New Zealand break medal curse. Medals are like buses - you wait 26 years for one and then two come along on the same day.

That was the case for New Zealand, as Zoi Sadowski-Synnott claimed womens big air bronze before Nico Porteous won bronze in the mens ski halfpipe.

Porteous, aged 16 years and 91 days, is the youngest Kiwi to win an Olympic medal, while Sadowski-Synnoty is the second youngest at 16 years and 353 days.

Annelise Coberger won New Zealands only previous Winter Olympic medal - silver in womens alpine skiing in 1992. Shes regarded as one of the all-time great winter sports athletes of New Zealand, so we all see that as an inspiration, Porteous said.

I would say we broke the curse today. I was extremely nervous - I actually vomited three times this morning..

Medals up for grabs in Pyeongchang. Nordic combined - mens team large hill (07:30-08:10) and team 4x5km (10:20-11:20). 11:15-12:45: Biathlon - womens 4x6km relay. 11:18-11:23: Short track speed skating - mens 500m final.

US Embassy in Montenegro attacked with grenade, prompting security scare - Duration: 1:34.

US Embassy in Montenegro attacked with grenade, prompting security scare

The U.S. Embassy in the Balkan state of Montenegro was attacked Thursday by an individual armed

with a hand grenade, who hurled the explosive at the compound before blowing himself up.

The area was sealed off by the police and the embassy warned Americans to avoid the

area because of an active security situation. The U.S. embassy in Podgorica advises U.S.

citizens there is an active security situation at the U.S. embassy in Podgorica, it said.

Avoid the embassy until further notice.

The government of Montenegro said an unknown assailant threw the grenade into the embassy

compound in the evening and then blew himself up with another explosive device.

There are no reported deaths except of the attacker.

The New York Times reported that a witness saw the man throw the object over the wall

at around midnight.

The embassy was closed at the time of the attack.

The Times reported that security officials swept the grounds and found no other threats.

Employees were told to stay home on Thursday, the paper reported.

Montenegro borders the Adriatic Sea in southeastern Europe and its capital is Podgorica.

It joined NATO last year.

The U.S. established diplomatic ties with the tiny Balkan state in 2006 after it split

from much larger Serbia.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Texas school district threatens to suspend students who take part in gun control walkouts - Duration: 2:19.

Texas school district threatens to suspend students who take part in gun control walkouts

Students across the country are joining the survivors of the shooting at Marjory Stoneman

Douglas High School in demanding that lawmakers take action to prevent mass shootings, but

one Texas school district is warning students that participating in protests will result

in suspension.

Curtis Rhodes, the superintendent for the Needville Independent School District, said

he was aware "there is a 'movement' attempting to stage walkouts/disruptions of the school"

and he threatened that students who participate in "any type of protest or awareness" will

be suspended for three days.

'Never again!': Florida shooting survivors confront lawmakers; protests gain steam nationwide

"Life is all about choices and every choice has a consequence whether it be positive or

negative.

We will discipline no matter if it is one, fifty, or five hundred students involved,"

Rhodes said in a statement.

"A school is a place to learn and grow educationally, emotionally and morally.

A disruption of the school will not be tolerated," Rhodes added.

"Respect yourself, your fellow students and the Needville Independent School District

and please understand that we are here for an education and not a political protest."

The position of the Needville school district, about 40 miles southwest of Houston, contrasts

with other schools that have encouraged student action.

For example, Jacquelin Collins, superintendent of Florida's Cape Coral charter school system

said, "I support it 100% after 200 students at Oasis High School walked out demanding

greater security.

Im glad they had the gumption to get up and speak, and Im very proud of them,"

Collins said.

There are three national protests planned in the coming months to demand gun control

legislation.

The organizers of the Women's March on Washington have called for a nationwide school walkout

on March 14 and a march in Washington is planned for March 24.

Another nationwide walkout is planned for April 20, the 19th anniversary of the shooting

at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colo.
