During the Cold War the threat of a Nuclear War was ever present.
Therefore both the Military and the Civil Defence trained for this.
The picture we saw in the beginning of the video describes such a scenario:
An Atomic bomb has exploded in Oslo…
This is an abandoned Civil Defence Command Center.
Command Center CC "Tisteln", "The Thistle"
During the Cold War the Civil Defence had just as the military fortified Command Centers (CC).
They were mostly constructed under a mountain to give maximum protection against bombs, even Atomic.
They were very well planned
and had an independent water supply eg. a well.
They were equipped with an Aux power system, air filter that could filter out radioactive dust,
particles, biological weapons and gas.
They were mostly built and stocked to be self sustaining -
during an ev. lock down in War time...
They were built to withstand shockwaves even from an atomic bomb.
With multilayered protection, such as blast doors -
and an inner zone with gas proof doors.
The Command Centers were responsible for the planning and use of societies resources,
- and for the protection of the civilian population .
There are many hundreds of similar CC's,
- where the majority are much bigger than this one,
located all around Sweden.
