Cuba Airlifts 6 Dolphins To Safety As Hurricane Irma Slams The Island Activism · Animals · Breaking News · News · Positive News · Wild Life By Amanda Froelich Posted on September 10, 2017

Activists worked fast to transport six dolphins in Hurricane Irmas path to safety.

Before Hurricane Irma could unleash its fury on Cuba, activists banded together to evacuate six dolphins from the Dolphinarium in Cayo Guillermo, a small island north of Cubas mainland.

The British newspaper Mirror reports that the mammals were wrapped in wet towels to ensure safety, then were put in helicopters traveling to the southern province of Cienfuegos.

The southern part of Cuba is thought to be a safer spot from Irma's spot, which is why the dolphins were quickly moved there.

Upon arriving, they were transferred to a swimming pool, reports the newspaper.

Gonzalo Carrero Escobar, the Dolphinarium manager, told the press that the pool offered dolphins "similar conditions to their natural life." While a swimming pool will never compete with what the wild has to offer, the important thing is that the dolphins are secure.

If weather conditions become unsafe in the pool, the mammals will be transported to a saltwater swimming pool at a nearby hotel.

Hurricane Irma, which downgraded to a Category 4 then surged back into a Category 5 storm, has left destruction and heartache in its wake.

As of Friday night, at least 20 people were confirmed dead, according to the New York Times.

Florida officials are still urging people to evacuate, as the storm's path has shifted to the western coast of the state.

By now, most civilians in Florida are bunkering down and waiting for the hurricane to pass.

We can only hope that the majority of people and animals have found adequate shelter.

In the Caribbean, Irma reportedly destroyed 90 percent of the island Barbuda.

It also caused extensive damage in St.

John, St. Barths, and created power loss for thousands in Puerto Rico.

While there is presently more negative than positive news to report — specifically to do with unruly weather patterns, at least activists can celebrate the rescue of six lucky dolphins.

Bizarre toothpaste pregnancy test attracts surge in women - Duration: 4:25.

Surge in women trying bizarre DIY pregnancy test that mixes TOOTHPASTE with urine - but doctors warn there's 'no evidence' it works

Countless women are trying a bizarre pregnancy test that mixes toothpaste with urine to see if they are expecting a child.

The strange DIY method has become something of a social media phenomenon in recent weeks, attracting huge attention.

Hoards of hopeful women have posted images of them trying the technique, amid claims urine will fizz and turn blue if they are carrying a child.

But doctors have slammed the toothpaste method, which is said to work better in the morning, stating theres no evidence it works.

Mark Kilby, spokesperson for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, said that only pregnancy tests should be used.

The strange toothpaste method works by detecting the hormone human chorionic gonadatrophin (HCG), which is made by pregnant women.

Standard pregnancy tests, which can be bought at supermarkets and pharmacies, use this same technique - and are proven to be 99 per cent accurate.

Mr Kilby told MailOnline: There is no evidence that toothpaste can detect HCG in a woman's urine.

TOOTHPASTE FUELING DRUG RESISTANCE? A common ingredient in toothpaste could be causing antibiotic resistance and fuelling the spread of superbugs, research earlier this month hinted.

Scientists found triclosan, a chemical found in toothpaste, could be making bacteria more immune to antibiotics.

The study found bacteria exposed to triclosan could become more resistant to a group of antibiotics known as quinolones.

Quinolones are a common antibiotic used to treat urinary tract infections, sinusitis, bronchitis and pneumonia.   .

Women should not rely on DIY methods to confirm if they are pregnant or not.

If a woman suspects that she may be pregnant, she should take a pregnancy test..

The bizarre toothpaste method came to light following a series of YouTube clips that demonstrate how to do the test.

Such footage, some watched by millions, has been behind a spike of women checking out the trend on Google, figures suggest.

In it, advocates say that the technique works better early in the morning because this is when urine has the highest amount of HCG.

Stuart Gale, chief pharmacist at Oxford Online Pharmacy, told the Huffington Post that the test shouldnt be taken too seriously.

He said: The fizz in the toothpaste is caused by the acid in the urine reacting with the calcium carbonate in the toothpaste to give off carbon dioxide.

The more acidic the urine is, the greater the fizz.

Whether or not a person is or isnt pregnant wouldnt make any difference.  .

Jerry Jones Keeps Promise, Fires Player Who Protest Anthem| MK Entertainment - Duration: 4:11.

Dallas Cowboy Fire Player Who Protested National Anthem.

Earlier this month, in the midst of yet another round of NFL-wide national anthem protests,

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones promised that "if there's anything that is disrespectful

to the flag, then we will not play.

OK?

Understand?

If we are disrespecting the flag, then we won't play.

Period."

During last week's game, two players — David Irving and Damontre Moore — raised their

fist during the national anthem.

By Wednesday, Moore was gone.

The Cowboys insist it was a football move, and the fact that Irving is still with the

team shows that Jones isn't going to follow through wholesale on his threat.

But it sent a message to anthem protesters: If you're expendable, protesting the anthem

isn't going to help your career prospects at all.

According to NBC Sports, Moore was released this week to make room for kicker Mike Nugent.

"We had to make a roster move and we just felt like the best decision for our team was

to release Damontre Moore," Cowboys Coach Jason Garrett said.

Moore was a marginal player at best.

He has never started a game in a seven-year NFL career and was suspended for the first

two games of this season.

It was also reported he was involved in an altercation at a nightclub Thursday night,

although he apparently was not the party that started it.

When asked if any of these things — particularly raising his fist at the end of the national

anthem — played a part in his release, Garrett said no.

For his part, Jerry Jones said in his post-game news conference that he was unaware anyone

had raised a fist during the anthem.

And, of course, there's the fact that Irving raised his fist, too.

But, see, Irving is a better, younger player.

Someone needed to go.

And that someone was the more marginal player.

The Cowboys might claim the protest had nothing to do with their decision on Moore.

However, the numbers don't lie.

Fifty-five percent of Americans think that kneeling during the national anthem is an

inappropriate way to protest, compared to only 41 percent who do.

The NFL's ratings are down.

A recent Fox News poll shows that the league's favorability percentage is down 18 percent

since 2013.

The message is clear: America values the flag and the anthem.

They aren't terribly fond of players who don't.

Ergo, players who don't value the flag or anthem are less valuable to teams.

This doesn't mean that Colin Kaepernick is being purposely kept out of the league

(his absence from the NFL stems from a number of other factors, many of which we've chronicled

) or that players are being blacklisted for their political beliefs.

It's just that their insistence on trying to force their political beliefs on the American

public make them worth less to a team than other players.

So, no, Jerry Jones did not fire both players and thus tell the world, like Martin Luther

defending his theses, "Here I stand, I can do no other."

He did what any businessman would do: He counted the numbers and lo and behold, he found Mr.

Moore was the most expendable.

For his part, Moore insists the fist isn't about disrespecting the flag, just like every

player who protests the anthem says it's not about disrespecting the flag.

"Everybody is entitled to their opinion.

Who is to say I'm right?

Who is to say they're wrong?

Who's to say that they're right?

Who's to say that I'm wrong?"

Moore said, adding he had family members in the military.

"At the end of the day, you do whatever you do, but I know I am going to stand up

and not disrespect the flag like that."

"It's just something that I do," Moore said of raising his fist.

"I've got my morals.

I've got my values and my things that I think about.

I don't want to cause no attention to nobody else and bring unwanted attention, but on

the same token, you know, there's certain things that people are doing it for.

So, for me, it's just one of those personal things that I do."

Unfortunately, most NFL fans have different values, as the numbers show.

That's why the NFL is in trouble, and it certainly could have something to do with

why Damontre Moore doesn't have a team.

What do you think about this?

Woman charged with attempted murder for penis hacking - Duration: 3:06.

Woman who hacked off her drunk husband's penis when he tried to rape her in front of their children faces attempted murder charges

A woman who hacked off her drunk husbands penis when he tried to rape her in front of their children is facing attempted murder charges.

A woman who hacked off her drunk husbands penis when he tried to rape her in front of their children is facing attempted murder charges.

The enraged wife, not named in local media, told police her husband named as R.

Ravinder had come home after a lunchtime drinking session and began to grope her.

She says she grabbed a kitchen knife and sliced off his genitals, say investigators in Sirisedu, India.

Ravinder, 40, is reported to be recovering in hospital, but local media did not report whether surgeons were able to reattach his severed manhood.

A local police chief told Indian media: The incident took place when Ravinder was harassing the woman after getting drunk.

Neighbours told us that the couple often fought whenever Ravinder came home drunk.

Unable to bear the harassment, she took a knife and chopped off his penis.

We have filed a case under section 307 of IPC (attempt to murder) against the woman.

Ravinder is now being treated at a government hospital in Jammikunta.

But his wife remains defiant, saying she acted in self-defence.

She told local media that her husband harassed her sexually every time he got drunk.

But when he tried to rape her in the presence of her children, she became so angry and frightened that she was forced to use extreme measures to stop him.

It was not clear whether rape charges against the injured husband were being pursued.

Three months ago in a similar incident in Tamil Nadu, a wife now facing assault charges chopped off her husbands penis when she discovered he was cheating on her.

Woman cured of sciatica within hours of using cannabis oil - Duration: 7:42.

Woman cured of sciatica within hours of using cannabis oil she bought online

A woman who spent 13 years in crippling pain that reduced her to tears says she has been cured thanks to cannabis oil.

Brenda Davidson says she is virtually pain free since using the oil, which is legally available because it doesnt contain THC.

A day after trying her firstdrop of the oil she said: I cant believe this, I am not in any pain! Brenda, 55, from Kirkwall, Orkney, said: My hairdresser has done a lot of research into the cannabis oil, and said her mother had seen tremendous results. She was putting three drops under her mothers tongue and she reacted very positively to it.

She told me that everyone will be different; it will depend on the individual. She is planning to stop taking the conventional tablets completely once she is confident the cannabis oil will continue to work.

Brenda was sceptical, but thought she had little to lose by giving it a go.

It took her about a fortnight before she finally had a look online to see what she could find.

Initially, Brenda opted for a cheaper product, which she found did not work, so she then tried the company CBD Brothers, which had been recommended to her by her hairdresser.

It costs £54 for a 10ml bottle, but it lasts me six to eight weeks.

I remember it was a Saturday that it first arrived home, so I tried it, then again on the Sunday, but it wasnt until the Monday, at work, that I thought I cant believe this, I am not in any pain! As a former cafeteria assistant, Brenda was on her feet for long periods in a day – and was often reduced to tears with the level of pain.

She suffered from sleep deprivation, and tried to hide the agonising pain as best she could from close family, but was unable to walk for any distance – something which is no longer a problem since taking the oil.

Brenda said she had been on holiday in Italy some 13 years ago when, completely out of the blue, she began to feel some strange pains – looking back now, she believes that she may have ignored some of the earlier signs.

What is cannabis oil and is it illegal? CBD Brothers website explained that cannabidiol oil is a cannabis-derived nutritional supplement which possesses a range of medicinal benefits reported to help people with the following conditions: cancer, epilepsy, rheumatism, migraines, psoriasis, diabetes, anxiety, acne, depression, nausea, neuropathic pain and many more, they claim.

Crucially, it does not contain any THC, the psychoactive component of cannabis; in other words, CBD does not get you high.

Since last year, it has been legal to buy in the UK, after the Governments Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHPR) approved its use as a medicine under licence.

Cannabidiol, or CBD, is one of more than 80 cannabinoids, natural compounds found in the marijuana plant.

Extracted from the plant as a mineral-rich oil, it is usually bottled with a dropper – but you can also get it in the form of chewing gum, soap or as a vape oil for e-cigarettes.

It has no side effects, either, and is not addictive, CBD Brothers state.

I just took painkillers at that time, and went to see the doctor when I got back home.

Again they gave me painkillers, and I got an x-ray at some point but nothing showed up.

It got to the point that I could no longer walk the dog.

I would be in so much pain and just come home crying my eyes out.

I have been on different painkillers over the years and they put me through physio but it did not really help. Brenda and her husband, Raymond, have recently moved to Nairn – an ambition for a long time – something which she has been able to enjoy, being almost pain-free again.

If it does start to niggle a bit by tea-time I just take another drop and its fine again – I really did not think it would work, but it has.

The NHS should definitely look into providing it on prescription – surely it would work out cheaper for them than giving out all these prescriptions for painkillers.

Altogether, it is the best £54 I have ever spent! Cannabis oil is not approved by the Scottish Medicines Consortium for use on the NHS in Scotland, so it isnt generally available.

However, patients can make special requests for any medicine not approved by the SMC.

This has to be signed off by their GP or consultant, and is then considered by a panel of relevant experts.

Christopher Nicolson, director of pharmacy at NHS Orkney said: Cannabis oil has not yet been considered for use in Scotland by the Scottish Medicines Consortium, therefore it is not yet available on prescription.

However, in general terms, there is scope for doctors to make a request if they wish to prescribe the product.

This involves an application being made to the office of the Medical Director.

NHS Orkney would then consider the request, and take expert advice before any agreement to fund the treatment.    .

Man describes gang rape of girl, 16, 'like throwing piece of meat at wolves' - Duration: 2:49.

Man describes gang rape of girl, 16, 'like throwing piece of meat at wolves'

A man convicted over the rape of a 16-year-old girl which was filmed on a GoPro camera two years ago said it was like throwing a piece of meat to a pack of wolves, a court has heard.  Tristan Carlyle-Watson, now 27, also boasted that he had left the teenager naked in a park after the attack, crown prosecutor Sharon Harris said at his sentence hearing in Sydney today.

The 27-year-old was found guilty of one count of aggravated sexual assault in company in August following the gang rape of a teenage girl at a house party in St Clair in May 2015.

His co-offenders Andrew Waters, 25, and Kurt Stevenson, 26, were each found guilty of multiple counts.

The crown prosecutor was outlining remarks that were made by the 27-year-old in a series of Facebook messages to the host of the male-only house party.

The trial heard how police discovered a 17-minute-long GoPro video of the gang rape while investigating another offence.

The victim, who was said to have been unconscious at the time and who has a mild intellectual disability, has no memory of the 2015 attack and hasn't seen the footage.

Carlyle-Watsons lawyer Paul Glissan said the words said by the victim in the footage could be interpreted as words of consent.

Mr Glissan added that Carlyle-Watson had not been aware the victim was vulnerable.

Judge Sharron Norton said: It would have been apparent she was young and there by herself wouldn't it? Ayden Devereux, who filmed the attack, was jailed for at least five years earlier this month.

The hearing is due to take place next month.

This Man And His Rescue Cat Have Traveled 31,000 Miles In Their Camper Van [Watch] Animals · Life · News · Positive News By Amanda Froelich Posted on October 27, 2017

Together, Rich East and his cat, Willow, have explored Australia's six states and two territories.

Life on the road isn't for everyone, but it certainly suits Australian resident Rich East and his rescue cat, Willow.

Approximately two years ago, the duo embarked on a cross-country road trip in his simple van conversion.

So far, they've seen the country's six states and two territories and in total, traveled 50,000 kilometers — or over 31,000 miles.

MyModernMet reports that East gave up a conventional lifestyle in 2015 so he could follow his dreams and see what the world has to offer.

He explained, "I sold my house, all of my possessions, and quit my job so I could take the trip of a lifetime.

But one thing I couldn't say goodbye [to] was this little cat so the obvious decision was to take her with me.".

As is evident by the photos, East and Willow's bond is solid.

Together, they've relaxed along the coastline and camped in the mountains, where dirt roads are the only sign of civilization.

Unlike most cats, Willow is suited for nomadic living.

Said East, "Some people think it's odd that I'm traveling with a cat, but Willow is so chilled out and absolutely loves our new lifestyle." Of course, he takes precautions to ensure her safety.

For instance, Willow always wears a special collar that tracks her location.

"With the tracking collar, I have the peace of mind that if she decides to go for a hike I will be straight onto her," said East.

Earlier this year, the pair's giant road trip officially came to an end.

However, they have since "adapted to live on the road" and don't have any intention of stopping.

Their trips are chronicled on Instagram, where East also shares some of his best travel photography shots.

You can learn more about the East and Willow by visiting their website, Van Cat Meow.

In 2015, Rich East quit his job to travel Australia with his cat, Willow.

Since then, the duo has explored the country's six states and two territories.

Theyve camped in the mountains and relaxed on the coast…. …and in total, have traveled over 31,000 miles!.

Though their trip is officially over, the pair has no intention of stopping. Watch the video below to learn more:.
