USA news on Youtube Feb 22 2018

Hi my name is Rachel and I'm from Dallas, Texas. I chose to come to the

University of Bologna because I've always wanted to travel abroad and I

figured why not get school credit while doing so. I chose Bologna because I've

always had friends telling me that I should come to Italy because it is one of the

most beautiful places they have ever been and so I figured why not come to

the oldest university in the world and enjoy some Italian food while I'm here.

CHARGED WITH DUI IN CAR CRASH Admits He lied to TMZ - Duration: 1:41.

CHARGED WITH DUI IN CAR CRASH Admits He lied to TMZ

Cops say as part of the investigation into Wilkos' accident, a search warrant for his

medical records was secured and it discovered his BAC was .29% and way over the legal limit

the afternoon he crashed his car.

A warrant was issued for Steve's arrest, but he turned himself in Wednesday evening in

Connecticut.

He's been charged with operating under the influence and failure to drive right.

He was released after posting $1,500 bond.

Steve Wilkos just confessed to TMZ, he lied when he told us the horrific car crash in

which he was involved last month was the result of him being distracted as he reached for

his glasses ... he was actually under the influence of alcohol.

We've learned the talk show host was charged Wednesday with DUI in the single-car crash

in Darien, Conn.

We broke the story, Wilkos struck several poles and a tree before the vehicle rolled

over.

He went to a hospital for minor injuries and his show was put on ice for a few days while

he recovered.

Wilkos tells TMZ, "Over the course of my life, I have been struggling with bouts of depression

and on the day of my accident, I had a complete lapse in judgment which resulted in me drinking

and getting behind the wheel of my car."

He went on ... "This experience reinforces my commitment to get the professional help

that I need and I have recently completed an intensive medically supervised program"

... translation, rehab.

Shooting Survivor Quit CNN Town Hall After Refusing to Ask 'Scripted' Question - Duration: 1:54.

Shooting Survivor Quit CNN Town Hall After Refusing to Ask Scripted Question

Colton Haab, a student who survived last weeks mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas

High School in Parkland, Florida, refused to participate in a CNN Town Hall on Wednesday

night after he was told to ask a scripted question.

Haab, a junior at the high school, told Fort Lauderdale ABC affiliate WPLG that CNN invited

him to speak at the televised town hall in nearby Sunrise, Florida, and that he and his

parents had dressed up for the occasion.

But CNN then told Haab he would have to read a question that CNN had prepared for him:

Haab: I expected to be able to ask my questions and give my opinion on my questions.

Reporter Janine Stanwood: But Colton Haab, a member of the Junior ROTC, who shielded

classmates in the midst of terror, says he did not get to share his experience.

Haab: CNN had originally asked me to write a speech and questions, and it ended up being

all scripted.

Stanwood: Colton wrote questions about school safety, suggested using veterans as armed

school security guards, but claims CNN wanted him to ask a scripted question instead.

So he decided not to go.

Haab: I dont think that its going to get anything accomplished.

Its not going to ask the true questions that all the parents and teachers and students

have.

The town hall was overwhelmingly stacked in favor of gun control.

Two students whom CNN chose to ask questions attacked National Rifle Association spokesperson

Dana Loesch as a bad mother.

CNNs Jake Tapper, who moderated the event, did not defend Loesch.

Parkland JROTC hero skips CNN townhall because network scripted his questions and answers - Duration: 2:23.

Parkland JROTC hero skips CNN townhall because network scripted his questions and answers

CNN threw supporters of the Second Amendment into the lions den with a town hall on

guns, but not everyone took the bait.

High school student Colton Haab was hailed a hero for shielding his classmates from a

crazed gunman in Parkland, Florida, but said when he was invited to speak at CNNs townhall

Wednesday the network organizers werent interested in what he wanted to say.

Haab, who is a Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps member, said he had expected

to ask his own questions and give his own opinions on the issues of gun control and

school safety, but discovered that he was going to be censored by the network instead.CNN

asked me to write a speech and questions, and it ended up being all scripted, Haab

said.

Haab is a supporter of putting armed veterans in schools an idea floated by many, including

President Trump, but said his opinion wouldnt be welcomed at the CNN forum.

With that in mind, Haab didnt see a point in attending the networks blatantly anti-gun/anti-Trump

show.

I dont think that its going to get anything accomplished, Haab said of skipping

the forum.

Its not going to add to the true questions that all the students, and teachers, and parents

have.

Disturbing reports of neglect by local police and the FBI have many believing law enforcement

could have thwarted the massacre if they had acted on numerous tips and police calls.

The Broward County sheriff spoke in favor of gun control at CNNs town hall and impressed

many, but not all:

The school also knew of the gunmans disturbing behavior and threats and clearly didnt

do enough to take the threat seriously.

Learn more about RevenueStripe...

It seems Haabs suggestion of employing armed veterans at the school might have thwarted

a horrific massacre better than relying on the government who failed on my levels to

protect the school and its students.

Remarkably, Haab and fellow hero students jumped into action, making a Kevlar curtain

to save lives.

Three JROTC members died while protecting their peers and were awarded Medals of Heroism

by the U.S. Army.

US Women's Hockey Team Wins Gold, Beating Canada In Penalty Shootout Thriller - Duration: 2:47.

U.S. Women's Hockey Team Wins Gold, Beating Canada In Penalty-Shootout Thriller

The U.S. women's hockey team owns Olympic gold for the first time in 20 years, after

breaking Canada's remarkable streak of success in a gripping final at the Pyeongchang Winter

Olympics.

The only previous U.S. win had come in the tournament's first year, in 1998.

When the American women finally received their gold medals, they were placed on their necks

by former player Angela Ruggiero who was on the last U.S. Olympic team to win it all.

This game was far from easy for the players on either side, and for their fans.

Regulation time had ended with a 2-2 tie and when a 20-minute overtime didn't produce a

sudden-death goal, a penalty shootout also ended in a 2-2 tie.

That sent it to a sudden-death shootout to decide who would wear gold.

Canada had taken the first shot in the first round of the shootout and to lead off

the second, the U.S. sent Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson skating out.

"The last shootout against Canada, I looked like an idiot," Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson

said after the game.

But since that past failure, the American said, she's been working on her penalty shots

 and it showed on Thursday.

Starting from center ice, Lamoureux-Davidson used some artful stick handling to get the

puck around and past Canada's goalie, changing directions several times.

It confounded Canada's goalie Shannon Szabados, who had shone in this game.

That left it to U.S. goalkeeper Maddie Rooney, 20, to withstand the pressure and make one

last save against one of the most adept scorers in the game, in Canada's Meghan Agosta,

a veteran who began her Olympics career in 2006.

When Rooney foiled Agosta's shot, both the game and the U.S. gold drought were over,

after three hours of intense and physical play and tension at the Gangneung Hockey Center.

"We worked on this a lot.

I was basically trying to do the same thing [as on her first, successful try in the shootout],

but she was out too far," Agosta said later.

"It just so happened it didn't work out the way I wanted it to."

"I just reacted to her and then everything kind of went into a blur," Rooney said, "When

she cut across like that, a lot of people tend to go five hole so I kind of anticipated

it."

After she made the save, Rooney said, "Everything got into a blur, seeing my teammates sprinting

at me.

It's an indescribable feeling."

Her teammates were scrambling over the bench wall; gloves were flying all over the ice

as the Americans finally celebrated at the end of an Olympic tournament.

When they reached Rooney, they piled on.

World champions Mercedes officially unveil 'much improved' new car - Duration: 2:42.

World champions Mercedes officially unveil 'much improved' new car

Mercedes have officially unveiled their new car at Silverstone - and in an ominous warning

to the rest of the grid, Lewis Hamilton has declared it 'better than last year's car in

every aspect'.According to the reigning world champion, the elaborately named Mercedes-AMG

F1 W09 EQ Power+ is an evolution of the car that won 12 races and took 15 pole positions

in 2017, taking him to his fourth drivers crown as the Silver Arrows simultaneously

secured a fourth straight constructors title.

"Last year the car was fantastic, but there were so many things we could still improve

on," said Hamilton.

"What weve done is taken a lot of the DNA from last years car - this is the sister

car, an evolution of that.

"This is better than last years car in every aspect.

It looks quite similar but inside, underneath the shell, and even the bodywork, its all

refined to perform even better than it did last year.

"Im really excited because there were some races - like Silverstone - that were very

successful for us, but then there were some races where we struggled.

Understanding where our weaknesses were and then working on them has been at the forefront

of our goals and minds.

"The engineers have done a phenomenal job Im really proud and grateful for all

the hard work thats gone in.

Im fit and ready to take [the new car] where it needs to go."

Positive first impressions

The W09 was presented to the worlds media following an earlier shakedown run on Silverstones

International Circuit, with Valtteri Bottas giving the car its maiden outing ahead of

a similar familiarisation stint for Hamilton in the afternoon.

Running on demonstration tyres on a damp track, the Finn said it was hard to glean too much

but that the new car 'felt good'.

"The conditions are what they normally are at Silverstone at this time of the year, but

everything was working well," he said.

"The car felt good and the engine was running well, so it's a start."

"All the hard work, all the long hours over the winter have brought the car to life,"

added team chief Toto Wolff.

"Doing the first laps and seeing the car is working ok is a very exciting moment.

"We won the championship last year but it was difficult at times, some really strong

opposition.

We needed to find the right balance between developing our car without losing its raw

speed.

Last years car was the fastest car on track it won the most races and had the most

pole positions.

We needed to preserve that."
