USA news on Youtube Feb 16 2019

Queen Elizabeth II has been driving almost her entire life and reportedly "loves" getting behind the wheel

The monarch even trained as a driver and mechanic during the Second World War. And ever since Prince Philip's traffic accident three weeks ago, the question on why the Queen does not need a driving licence has come up

So why does she not need it? Queen Elizabeth II news: Why does the Queen always carry a handbag? Prince Philip, 97, enjoys a solo drive around Balmoral  According to British law, the Queen does not need a driving licence because driving licences are issued in her name

As part of discretionary powers or rights that only the sovereign enjoys, she is excluded form the regulations and laws governing the road

The Queen has never had to do a driving test and is the only person in Britain allowed to sit behind the wheel with a driving licence

The 92-year-old has been driving since she was 19. The then-Princess Elizabeth learned to drive a car at a training centre in 1945 while working in the wartime Auxiliary Territorial Service

The Queen's passion for driving has been well documented over the years, with photos capturing her behind the wheel

Protocol dictates she is normally chauffeured, but Queen Elizabeth is said to be determined to drive herself around when possible

However, while it would be unlikely to see Her Majesty cruising around the streets of London she is said to often be behind the wheel when out of public view

Not needing a licence to drive is just one of the Queen's privileges. Along with no driving licence the British Monarch does not need a passport to travel abroad

This is also because Queen Elizabeth is the one to issue them. Why does the Queen always wear brightly coloured neon outfits? Queen Elizabeth II news: Why does the Queen always wear gloves?  The first page of all British passports read: "Her Britannic Majesty's Secretary of State requests and requires in the name of Her Majesty all those whom it may concern to allow the bearer to pass freely without let or hindrance and to afford the bearer such assistance and protection as may be necessary

" Queen Elizabeth has visited more than 100 countries during her reign, but she has not needed to provide any proof of identity once

This is a privilege for the reigning monarch only. Royals including Prince Charles and the Duke of Edinburgh have to hold a passport, the Queen is the only one exempt from the rules

Other powers the Queen is entitled to include being exempt from FOI (Freedom of Information) requests, being able to fire the whole Australian government and having her own private cash machine and her own personal poet

In addition, she is signing laws, creating lords and forming Governments. She also owns all of the swans in the River Thames, along with any dolphins in British waters

And if that was not enough, Her Majesty gets to celebrate her birthday twice a year

Padraig Harrington announced as Team Europe captain for 2020 Ryder Cup in America - Duration: 1:18.

Three-time major winner Padraig Harrington has been named as Europe's captain for the 2020 Ryder Cup

The 47-year-old has served as a vice-captain at the last three Ryder Cups and appeared in the biennial contest against the United States six times as a player, beginning at Brookline in 1999

He was on the winning team in 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2010.  Harrington succeeds Thomas Bjorn in the role for next year's contest at Whistling Straits, where Europe will be bidding to defend the trophy won in convincing fashion in Paris in September

Harrington, who is currently out of action after slipping on the stairs at home over Christmas and breaking a bone in his wrist, said: "Obviously I'm thrilled to be named as Ryder Cup captain for 2020, it's not something I went into lightly

"You could look at this as being a natural progression from player to vice-captain to captain, but it's not something I take on without a certain amount of trepidation

"I really want to be a help, I want to hopefully leave the European Tour and Ryder Cup in a better place after two years, but I know we are going to a new venue, it's an away match, we're going to have on average three more rookies coming into the team and I have to be part of that team and ensure that I find an edge to make the team perform to the best of their abilities and hopefully get a win

This Handheld Steamer Has Near-Perfect Reviews and Is So Easy to Use - US News - Duration: 7:04.

Ironing is so annoying. There, we said it! Sometimes we'd rather just buy new clothes than have to iron what we already own

When we're ironing, we need to lay our clothing out just right to avoid making wrinkles and creases even worse, and then repeat the process about 5,000 times as we move on to other parts of the garment

It's so difficult to get in between buttons or embellishments, and even if we do, we're worried the heat will warp or burn them

Good luck with anything mesh, because an iron will burn a hole right through it. We may or may not know from experience

We're going to need even more luck for curtains and bedding. We could go on, but we'd rather get to the point, and it's a good one

With Black and Decker's Advanced Handheld Steamer, we can take our iron and chuck it right into the trash without looking back

Not only does this steamer heat up in approximately 45 seconds, but shoppers are confidently saying it's "faster than ironing

" It's faster than other steamers, too, producing 45% more steam than the leading handheld steamer! We've hit the jackpot, but instead of gold, it's blue and white

To get started, all we have to do is remove the water tank, fill it up and turn the steamer on

Once the power light stops blinking, we'll be ready to steam. We can lock the steam trigger in place for continuous steaming as we drag the mouth of the device over our clothes, curtains, sheets and even walls

We'll see wrinkles and stains almost magically disappear in seconds. One shopper said they cleaned water streaks off their bathroom wall with just a few swipes of their steamer! We can also hit the steam trigger to generate powerful bursts for tougher spots that require a little extra love

This almost sounds, dare we say, fun?  This steamer is lightweight and compact, unlike giant professional steam machines that are often taller than we are

This makes it easy to hold and easy to store! It's a great size for traveling, so we don't have to fret too much about our clothes being packed too tightly in our suitcase or duffel bag

We can fix any wrinkles with ease, with the added bonus of deodorizing anything that may have taken on a bit of a musty smell, especially something that just does not fit in a washing machine, like a mattress or couch, no matter how hard we push

Even though this steamer is compact, it has a 10-foot long cord, so we won't be suddenly pulled back like an overly-excited dog on a leash if we need to steam a long gown or wide shower curtain, for example

This steamer comes with two extra attachments, one for upholstery and one for delicate fabrics

These are great for linens, pillows and anything that is sensitive to heat. One shopper said they use the attachments for removing fur from clothes, which is an endless struggle for pet owners everywhere

This steamer packs 1400 watts of power, so it's great to know that we can control how we use it for different items and areas of concern

Know that moment when, three hours after leaving home, we're suddenly hit with the thought, "Oh my gosh, did I leave the iron on?" With this steamer, that moment of panic is totally eliminated

It has auto shut-off technology, so it will automatically power down after 15 minutes of inactivity

We don't have to worry about opening our front door to a sauna in our living room when we get back home, which sounds almost nice, but would get old rather quickly

Also keeping us safe and sound is the grip base of this steamer, which stops the steamer from sliding around like a kid at their first waterpark

This means we don't have to worry about the device falling over too easily and drenching us in boiling water, which probably wouldn't feel great

While this steamer is super effective at getting wrinkles out of clothing, it's not going to have the same effect on our skin, but we have other tools for that

We're so happy to be done with our iron, and ironing board, for good. We're all about the steam life now! Quick, what's the least wrinkle-resistant fabric out there? We're ready to take on a challenge

Padraig Harrington makes an honest admission about his own Ryder Cup playing days - Duration: 2:19.

European captain Padraig Harrington admits he was "selfish" and "ignorant" during his playing days at the Ryder Cup

The three-time major winner is a veteran of six matches against the United States, winning on four occasions between 1999 and 2010

Harrington has since experienced the biennial contest as part of the management team, serving as a vice-captain at the last three events ahead of taking full control at Whistling Straits in 2020

The 47-year-old concedes he was previously naive to the true demands placed on team leaders

"It is a huge shock, the difference from being a player where you can't understand why you're not playing all five matches to being a vice-captain and seeing the different pressures and pulls on the captain's time," said Harrington, who was unveiled as Europe's new captain on Tuesday

"I just can't believe I was a player and didn't know. That's what fascinates me

"As a vice-captain I'm sitting there going, 'God, I was so ignorant to what was really going on behind the scenes', and so selfish in terms of thinking about what I need and thinking the Ryder Cup revolves around me during the week

"That's one of the things you learn."  Harrington served as a vice-captain at the 2014 win under Paul McGinley at Gleneagles and the 2018 success in Paris led by Thomas Bjorn, as well as 2016's defeat at Hazeltine under Darren Clarke

The Irishman plans to call on the knowledge of all three of those former captains in Wisconsin next year, but ruled out the possibility of any of them being involved in an official capacity

He believes it is his responsibility to nurture future European captains and has already said selecting five vice-captains is "a must"

"I will be relying on Paul, Darren and Thomas and all the other captains, but not officially," added Harrington, a winner of two Open Championship titles and the US PGA Championship

"It's somewhat incumbent now on the captain to bring players in as his vice-captains who are going to be potentially future captains

"This is no longer, if it ever was, a jolly. It's not your friends who are coming in as your vice-captains

It's ex-players you can rely on – my job is to train them for future captains.  "My job is to do what Paul McGinley, Thomas Bjorn and Darren Clarke did for me, bring me into the backroom team to see what happens

"
