USA news on Youtube Jan 1 2019

January could be a busy month for Arsenal in the transfer market.  New head coach Unai Emery has settled well into his position as Arsene Wenger's successor and oversaw five new arrivals during his very first transfer window in English football

Switzerland international Stephan Lichtsteiner was first to join as he completed a free transfer from Serie A giants Juventus, then Germany goalkeeper Bernd Leno was next to sign on the dotted line before a flurry of signings at the beginning of this month

Starting with a £16m deal for Borussia Dortmund centre-back Sokratis Papastathopoulos , followed by Lucas Torreira's £26

5m transfer from Sampdoria before French youngster Matteo Guendouzi sealed his £7m move

Whether the Gunners are able to bolster their squad further next month remains to be seen, but Emery has hinted that he hasn't ruled out the prospect of at least one new face

The transfer window opens on January 1, so who do the bookies think the Gunners have a chance of signing?   Adrien Rabiot - 14/1  Out of contract at PSG in the summer and has been linked with a reunion with Unai Emery

However, Barcelona are the favourites at 1/1 with the Gunners also behind Premier League rivals Liverpool (6/1) to land the talented French midfielder in the January transfer window with odds of 14/1

Cesc Fabregas - 25/1  What a story this would be.  The Gunners are in the market for a central midfielder with Aaron Ramsey set to leave and have been tipped to make a move for Sevilla's Ever Banega - another player whom Emery has worked with in the past

But the popular choice amongst some supporters would be to resign former captain Fabregas

He too is out of contract in the summer and there's rumours he could terminate his Chelsea contract and leave for free in January

Christian Pulisic - 16/1  There's somewhat of a transfer saga developing with the Borussia Dortmund winger

Reports over the weekend claimed Chelsea had agreed a £45m deal to sign the USA international in the summer and ex-Fulham striker Eddie Johnson took to social media and basically 'confirmed' the transfer

However, it would appear this is not the case and as ESPN are reporting that while the Blues are front-runners to land Pulisic, the current Bundesliga leaders are expecting an improved offer from the north London outfit given his commercial value in the United States

With that said, Arsenal are third favourites to sign the Dortmund star.   Denis Suarez - 5/2  The Barcelona midfielder has reportedly given the green light over a transfer to Arsenal in January

Following the arrivals of Arthur and Arturo Vidal in the summer, the Spaniard has fallen even further down the pecking order at the Camp Nou and has not started in La Liga or the Champions League so far this season

According to Spanish publication AS - via Sport Witness - Suarez has reached a point 'of no return' at Barca and has decided on a move to the Premier League

Arsenal are favourites for his signature at 5/2.   Gary Cahill - 5/4  It's no secret the Gunners are short of options at centre-back following a season-ending injury to Rob Holding

Hence links to Chelsea skipper Gary Cahill who has been out of favour under Maurizio Sarri during the first-half of the season

The 33-year-old is 5/4 to make the shock move across the capital and attempt to solve Emery's defensive crisis

Isco - 20/1  There have been suggestions that the Gunners could look to include Mesut Ozil in a swap deal for Real Madrid star Isco next month

London rivals Chelsea are said to interested in the Spaniard too.  This is reflected in the betting odds as Arsenal are at 20/1 with the Blues favourites at 8/1

Kalidou Koulibaly - 20/1  Long linked with an exit from Napoli and nobody could begrudge him a move as early as next month following the appalling racist abuse aimed at him during a defeat by Inter Milan recently

The Senegal international is one of the finest defenders around and would be an asset for any club

Unfortunately for the Gunners they aren't the front-runners for Koulibaly's signature

Malcom - 14/1  Linked with a move to north London in the summer, but ended up joining Barcelona

It hasn't worked out as he's not been able to oust Lionel Messi, Philippe Coutinho or Ousmane Dembele from the starting XI at the Camp Nou

There's talk of him leaving next month and the Gunners are 14/1 to get him.   Nabil Fekir - 10/1  Could a reunion with Alexandre Lacazette be on the cards for Nabil Fekir?  Came close to a Premier League transfer in the summer but Liverpool pulled out of a deal at the last minute and was said to be on the radar of Chelsea but nothing came of it

The Reds are favourites to reignite their interest in the World Cup winner, but Arsenal are second favourites at 10/1

Ousmane Dembele - 10/1  This is the one that most Arsenal fans would like to see, but it's one that is likely to remain a pipe dream

In the summer Barcelona signed Brazilian winger Malcom to go alongside Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho, but Dembele remains a important part of the team

With that said, the Gunners are second favourites behind Manchester City (8/1) to sign the Frenchman if Barca decided they no longer want him

Ruben Loftus-Cheek - 12/1  This rumour first caught wind in the autumn when Loftus-Cheek was struggling for game time under Sarri

Not much has changed in that respect, but links to the Emirates have slowed down

Still, the England international is 12/1 to swap Stamford Bridge for the Emirates Stadium in January
