Special Olympics: Creating a Global Movement of Inclusion - Duration: 4:17.

>> As Seattle gets ready to welcome

the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games,

we all have an important role to play in

creating a region of inclusion that welcomes everyone.

The games could be a galvanizing force

for greater awareness and

appreciation of what people with

intellectual disabilities can contribute.

>> We recently caught up with Tim Shriver,

Chairman of Special Olympics to learn more about

the history behind the games including how his mother,

Eunice Kennedy Shriver, turned her vision into

the world's foremost movement empowering people

with disabilities to show up and be seen.

>> Your family is

deeply involved in the Special Olympics,

can you tell us how it got started?

>> The Special Olympics Movement was started in Chicago,

1968 was the first games with a thousand people with

intellectual challenges on the field

claiming to be Olympic,

to be the best of humanity,

exactly the opposite of what the world had seen.

That moment in time had

its roots in the history of my mother's family,

one of her sister, Rosemary,

her older sister, was

born with an intellectual disability.

They grew up, my mom did especially with love of

her sister understanding of

the need in some ways to be protective,

but also with kind of a fierce determination to

change the culture that was around them,

which did not include their sister.

There were no schools, there

were no healthcare institutions,

there were no rehabilitation programs,

there were no employment support, there was nothing.

My mom's genius was to think we could use sports,

we could do what is so

intuitive and natural to all of us,

would just play together and by doing so we might

actually shift the culture

to emphasize inclusion for everybody,

the dignity of each human being.

>> Today, all of you young athletes are in the arena.

Many of you will win,

but even more important I know you will be

brave and bring credit

to your parents and to your country.

Let us begin the Olympics. Thank you.

>> So, one of the mottos

is "it's so much more than sports."

Can you talk about that and what the games mean to you?

>> We don't just do sports,

but we do inclusive early childhood,

inclusive schools, inclusive health programs,

we are the largest public health program in

the world for people with intellectual disabilities.

We teach what we call inclusive leadership.

What would it look like to become a leader if you

knew and understood the experiences

of those on the margins,

which is the gift our special needs

athletes bring to their peers into the culture.

I'd like us to think that every school in

America would have

a Special Olympics Unified Sports Team.

Let's celebrate the fact that sports can

be a platform where everybody can

claim their value not

their label of whatever separates us,

but their value as a contributing member of society.

>> Can you tell us a little bit about how the games

grew and evolved over the course of 50 years?

>> It's an amazing story Brad,

it's a story really mostly of volunteerism.

When we think of having five or six million athletes

involved in the movement every year,

99 percent of our workforce is volunteers

at civic organizations, faith-based institutions,

corporate partners who give their people the chance,

really the privilege of volunteering.

That's the story of our movement.

First, one country then 10,

then 20, then 30,

today 172 countries have

independent Special Olympics organizations,

110,000 games a year in little villages,

in the developing world,

and big cities like Seattle.

These games are all invitations for us to come

together to see in someone else goodness,

possibility, where maybe in

the past you'd seen something different.

That's no longer a person with

a disability, it's a point guard.

All of a sudden our hearts open

to some basic human value,

I think that's quite powerful.

>> As the premier partner for these USA games,

Microsoft is proud to join

with Special Olympics in bringing

our region together to create

more inclusive communities where everyone is welcome.

Schumer Cries In Panic After Trump's Order To 'Keep Illegal Families Together' Backfires On Dems - Duration: 12:02.

Schumer Cries In Panic After Trump's Order To 'Keep Illegal Families Together' Backfires

On Dems

President Donald Trump has been feeling the wrath of his critics a bit extra this week.

The mainstream media took a picture from the Obama days that showed children in "cages"

and people thought it was a recent photograph.

That prompted people to express their outrage towards Trump with many of them not realizing

the picture was from before Trump was president, meaning that it was during former President

Obama's era.

Before it was too late, the Internet was scourged with misinformation and people slamming Trump

for things that were already in place before he took office.

Some of the immigration reforms taking place now might also date back to Bill Clinton in

1996 when he worked on immigration reform, all the way up to Barack Obama who deported

millions, and now President Trump who seems to want a zero-tolerance reinforcement of

immigration laws.

Instead of looking up the information to see where the "separation of families" seemed

to begin, the angered people blindly continue expressing their fake rage as a means to show

hatred towards Trump for continuing with the same immigration ways that Democrats seemed

to put into place years ago.

Don't forget about the Elián González story in which an agent pointed a loaded weapon

in his direction during a heated battle of immigration and custody during the early 2000's,

16 years before Trump was ever a consideration for President.

As Trump takes heat for the parents who break the law by crossing the border illegally,

he's also working to end the familial separation that everyone began magically complaining

about.

Meanwhile, families in America are separated on a daily basis whenever someone commits

a crime and goes to jail, but it seems like the liberal Democrats want to protect the

illegal immigrants who break the law.

Trump has to come to a solution and he's signed an executive order to help stop that.

However, it doesn't seem like that would be enough for the Democrats who constantly

go after Trump by badgering him with nonsense instead of trying to fix problems by working

together.

Chuck Schumer, in particular, was highly critical of Trump, but does anyone remember him being

this upset when Barack Obama deported 3.1 million illegal immigrants?

Trump has been trying to fix the problem that so many of his critics complained about, but

his Democrat opponents still couldn't seem to be pleased.

This NY Times excerpt provided more insight on Schumer's critical moment against Trump:

"In an hourlong meeting on Capitol Hill with House Republicans, Mr. Trump declined

to explicitly back either one, saying he would sign both bills.

Republican leaders are trying to rally support for the compromise bill.

"The president was very firm in explaining why it's so important that he gets this

bill to his desk so that we can solve some problems and secure our border," said Representative

Steve Scalise of Louisiana, the Republican whip.

He added, "We want to secure our border; we want to reunite kids.

Our bill does just that."

Mr. McConnell said he planned to reach out to Democrats to support his conference's

effort, hoping to stanch the political damage from the administration's "zero tolerance"

policy that has led to heartbreaking stories of children separated from their mothers.

But Senator Chuck Schumer of New York, the Democratic leader, immediately shot down the

Republican approach, saying that Mr. Trump could — and should — use his executive

authority, not legislation, to quickly end the family separations.

"Anyone who believes this Republican Congress is capable of addressing this issue is kidding

themselves," Mr. Schumer said in a statement.

"The president can end this crisis with the flick of his pen, and he needs to do so

now."

Mr. Trump has the power on his own to change that zero-tolerance policy at the border,

which would once again allow border agents and prosecutors the discretion to allow families

to remain together after crossing illegally into the United States.

But it would also allow those families to be released while their court proceedings

go forward, something Mr. Trump opposes."

It almost seems like nothing Trump does will ever please Chuck Schumer.

Perhaps we take a trip back to the time when Chuck Schumer cried about Trump and immigration.

There are a few things to remember before people criticize Trump for the border activity:

Bill Clinton signed The Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act (IIRIRA)

in 1996 to help pave the way for what's going on today.

Barack Obama deported 3.1 million illegal immigrants, most ever by any president.

Being tough on immigration has been a thing for many years, so why is Trump getting all

of the heat for it?

It's because he's not a Democrat.

Many others have contributed to what's going on today and critics may want to check what

party they're from before they criticize President Trump for things that other people

set into place.

It's like blaming the bus driver for when the smelly girl in the back lets one rip after

eating three cans of beans.

It wasn't the driver's fault that the bus might stink, but he's gotta drive it.

Trump Warned Them But They Didn't Listen, Now He's Ending It For All Of Them Effective Immediately - Duration: 12:02.

Trump Warned Them But They Didn't Listen, Now He's Ending It For All Of Them Effective

Immediately

I've watched President Trump stand strong on the border and the illegal immigration

issues.

Sometimes he has compromised more than I like, but he's always had a reason behind the

move.

He even signed an Executive Order yesterday that would keep families together at the border.

Backing him up are those such as House Judiciary Committee Chair Bob Goodlatte (R-VA), who

is proposing legislation that would keep those families together and deport them immediately.

It would treat all illegal immigrants the same regardless of point of origin.

President Trump also warned that he would cut off all funding to countries who abuse

our immigration system.

He's ending that funding effective immediately and I applaud him for it.

It's been a long time since we had a president with a real spine, one who doesn't back

down to the political pressure and threats thrown his way.

Where I come from that's called being a man of principle.

Of course, I'm from the wild west where you are known by your word and deeds.

On Tuesday, Trump met with the Republicans in Congress to hash out immigration legislation.

It continued yesterday and ended with the EO.

The Democrats are playing obstructionist politics and refuse to pass any bill on immigration

even if it benefits them.

They demanded that Trump sign the EO.

When he did, they decried his executive overreach and said that you can't put children in

prison with their parents.

They then moved to say that they should all be set free in the US and the borders should

be thrown wide open.

At the National Federation of Independent Business, President Trump announced that the

time of countries taking advantage of the United States by sending people to our borders

is going to come to an end.

The free ride and all-you-can-eat at the American trough of freebies is over.

"We want to end the border crisis by finally giving us the legal authorities and the resources

to detain and remove illegal immigrant families all together and bring them back to their

country," he told the crowd.

It's exactly what Goodlatte proposed.

"Think of all that aid that we give some of these countries – hundreds of millions

of dollars we give to some of these countries and they send them up.

I'm going to go, very shortly, for authorization that when countries abuse us by sending their

people up — not their best (people) — we're not going to give any more aid to those countries,"

he said.

The US is about to embark on a merit-based immigration system, which is the sane way

to handle all of this and President Trump's actions here are making that move a reality.

Trump also said, "Why the hell should we?

Why should we?

This is a responsible, common-sense approach that all lawmakers should embrace, Democrats

and Republicans."

He's right of course.

This isn't a new stance for the president.

He has said many times in the past that he has no interest in sending aid to countries

who take advantage of our immigration system.

Last April, Trump tweeted, "The big Caravan of People from Honduras, now coming across

Mexico and heading to our 'Weak Laws' Border, had better be stopped before it gets

there.

Cash cow NAFTA is in play, as in foreign aid to Honduras and the countries that allow this

to happen.

Congress MUST ACT NOW!"

The president is upset that children are being separated from their parents, but he also

pointed out that it's a result of Democrat-supported loopholes in the law.

"I don't want children taken away from parents, and when you prosecute the parents

for coming in illegally — which should happen — you have to take the children away,"

he said.

That's what happens to any criminal in the US.

"These loopholes have created a massive child smuggling trade.

Can you believe this?"

Trump stated.

"In this day and age, we're talking about child smuggling.

We're talking about women smuggling, in this day and age."

"The smugglers know these rules and regulations better than the people that drew them, as

a result there has been a 325 percent increase in minors and a 435 percent increase in the

smuggling or attempted smuggling of families and minors into our country," he said.

"We're stopping them all the time, by the thousands, but they still get through.

We have no wall, we have no border security."

What the Democrats are doing is aiding and abetting human trafficking and white slavery.

We have to stop this, build a wall and secure our borders before it is too late and this

country is destroyed financially, politically and morally over all of this idiocy.

President Trump went on to slam the North American Free Trade Agreement, saying that

"Mexico does nothing for us."

Which is true… in fact, they are trying to invade us with their people, gangs, criminals

and drugs.

"We can no longer be the stupid country we want to be the smart country," Trump

said, adding that Mexico is "not sending their finest (people)."

It's impossible to argue with that statement.

Just take a look at Los Angeles where the Mexican gangs control the prisons and most

of the city now.

President Trump is right.

It's time to put the safety and security of America first here.

We cannot give in to the Marxist left.

We must secure the border and build the wall.

Cutting the aid off to these countries is the right thing to do and should have been

done long ago.

Outraged Mayor Has Had Enough – Orders All Citizens To Shoot On Site To End It For Good - Duration: 12:48.

Outraged Mayor Has Had Enough – Orders All Citizens To Shoot On Site To End It For Good

Italy is slowly but surely losing its identity and its culture.

Suffering from a significant influx illegal immigration, the famously boot-shaped country

is struggling to simply cope.

In 2016, more 181,000 migrants entered Italy, nearly all of them illegal, nearly all by

sea.

Geography makes the country a tempting target for seaborne illegal migrants.

Then there is the fact that Italian territory actually reaches into North Africa with the

small island of Lampedusa.

With a population of just 6,000, it lies just 70 miles off the coast of Tunisia and 184

miles from Libya.

Business Insider reports that Italy has the fourth-largest Muslim population in Europe.

Out of the 60 million people that call Italy home, 2.2 million are Muslims.

That is roughly 4% of the population.

Italy also has a history with Muslim occupation.

The Muslim presence in Sicily lasted nearly five centuries from 827 to 1300 and Islamists

remember the era well.

They want Sicily back as a coup of sorts.

In fact, Rome as the seat of the Catholic Church with its influence and power represents

a significant symbol of Islamist ire and ambition, making it a likely target of jihadi violence

as a result.

The church's current attempts at appeasement only add to the current issue as Pope Francis

has established himself as a leading advocate of unimpeded migration and open borders.

It could be said the problems currently facing Italy are much like the border crisis being

endured by Americans on their Southern border as men, women, children, traffickers, cartel,

and families alike trek from Central America and Mexico up over the Rio Grande and into

the United States.

Much in the way many states and individual cities have stood up to Washington saying

"NO MORE!" as wave after wave after wave of unvetted migrants illegally invades the

borders of the United States.

Mayor of the tourist hot spot of Venice, Italy, Luigi Brugnaro has done the same.

He is taking no chances with Islamic terrorists launching an attack on his city, taking his

position to care for the public safety very seriously.

Brugnaro issued a formal warning to anyone caught yelling the words "Allahu Akbar"

on the streets of Venice would be shot.

The words "Allahu Akbar" mean literally "God is the greatest" and is a phrase

well known for its common use as a battle cry in Islamist extremism and Islamist terrorism.

Brugnaro made the announcement at a summer think tank, stating – "Anyone who shouts

'Allahu Akbar' in St Mark's Square can expect to be gunned down by snipers within

four paces.

We need to increase our security when it comes to terrorism.

We had four would-be terrorists arrested in Venice a few months ago who wanted to blow

up the Rialto bridge.

They said they wanted to go and meet Allah so we will send them straight to Allah without

having to throw them off the bridge.

We will just shoot them."

Naturally, with Pope Francis and other political leaders attempting to appease the current

illegal migrant influx, Brugnaro's words were considered quite controversial.

However, he has stated he is unconcerned with what people think of his controversial announcement.

He offered as the explanation – "I have never been politically correct, I am incorrect.

I would shoot, we would shoot."

Yet in America, there has been virtually a non-stop media barrage over the separation

of immigrant parents and their children at the border, a process started by current President

Donald Trump's predecessors.

Yet the leftist progressives and open borders proponents have not ceased in their Twitter

tirades, protests, and spewing of virulent hatred for any that attempt to defend his

administration's new "zero tolerance" policy of enforcing rules created and enforced

under the Bush and Obama administrations.

Instead, the left makes comparisons to "internment camps."

President Trump has repeatedly defended his strong stance on illegal immigration stating

the U.S. would not be a "migrant camp" while defending his administration's approach

to border control.

"The United States will not be a migrant camp and it will not be a refugee holding

facility.

You look at what's happening in Europe," he continued, "you look at what's happening

in other places – we can't allow that to happen to the United States.

Not on my watch."

The left has laser-focused on the "zero tolerance" policy announced earlier this

year by Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

The separations are the result of the administration's "zero tolerance" immigration policy, which

aims to prosecute all illegal border crossers.

But because of a 1997 order and related decisions, children cannot be detained for longer than

20 days with the adults.

However, what the left is utterly and completely tone deaf on is that up to 80% of migrant

children are arriving WITHOUT parents.

That is where the so-called "separating families" argument begins to unravel.

The firestorm began to ramp up several weeks ago when photographs of "caged" migrant

children began to circulate on social media attributing them to the Trump administration

– except the photos were from 2014 during the Obama administration.

Yet as they often do, the left persisted in pushing their fictional narrative.

Former First Ladies Laura Bush and Michelle Obama joined together to criticize the Trump

administration.

Many quickly denounced their abject hypocrisy noting these policies were passed into law

and enacted by their husbands.

Then there was Hillary Clinton in 2014 saying whatever is expedient as usual suggesting

"just because your child gets across the border, that doesn't mean the child gets

to stay."

Meanwhile, Politico reports President Trump just signed an executive order titled "Affording

Congress an Opportunity to Address Family Separation" to keep illegal immigrant families

together at the border, while stating that his administration's "zero-tolerance"

policy of enforcing Bush-era immigration laws will continue.

The executive action would follow days of escalating calls from both sides of the political

divide for Trump, or Congress, to end the controversial family separation policy.

He stated of the E.O.

– "We're going to have strong, very strong borders, but we're going to keep

the families together.

I didn't like the sight or the feeling of families being separated."

President Trump stated he is hopeful his action will be "matched by legislation," while

also committing to "get the wall done" during his comments.

Fox News reports – the action under consideration would allow children to stay in detention

with parents for an extended period of time.

"Sources told Fox News that the executive action by Trump could be seen to run afoul

of the 1997 order and would likely draw a lawsuit.

But the White House wants to try to take steps to uphold the enforcement of the law, while

at the same time lessening the trauma of children being separated from their parents.

In another possible approach, Fox News is told Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen

Nielsen will recommend to Trump that he throws his support behind developing House legislation

or, if that doesn't pass, a standalone bill to close the 'loopholes' regarding family

detention.

During the order-signing, Nielsen again called on Congress to act."
