Heat-seeking helicopters, dozens of police officers and baited traps are deployed across South Wales as huge search operation is launched for missing lynx who escaped from a wildlife park

A lynx has escaped from a Welsh wildlife park with rangers warning it could attack members of the public.

The Eurasian lynx has gone missing from Borth Wild Animal Kingdom, near Aberystwyth, and owner Tracy Tweedy is now setting baited traps to catch it.

Police said the animal, twice the size of a domestic cat, vanished some time during the past five days.

Ms Tweedy, 47, said: The lynx was last seen eating on Tuesday but on Thursday people believed they saw her hiding in the bushes.

"She has hidden before.

We thought she might be hiding or injured but then it was clear that we couldn't catch her.

I'm pretty sure she's still on our hill.

The police helicopter believes they saw her last night.

I'm pretty convinced I heard her up there this morning.

Once we know where she is we can set traps for her.

A park official said: We have fully-trained keepers on hand to deal with the situation.

She is not used to hunting live prey but will chase rabbits and rodents when she gets hungry.

Lynx can travel about 12 miles a day, but the chances are she hasnt gone far.

We will be putting out camera traps around the perimeter of the zoo and relying on sightings by the public.

Once we learn her location and follow her trail pattern we can set up monitored traps to catch her.

The lynx, named Lillith, is tan and white with dark spots on her back and legs, with a thick, stubby tail, no more than six inches long.

A Dyfed-Powys police spokeswoman said: We are advising public in the area to be alert and vigilant.

The animal should not be approached as it could become aggressive if cornered.

The lynx is unlikely to approach people, but may attempt to take livestock or pets as food.

It is a mystery how she escaped - we cant find any holes in the cage or overhanging branches she could climb.

Police believe she may stay close to the zoo where her mother Denere is a star attraction.

Another adult female and two of Lilliths siblings are kept in the secure cage at the zoo which also has lions.

But the missing lynx is capable of fending for itself and could wander across country.

Ms Tweedy said: She is not dangerous unless you tried to catch her in which case she is very dangerous and has very sharp teeth and claws.

We think she will stay nearby and the police helicopter saw her in a field not far away.

But she is capable of hunting food for herself so we hope she doesnt go far.

Baited traps have been set on land close to the animal park which was taken over by Mrs Tweedy and her artist husband Dean in May this year.

The couple paid £675,000 for the zoo with 300 animals, including the lynx and two lions called Zulu and Wilma.

The BBC were filming a documentary at the attraction when Lillith escaped last week.

Mrs Tweedy said: She is lovely to look at and quite confident.

But she is wild, you cant pet her and she has never had human contact.

A plan to reintroduce the lynx into Britain, where they lived wild 1,000 years ago, was slammed by the National Farmers Union because of the danger to livestock.

Tearful blogger who leaked footage of her Apple engineer dad's iPhone X on YouTube says he's been FIRED and begs people not to harass him

Apple has reportedly fired one of its engineers after his daughter leaked details about the upcoming iPhone X on her YouTube channel.

On Wednesday Brooke Amelia Peterson posted footage of the 10th anniversary iPhone, which she claimed to have picked up when visiting her dad at Apples California HQ.

But in a new video posted on Saturday, Peterson said that her honest, wonderful dad had lost his job as a result of her video, and begged users not to target him.

You know what guys? Hate on me all you want, but please dont hate on my father, because hes the best person, she said, welling up.

Peterson recorded her first video while visiting Caffè Macs, the cafeteria at Apples HQ in Cupertino, California, last week.

That video - which she has since deleted at Apples request- shows her father using the iPhone X to automatically pay for lunch before he lets her use it.

He is quite aware that she is filming as she activates the Control Center and swipes through the Home Screens pages.

The pair also play with animoji, Apples animated emojis that mimic the users expression, with her father holding the phone up for her.

Unfortunately for him, that video - which Peterson says she never expected to go viral - led to her father losing his job.

At the end of the day, when you work for Apple it doesnt matter how good of a person you are, if you break a rule youve gotta go, she said in her latest video.

But she adds: Im not mad at Apple, Im not going to stop buying Apple products.

Rules are in place for the safety and happiness of workers, and my dad takes absolutely full responsibility for the one rule that he broke..

She added that her dad had a good run on Apple, and despite him being fired, well be okay.

As well as Animojis, Petersons video shows the elongated side button and space gray coloring on the back of the device.

The $999 (£999 in the UK) iPhone X features an edge-to-edge display with richer colours, and facial recognition software called Face ID that allows users to unlock the phone without the need for a fingerprint reader or physical home button  .

The new iPhone, which is being released on November 3, has an all new display, called the super retina display.

On the diagonal, the display is 5.8 inch, with over two million pixels - the highest resolution and pixel density ever seen in an iPhone. It also features an OLED display.

With the phone, users will be able to raise it to wake, or tap the screen to wake - because Apple has ditched the home button.

To reach the home screen users now swipe up from the bottom of the screen.

According to a Reddit discussion among past and former fast food chain workers, the fishy treat is the one item on the menu you should never order.

As its never as popular as a burger and fries, theres a good chance your fish sandwich will not be freshly cooked, with one McDonalds worker claiming your order could have been sitting in a heated cabinet for hours.

They advised customers to ask for their Filet-O-Fish to be prepared there and then to ensure youre not being served food thats been slowly congealing.

MailOnline has contacted McDonalds for further comment.

Another added that they worked at McDonalds three years ago and that the Filet is not fresh by any stretch of the imagination.

However, one fan of the fast food chain said that theyre not actually troubled by the fact that their go-to comfort food isnt fresh.

I feel like that is the social contract I make with McDonalds whenever I order the Filet, the y wrote.

If you are going to serve me a square piece of fish that tastes the exact same in Denver or the south of France I am under no assumption that it is by any means fresh.

Previously fast food workers have taken to Reddit to warn against order Subways oven roasted chicken, which one claimed was actually boiled in a microwave.

Chicago Bears tight end Zach Miller had emergency surgery in order to save the left leg he injured on Sunday night.

The surgery was aimed at repairing an artery in Millers leg, and required grafting tissue be removed from Millers right leg in order to repair the damage to the artery, according to ESPN.

The procedure was performed in New Orleans by vascular surgeons after the Bears 20-12 loss to the Saints.

Officially the injury was ruled as a dislocated knee, but sources told ESPN that the problem was more significant than a regular dislocation.

Miller, 33, was trying to make a 25-yard TD catch when his left leg got bent in an unnatural position as he landed in the end zone at New Orleans.

The injury was replayed several times on the scoreboard and officials overturned the potential touchdown catch, saying the ball came loose when the 33-year-old tight end crashed to the turf.

It appeared that Miller only let go of the ball on the ground because he was in pain.

Miller remained on the field for several minutes before being carted off.

It was the latest in a long line of tough injuries for Miller.

After making a career-high 47 catches in 2016, he missed the final six games with a fractured foot.
