The Blues were happy to pay wages of £250,000 a week to the wantaway Spain international, plus agents' fees of 10% plus a signing bonus
Yet the late demands convinced the Chelsea hierarchy that Isco was more interested in the money than playing for the FA Cup winners
The 34-cap international has made just 11 appearances for his club since the start of the season, and will be allowed to leave the Bernabeu for the right price
In better news, a move for USA international Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmnd appears to be edging closer to completion
However, the £45million deal could be delayed until the summer, leaving Maurizio Sarri keen for more additions in January
