Do you dissolve your ink in something before start painting?
Or do you use it pure?
I, particularly, do not use any medium to do my paintings.
Because I believe that the ink by itself
already has the correct measure of chemical components to we do the painting.
So I don't like using mediuns, solvents,
or do any mix on the ink to make it more malleable.
I do not like doing it because,
if you use any medium, it is going to make your ink thinner,
easier to slip on the canvas...
But, at the same time, it is going to make a thinner covering.
The oiled ink has an oxidation process on its drying.
And when you use a lot of mediuns, your ink is more malleable.
But, when starts the oxidation, the covering goes thinner,
Because it dries and fixes itself on the material of the canvas.
And as much mediuns you use, thinner your ink will be when it is dried.
And as much thinner your ink, it tends to "disappear" faster of the canvas.
If you use pure ink, it will last for much longer than a "mixed" ink.
With mediuns, or with more mediuns than are already on the ink.
The drying component and the solvent, that are necessary to paint, are already on the ink.
If you add more of these, intending to make it more comfortable to paint, BE CAREFUL, ok?
First: use high-quality mediuns, if you are going to use it.
Second: do not exaggerate on the quantity.
Use as less as its possible, so it will do no damage to your work in the future.
As fewer things you add on the ink composition, the best will be the durability of your art.
