 Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler made a name for himself tucking away chances, these days he's busy offering them up

 It's been four years since the launch of the Fowler Education and Football Academy (FEFA)

 Hundreds of Merseyside teenagers have benefited from the work of the Wavertree Sports Park-based centre which offers a variety of courses combining football coaching with educational qualifications

 They are the reigning English Colleges FA national champions and the holders of the Dubai Super Cup

 And now FEFA's exciting expansion plans are gathering pace after they struck a partnership with Rainhill High School

 The school, which also educates Liverpool Football Club's Academy starlets, will act as a second base from September – enabling Fowler's staff to offer A-Levels to their students for the first time

   "It's going from strength to strength," Fowler told the ECHO.  "I'm immensely proud

When we started off we had this blank piece of paper and this vision of what we wanted to achieve

 "We couldn't really have envisaged how good it has become. It's been exceptional with lots of success stories and kids moving on to great things  "Now this partnership will help us take it to the next level

It means we can offer even more choice in terms of qualifications.  "The expertise we have both on the football and education side really benefits the kids

We're trying to create pathways, whether that's through sport or education, and this link up will only enhance that

"  Academy principal Brian McGorry added: "When we launched four years ago we were telling everyone what we would like to do

Now we can say what we can do and what we've shown we offer.  "Rainhill coming to us and asking for a partnership is fantastic

It shows they believe in us and they believe in sport education.  "Offering A-Levels for the first time will open up the international market for FEFA

We've already had people from South Africa, New Zealand, the Middle East, the Far East and the USA wanting to come and study with us

It's perfect for those kids who maybe want to go down the medicine or engineering route

 "We've sent over 35 students to universities since we've been going and have strong links with Liverpool John Moores University

"  Rainhill High School's close ties with elite football stretches back over a decade courtesy of their partnership with Liverpool FC

 Shirts worn by former pupils Raheem Sterling, Jerome Sinclair, Jordon Ibe, Sheyi Ojo, Ben Woodburn and Trent Alexander-Arnold all hang on the wall

 They will soon be joined by those belonging to Curtis Jones and Rafa Camacho, who were handed their debuts by Jurgen Klopp in the FA Cup tie against Wolves

 Rainhill High executive principal John Pout, an Anfield season ticket holder, said: "Liverpool FC put the best of their 11 to 16 year olds with us and their under-18s are also educated at the school

 "Our first superstar was Raheem and seeing Trent do so well for Liverpool and England has been a big highlight

Curtis and Rafa became our seventh and eighth first teamers – we're proud of each and every one of them

 "We know what we're doing with elite sports kids. We had the best results in the Premier League in 2018 and this link up with FEFA will be mutually beneficial

We will oversee the management and the quality and the recruitment of the students into FEFA

 "We have a very successful and popular sixth form here so any student who signs up with FEFA and wants to do A-Levels or wants to play for the women's team at the school will be based here

"  FEFA currently boasts 83 students and will pass the 100-mark come September. Their first team are on course for a league and cup double this season

 Student Rio Gill joined in September after the 18-year-old had spells on the books at Everton and Nottingham Forest

 "I'm doing a personal training course and being at FEFA allows me to train every day so it's like being at a pro club," he said

"It gives me the best chance to go far and play at a higher level."  Fellow student Jacob Shield, 19, who got released by Wigan at the age of 16, is in his third year with FEFA and has played non-league football for Warrington Town and Litherland Remyca

 "This has been a great route to take," he said. "The transition has been easy because the standard is so similar to being at a pro club's Academy

Accuse sempre respinte dal Cremlino che a sua volta ha ammonito la Casa Bianca su una pericolosa ripresa della corsa alle armi nucleari

La conferma della decisione di uscire dal trattato sarebbe arrivata dopo il fallimento dei negoziati tra americani e russi svoltisi nell'ultima settimana a Pechino

Tecnicamente il ritiro dall'accordo Inf dopo l'annuncio dovrebbe scattare sei mesi dopo

Questo - spiegano gli esperti - lascia qualche speranza che lo storico trattato si possa ancora salvare con un accordo in extremis tra Washington e Mosca

 Deutschland und mehrere andere europäische Staaten haben Maduro ein Ultimatum bis Sonntag gestellt, um freien und faire Neuwahlen auszurufen

Andernfalls wollen sie Guaidó wie bereits die USA und eine Reihe lateinamerikanischer Länder als legitimen Interimsstaatschef anerkennen

 Bundesaußenminister Heiko Maas (SPD) hofft auf eine gemeinsame EU-Linie im Umgang mit Venezuela

„Da sind zurzeit mutige Menschen auf der Straße, die sich einsetzen für Demokratie und gegen die Unterdrückung in ihrem Land", sagte er am Donnerstag am Rande von EU-Beratungen in der rumänischen Hauptstadt Bukarest

Deswegen gehe es nun darum, dass die Europäische Union eine geschlossene Haltung finde

Länder wie Griechenland weigerten sich aber bis zuletzt mitzuziehen. Am Donnerstag beschlossen die EU-Staaten die Gründung einer Kontaktgruppe, die Bemühungen um demokratische Wahlen in Venezuela unterstützen soll

Die Gruppe aus europäischen und lateinamerikanischen Ländern solle aber keine offizielle Vermittlerrolle zwischen den politischen Gegnern spielen, sagte EU-Außenbeauftragte Federica Mogherini

 Der 35 Jahre alte Parlamentschef Guaidó hatte sich am 23. Januar als Übergangspräsident vereidigen lassen und Maduro damit offen herausgefordert

Noch kann der sozialistische Staatschef auf die Unterstützung der mächtigen Militärs zählen

Guaidó lockt die Soldaten nun mit Straffreiheit, wenn sie ihn unterstützen. „Wir haben all jenen Amnestie angeboten, die sich keiner Verbrechen gegen die Menschlichkeit schuldig gemacht haben", schrieb Guaidó

 „Wenn Teile des Militärs mit ausreichender Feuerkraft mit Maduro brechen, könnten sie ihm die Macht entziehen oder ihn dazu zwingen, über seinen Rücktritt zu verhandeln", schrieb Phil Gunson vom Forschungsinstitut Crisis Group in einer Analyse

„Eine solche Entwicklung könnte Guaidó theoretisch dazu befähigen, die Regierung zu übernehmen und Neuwahlen auszurufen

" Bislang halten die Generäle öffentlich noch zu Maduro. Hochrangige Militärs sitzen auf wichtigen Posten in der Erdölwirtschaft, kontrollieren den Import von Lebensmitteln und leiten Banken und Bergbauunternehmen

Zudem sollen einige auch in kriminelle Geschäfte verwickelt sein. Sie haben wenig Interesse an einem Regierungswechsel

 Der einzige ranghohe Offizier, der Maduro bislang die Gefolgschaft aufgekündigt und sich Guaidó angeschlossen hat, ist der Militärattaché in Washington, Oberst José Luis Silva

Doch unter den Mannschaften soll es Medienberichten zufolge brodeln. Die einfachen Soldaten profitieren nicht von den Privilegien der Führungsriege und leiden ebenso wie die Zivilbevölkerung unter der katastrophalen Versorgungslage im Land

 Zuletzt gab es mehrere kleinere Aufstände von Soldaten, die allerdings schnell niedergeschlagen wurden

Nach Angaben der Nichtregierungsorganisation Control Ciudadano wurden im vergangenen Jahr mindestens 180 Militärs wegen politischer Verbrechen festgenommen

 Die Sicherheitsbehörden deckten nach eigener Darstellung erst kürzlich eine mutmaßliche Verschwörung gegen die Regierung auf

„Von ultrarechten Kreisen engagierte Auftragskiller sollten politische Führer und Soldaten ermorden, um Chaos im Land zu stiften", sagte Innenminister Néstor Reverol am Donnerstag

Mehrere Verdächtige seien festgenommen worden, darunter ein Deserteur der venezolanischen Streitkräfte und zwei ehemalige Offiziere

 Angesichts der Abwerbeversuche und des wachsenden Drucks aus Washington schwor Maduro die Soldaten auf die Verteidigung des Landes ein

„Ich rufe die Streitkräfte zu einer großen militärischen Erneuerung auf, um zu garantieren, dass der nordamerikanische Imperialismus niemals einen Fuß auf unser Territorium setzt", sagte er bei einem Truppenbesuch

 Sollten die Militärs allerdings zu dem Schluss kommen, dass Maduro nicht länger zu halten ist, dürfte ihm die flammenden Appelle wenig helfen

„In entscheidenden Momenten haben wir gesehen, dass sich die Militärs an die realen Machtoptionen anpassen

Sie sind eher Pragmatiker als Idealisten", sagte Rocío San Miguel von Control Ciudadano in einem Radiointerview
