So, things could potentially get quite complicated in Group D, so lets attempt to break this down.

Croatia is as close to a lock atop the group as can be.

The only way they don't win the group is if the following events all happen: Nigeria beats Argentina; Croatia loses to Iceland; Nigeria makes up six on Croatia in goal differential (or Nigeria makes up five on Croatia in goal differential AND scores at least four more goals than Croatia).

So, yeah, you can go ahead and write in Croatia's name in that D1 spot, and you can do it in pen.

As for the runner-up in Group D, things may get more complicated.

Nigeria will lock up that spot with either A) a win, or B) a draw as long as Iceland doesn't beat Croatia by multiple goals.

If Argentina win on Tuesday, though, they'll move to four points and hop Nigeria.

Then, if Iceland loses or draws in that scenario, Argentina will advance.

If Iceland also wins, then it will go to a tiebreaker, which will be determined by goal differential, then goals scored, then Fair Play points.

Phew.

In short, Nigeria wants a win but will probably be happy with a draw.

Argentina must get a win, and to be safe, they'll want to win by as many goals as possible.

Argentina is favored to get the victory, and normally they would be expected to follow through on those odds, but they've looked like a mess under Jorge Sampaoli this World Cup.

Nigeria, meanwhile, is coming off a confidence-building win over Iceland, so you can't just assume Argentina will get the three points on Tuesday.

Ultimately, with two talented–albeit inconsistent–teams and incredibly high stakes, this should be a highly entertaining match.

White House Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation just suffered a huge setback

that it may not recover from.

Supporters of former national security adviser Michael Flynn are saying that he may withdraw

his guilty plea in Mueller's probe as the new judge in the case makes some suspicious

moves amid speculation over whether the special counsel "withheld" evidence.

Flynn's siblings, who vocally support their brother on social media, seem to be advocating

that he withdraw his plea.

"Say it very loud….!"

Joseph J. Flynn, who helped set up a legal defense fund for Trump's former national

security advisor, tweeted in response to an activist calling on Flynn to withdraw the

plea.

Fox News reported that two of Flynn's other siblings, Barbara Redgate and Jack Flynn,

retweeted the same message from another activist that read: "Mueller suppressed evidence

from the General Flynn case.

His plea must be withdrawn and all charges dropped."

This comes as reports are coming in that then-FBI Director James Comey told lawmakers last year

that agents did not think Flynn intentionally lied to the FBI.

Despite this, Flynn pleaded guilty two months ago to one count of making false statements

to the FBI about his conversations with then-Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak during the transition.

Flynn ended up losing his White House job over this controversy when he was accused

of misleading Vice President Mike Pence and other administration officials.

Just days after Flynn plead guilty, U.S. District Judge Rudolph Contreras recused himself and

was replaced by Judge Emmet Sullivan, who has a reputation for punishing Department

of Justice overreach, including during the case against the late Alaska Republican Sen.

Ted Stevens.

Sullivan immediately raised eyebrows when he ordered prosecutors to give Flynn's lawyers

"any evidence in its possession that is favorable" to Flynn.

Mueller's team has since postponed Flynn's sentencing, and last week, the team filed

a protective order "governing the production of discovery," which indicates they won't

fight the order to hand over documents.

Former federal prosecutors responded to this move by saying there could be bombshells in

the material.

"Typically, exculpatory information is not required to be turned over when a plea has

been done, but I think this judge is particularly sensitive to those issues, given some of his

history and cases he's had," said John Lauro, a former federal prosecutor in New

York and defense attorney who specializes in white-collar criminal defense.

Obviously, this is a great move.

There are a lot of reasons to be disappointed in Jeff Sessions but there are also a lot

of areas where he has been doing a fantastic job.

He's been fantastic on immigration and moves like this are surely going to earn him some

points with conservatives.

Not just conservatives, though.

This should score him points with anyone who is interested in the truth.

This isn't about Republican or Democrat, it's about getting to the truth and exposing

nefarious activity

at

the highest

levels of government.

Hopefully, we

can finally start

getting some answers.

SUPREME COURT UPHOLDS TRUMP'S MUSLIM TRAVEL BAN – EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

President Donald Trump scored a huge victory on Thursday when the Supreme Court voted to

uphold his travel ban affecting several mostly Muslim countries.

Fox News reported that the 5-4 ruling upholds the selective travel restrictions that outraged

liberals claimed were unconstitutional.

The Supreme Court agreed with Trump that these rules are necessary for security reasons.

The majority opinion was written by Chief Justice John Roberts, who said that the order

was "squarely within the scope of presidential authority" under federal law.

"The sole prerequisite set forth in [federal law] is that the president find that the entry

of the covered aliens would be detrimental to the interests of the United States.

The president has undoubtedly fulfilled that requirement here," he wrote.

Justice Sonia Sotomayor was one of the four justices who dissented, and along with Justice

Stephen Breyer, she made the unusual move of reading her dissension from the bench.

"This repackaging does little to cleanse [the policy] of the appearance of discrimination

that the president's words have created," she said.

"Based on the evidence in the record, a reasonable observer would conclude that the

proclamation was motivated by anti-Muslim animus."

Trump has always denied that this was a "Muslim ban," but liberal judges have cited statements

he made when he was a candidate in declaring the rules to be unconstitutional.

However, Roberts effectively said in his decision that Trump's prior comments were not relevant

to the constitutionality of his travel ban.

"The issue before us is not whether to denounce the statements," wrote Roberts.

"It is instead the significance of those statements in reviewing a Presidential directive,

neutral on its face, addressing a matter within the core of executive responsibility.

In doing so, we must consider not only the statements of a particular President, but

also the authority of the Presidency itself."

President Trump himself took to Twitter to celebrate the ruling.

Wow!" Trump wrote.

Grabien News reported that after winning three million more votes than Trump, Clinton has

been calling for the Electoral College to be disbanded and for the U.S. to instead put

in place a direct one-person, one-vote election.

"Populists can stay in power by mobilizing a fervent base," Clinton whined.

"Now, there are many other lessons like this.

Louise mentioned my personal experience with winning 3 million more votes, but still losing.

And we will leave discussions of American Electoral College for another day, but Mounk

concludes by saying, 'Turkey also shows that political and intellectual elites, both

inside the country and around the world, persistently underestimate the threat which these kinds

of leaders pose to the survival of democratic institutions.'"

Clinton went on to dramatically claim that American citizens may lose their rights to

due process under President Trump.

"Today, the American president tweeted there should be no judicial process, there should

be no due process for anyone who crosses the border," Clinton said.

"I can't help but think, if you strip immigrants and asylum seekers of due process

and judicial review, who is next?"

Unfortunately for Clinton, Twitter users quickly let her know that nobody cares what she thinks

about anything, especially about President Trump:

Well, I think music is an immense political power.

It has the social power.

It has, above everything, it has the power to create communion

and therefore to create community.

So I think music itself is an instrument of society.

And you can use it in whatever way you want.

I don't necessarily explicitly look for issues to sing about every time.

I have written songs which address certain issues quite specifically.

But I think each one should find their own way to go about this,

never forgetting, though, that you are creating community.

You are creating a resonance.

And you have to choose what kind of energy

you want to put out there in the world.

What do you want to communicate to people

not only through the words of a song, but through the song itself,

which already is going to communicate lots of things.

"Festejo de Color" is a song that I wrote

for my grandparents, which means something like celebration of color,

a carnival of color.

And it's a song that speaks about migration.

My four grandparents were immigrants that escaped the Holocaust

and arrived to Chile, which is a country probably

they never heard of before arriving there

to live there for the rest of their lives and have their families there.

So when these days I see the issue of migration

becoming such an urgent matter around the world,

I'm kind of glad that I wrote this song in a very personal and intimate

motivation.

But it applies, really, to the context that we all live in,

wherever we live now in the world.

Peoples have always moved from one place to the other.

It is a fundamental human right to be able to migrate.

Nevertheless, we are such selfish people when

it comes to feeling that our livelihood is being threatened

by those who come from far away.

So racism and xenophobia and the hate of the difference

is something very real and very present and very challenging

in our modern world.

So this song really applies in that context.

The song itself, though, not only on a lyrical perspective,

speaks directly to this issue, especially

on its rhythm, which is quite a interesting thing.

And let me explain.

If you listen to this little riff--

[PLAYING GUITAR RIFF]

It might be a little bit tricky to follow rhythmically,

to follow the beat.

For the most people, when I say in a concert so clap your hands,

people have no idea what to do.

I need this for a reason.

It's because the rhythm of this riff is 12/8,

which is very much the ground rhythm.

Either 6/8 or 12/8 of many of the folk music

of Latin America because it is coming from an African root,

an African influence.

And being 12/8 means that, of course, you can very, very funkily

combine the fill in 4.

So that is 4 parts of 3 beats.

So 1-2-3, 1-2-3, 1-2-3, 1-2-3, 1-2-3.

Or you can also fill it in 3-- so 3 longer parts of 4 beats.

1-2-3-4, 1-2-3-4, 1-2-3-4.

And together, its the 2 again 3.

[SLAPPING RHYTHM ON GUITAR]

--which is really the spine of most of Latin American folk music.

But also, and this is where it gets funky,

you can subdivide 12/8 as two irregular beats of 5 and 7,

like a bar of 5 over 7.

So that would be 1-2-3, 1-2, 1-2-3, 1-2, 1-2, 1-2-3, 1-2, 1-2-3, 1-2, 1-2.

And if you listen closely to this riff, it's

actually 1-2-3, 1-2, 1-2-3, 1-2, 1-2, 1-2-3, 1-2 1-2-3, 1-2, 1-2, and so on.

No?

So 5/7.

So that's one level of it.

But also when I'm strumming, I'm also hinting at the 3

against 4, which is the real African feel.

So I could sing this melody against the 5/7 strictly.

Buh-duh, ba-da doo, doo-doo, doo.

Da, da-da, da-dum, duh-dum, dee, dah-dum, doo-doo, dom, gah, dem, don,

doo, dong, doh, doh, doh, dom, pa-dah.

Or I could sing it over very clear 6/8.

Da gah pa-da dum, dah dah dum, da da da da dum dah da dum da da dum da da dum,

da da da da-da da da dum dah-dah dum--

which is quite interesting when you are really

able to play and feel these three beats at the same time.

And where I find it gets really funky is that not only it's

three different beats, but it's three different beats that

combine different traditions.

So on the one side, the roots of Latino American folk music.

But on the other side, this feeling of 5 and 7,

which is clearly a sort of Central Eastern European rhythmical structure,

which applies to the music of Serbia, of Ukraine,

of Poland sometimes, which is were part of my family was coming from.

So it is kind of, without saying one word already, the song is, in a way,

speaking of the mixture of those sounds, of those rhythms

with the rhythms of Latin America, which is where I was born

and where I grew up.

So before saying one word about the song,

it already says what it wants to say just by the music itself.

And then, moving on to the lyrics, the lyrics of the song are written

in a structure of poetry that is called décimas.

And décimas are found all through Latin America.

And they originated in Spain in the end the Middle Age

and towards the Renaissance.

And it is incredible, because it's a form

of poetry that was born out of a semi, how do you say,

intellectual written context.

But it traveled to the Americas.

And it became really the ground basis of improvised poetry and popular poetry

not only in Chile, but in pretty much every other Spanish speaking

country of the Americas--

Argentina, Colombia, Peru, in Central America, in Mexico.

Everywhere you go in Cuba, there is an amazing tradition.

So there's many, many, many, many amazing songs that are written

in décimas.

And there's a whole style of improvised singing also.

In each country, it has a different name and a different style.

And it is a really beautiful thing to be able to study

these different traditions.

I recommend very much, if you're interested in this,

that you take a look at Jorge Drexler and his TED Talk,

where he really approaches the décimas in a bit more depth.

But it's also an interesting fact that you

would be singing about this mixing of people, this mixing of colors

and traditions and cultures in a poetical structure

that is, at the same time, very, very traditional to each place

and very dear to the localist and to the purists of their tradition.

But at the same time, it's actually something that is present everywhere

and that is a uniting factor all through the Spanish speaking world.

So it is also, at some level, a political statement

to sing contemporary songs using centuries old structures that

are at the same time a tradition of each place,

but also joining together all these different traditions.
