Happy New Year everyone!
It's Sharni Haque.
I hope you're all well.
I know it's been a while since my last video
but a lot of things has happened and I had to take some time off.
But I'm back now and it's a new year for new beginnings.
This was going to be a Q&A video, but with all the things going on,
I decided to do it at a later date.
When? I'm not sure, but I hope soon!
But I am going to talk about the drawing in this video
which I was preparing for in the last one.
If you want to go back and watch it,
the link is in the description box below.
Okay, so this drawing is actually a scene described in my second book
in "The College Lovers Series",
and if you follow me on DeviantART or even Instagram,
this may look familiar to you.
That's because I did this drawing before back in 2011.
In fact I drew it twice in that year,
but the first attempt wasn't to my liking.
Luckily after Mark Crilley (my go-to tutor on Manga),
uploaded a video tutorial in the same year on the very subject,
I tried drawing the scene again.
There's a link to Mark Crilley's tutorial in the description box below,
so feel free to take a look
and do check out his channel as well.
Now I got inspired to draw the same scene again
but in chibi style
when I saw the kissing chibis in Mark Crilley's book
"Chibi!"
However, I decided to put my own twist to the drawing.
Not only did I use my own characters,
I drew them less chubby like tall chibis.
Then I tweaked their poses a little bit.
I found that putting markings on their joints
helped me keep them in proportion to one another when tweaking them.
Usually in my coloring process
I tend to keep it very cartoony.
But for this drawing
I wanted to work on my shadows and highlights a bit more.
So I tried to find an easy
but effective way of doing it on Photoshop
and I found that the very soft airbrush in the Brush Tool
worked best for me.
The leather jacket was the most challenging part
as it reflects a lot of light.
But I was quite happy with the end result.
I noticed that the cardigan was a similar colour to the jacket.
So I coloured it a shade or two darker
and added some make-believe sparkles.
Lastly I added the background to complete the picture.
And that's it!
Hope you enjoyed this video.
Give it a like and subscribe and click on the bell button if you're new here.
Also just to let everyone know
that I am happy to take character requests as and when I can.
So go ahead and send them with a reference or two
bearing in mind it may take some time for me to draw them
as the saying goes
'You Can't Rush Art!'
See you soon!
