I'm a Monster Hunter veteran… I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
I am the best!
So I set off with Pedro... "Pedrito". That's my Palico. Cute as a bug.
My quest was to search for a Rathalos…
Apex predators of the Ancient Forest. Fire-breathing Flying Wyvern...
Not dragon.
When heading into battle, it pays off to keep an eye out for useful items:
honey, mushrooms, herbs to use for potions and antidotes.
So here I am. I go on to looking for scales, footprints, markings, anything to help my scoutflies lock onto the scent…
And there it was... the nest!
But were was the monster? Was it over there? Under the tree? Hiding under the lily?
I don't know... we don't know... that's the thing.
So. How do you lure a monster?
With a Rathalos, there is one method that's never let me down.
I picked up an egg from its nest, start walking around all fine and dandy, just so I could get his attention.
When I dropped it...
Accidentally!
That definitely got the Rathalos' attention.
I got a few hits in and then started taking a beating.
A wise hunter knows when he's bitten off more than he can chew,
so I... retreated.
There's no shame in that.
Then pfffff!
Boom! Multiplayer time.
Someone was having trouble with a Rathalos,
so I answered the call. No hunter left behind.
I stepped in to defend his honour. It looked like he needed it.
I just needed a Rathalos scale to upgrade my armour. That were it!
Now that I had a team, we could attack from all angles with loads of different weapons.
It was going pretty well until one guy ran off mid-hunt.
Close combat's not really my strong point.
So to make myself useful, I went back to camp to pick up a Hunting Horn,
which is this gigantic musical instrument that boosts everyone else's stats.
You can also hit things with it.
We fought and fought like crazy and, eventually, slayed it.
And I think it was my arrow that finished it off...
I don't know who got the final hit. I came for a Rathalos scale, I got a Rathalos scale.
Whatever, a kill's a kill.
Onto the next one…
