A welcome change of scene, even if it's only for a couple of hours:
a longstanding tradition on FC Bayern's summer trips — the Audi Night.
This year, it took place in Miami, on the day the team arrived in the Sunshine State — marking half-time on this year's tour.
Prior to the gathering, after about three hours in the air, a short drive through the Miami heat,
and checking in at their seaside hotel, it was back to work for Niko Kovac's boys.
Kingsley Coman and Rafinha, for example had to prove their footvolley skills on the beach.
The arrival in Miami was also a good opportunity for the press to check in on the players.
Serge Gnabry and Sven Ulreich seemed pleased with the work the team has been doing on the trip.
Half way through, I think it's safe to say that we have made significant progress.
We have trained and we have played, and now we have an idea of where we stand.
I think we played a good match, except for the mistakes we committed, that allowed our opponents to score.
We have to build on that.
I believe we have put our time to good use until now.
We have trained well and worked really hard these days.
We played the first game and now we're happy to get the opportunity to experience Miami.
And then it's not long until we're headed back home.
Just to pretty much travel right on to the training camp by lake Tegernsee.
But before all that, a couple of intense training sessions await here in Miami.
Plus the match against Manchester City.
Surely a special one.
After all, it will be an encounter with an old friend: ex-Bayern coach Pep Guardiola.
During the preparation, results are mostly secondary.
Of course, we want to win every match we play.
We try to bring to the pitch what we've been practicing.
And certainly, when we're up against our former coach, winning is all the more fun.
But that's not our primary concern.
It's also great to meet again after such a long time.
Nevertheless, winning would surely make for an even better experience.
