NY Gov. Cuomo wants Dreamers to attend college for free

Gov. Andrew Cuomo wants to give another break to immigrant Dreamers by extending free public

college tuition to students who were brought into the United States illegally as kids.

Cuomo tucked a provision in his $168 billion budget plan that would amend state education

law to make the undocumented students eligible for the Excelsior Scholarship program, which

covers tuition costs for students from families with incomes of up to $125,000.

On Tuesday, he said the state would continue providing Medicaid to Dreamers regardless

of any federal changes to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA.

But Republicans in the state Senate said they wont go along with Cuomos latest idea.

Trump apologizes for Britain First retweets in interview, host says

President Donald Trump apologized for retweeting content from a far-right group called Britain

First, according to Piers Morgan.

Morgan, the former CNN talk show host who conducted the interview for the U.K. television

channel ITV, posted a photo Friday of their meeting in Davos, Switzerland, and said Trump

claimed he did not know about Britain First.

I dont want to be involved with these people, Trump told Morgan, according to

the hosts tweet.

If youre telling me theyre horrible racist people.

I certainly apologize.

The furor erupted after Trump, who has almost 48 million Twitter followers, in November

retweeted three anti-Muslim videos posted by a leader of Britain First.

The tiny group regularly posts inflammatory videos purporting to show Muslims engaged

in acts of violence, but without providing context or supporting information.

British Prime Minister Theresa May and Trump traded criticism at the time over the retweets

and British lawmakers labeled the U.S. leader a hate peddler.

The U.K. ambassador in Washington complained to the White House, and Mays spokesman

said the president was wrong to retweet the groups content.

Trump responded with a tweet urging May to focus on the destructive Radical Islamic

Terrorism that is taking place within the United Kingdom instead of on him.

Trump told Morgan that he is often the least racist person that anybody is going

to meet.

Certainly I wasnt endorsing anybody.

The full interview with Trump is scheduled to air Sunday on ITV.

Trump slams report claiming he sought to fire Mueller, blames 'fake news - Duration: 1:47.

Trump slams report claiming he sought to fire Mueller, blames 'fake news

President Trump on Friday denied reports that he ordered the firing of Special Counsel Robert

Mueller in June and only backed down after his White House counsel refused to carry out

the instruction and threatened to resign.

Trump, who is in Davos for the World Economic Forum, was asked directly about The New York

Times story and said it was fake news, folks, fake news.

Typical New York Times fake stories.

The Times report said that White House lawyer Don McGahn said he would not deliver

the order to the Justice Department, according to The Times, which cites four people familiar

with the request by the president.

Trump argued at the time that Mueller could not be fair because of a dispute over golf

club fees that he said Mueller owed at a Trump golf club in Sterling, Va, the report said.

The president also believed Mueller he had a conflict of interest because he worked for

the same law firm that was representing Trump's son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner.

A Fox News source said that then-White House chief of staff Reince Priebus and chief strategist

Steven Bannon believed last summer that Trump would fire Mueller and were very worried about

the political fallout.

They said, This is going to blow up, the source said.

The report comes as Mueller moves ever closer to interviewing Trump himself.

The president said Wednesday that he would gladly testify under oath although a White

House official quickly said afterward that Trump did not mean he was volunteering to

testify.

FBI officials worried about being too tough on Hillary Clinton during email investigation, texts sho - Duration: 2:29.

FBI officials worried about being too tough on Hillary Clinton during email investigation,

texts show

FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page were concerned about being too tough on Democratic

presidential candidate Hillary Clinton during the bureaus investigation into her email

practices because she might hold it against them as president, text messages released

on Thursday indicated.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley released new messages between bureau

officials Page and Strzok, who were having an affair and exchanged more than 50,000 texts

with each other during the election.

One more thing: she might be our next president, Page texted Strzok on Feb. 25, 2016, in the

midst of the presidential campaign, in reference to Clinton.

The last thing you need [is] going in there loaded for bear, she continued.

You think shes going to remember or care that it was more [DOJ] than [FBI]?

Strzok replied that he agreed and he had relayed their discussion with someone

named Bill.

Strzok not only worked on the Clinton case, but was assigned to the special counsels

probe into Russia and the Trump campaign after a number of anti-Trump texts were discovered

on his phone.

Page also briefly worked on the special counsel investigation.

DOJ RECOVERS MISSING TEXT MESSAGES BETWEEN ANTI-TRUMP FBI AGENTS STRZOK AND PAGE

Grassley, an Iowa Republican, said Thursday in a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray

that the exchange, among others, concerned him.

The text messages that were provided raise serious concerns about the impartiality of

senior leadership running both the Clinton and Trump investigations, Grassley said.

During the campaign, the FBI investigated Clintons use of a private email server

while she was secretary of state.

Then-FBI Director James Comey decided against recommending prosecution, but faulted Clinton

and her associates for being extremely careless with classified information.

It's clear that [Strzok and Page] did not want her charged, Rep. Trey Gowdy, a member

of the House Intelligence Committee, told Tucker Carlson Tonight. He added, They

wanted her to be the president of the United States.

Democrats see 'crumbs' and 'scraps' with new tax cuts, Americans see bigger paychecks and more jobs - Duration: 3:12.

Democrats see 'crumbs' and 'scraps' with new tax cuts, Americans see bigger paychecks and

more jobs

The disconnect between what congressional Democrats are saying about the recently enacted

tax cut and what is happening in the real world is so wide that it is getting difficult

to see across the chasm.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., who as the 15th richest member of Congress

has a minimum net worth of nearly $30 million, referred to the millions of dollars in bonuses

and pay hikes announced by more than 100 companies in the wake of the new tax law as crumbs.

Among the crumb-dispensers is Apple, headquartered just a few miles from Pelosis district.

The tech giant is paying out $2,500 stock bonuses, planning $30 billion in capital expenditures

over five years, and adding 20,000 employees. The company estimates that the direct impact

on the U.S. economy will be more than $350 billion over that timeframe.

But Pelosi is far from the only Democrat who voted against tax reform while arguing that

it would be an economic Armageddon for everyday Americans. Behind her stands a long

list of Democrats in states that Donald Trump won, in some cases by large margins, who will

have to explain how they could have been so wrong.

Heres a rundown of what some Democratic senators from states carried by President

Trump in 2016 have been saying.

Sen. Claire McCaskill of Missouri called the benefits of tax reform scraps, which

sounds even worse than crumbs. Those scraps include $1,000 bonuses for all

employees at the Bank of Advance in Advance, Missouri. Central Bancompany and BancorpSouth

are also giving four-figure bonuses to Missouri-based employees.

Sen. Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota at first tried to persuade her middle-class constituents

that they were facing a $10,000 tax increase. When that distortion was exposed, she quietly

backtracked, although she still has not publicly acknowledged her dishonesty or apologized

to state residents.

Republicans claims that this bill will provide robust, sustained economic growth

are not true, Heitkamp said. Since she said that, there has been nearly nonstop news

coverage of bonuses, wage hikes, and new investment announcements benefiting millions of Americans

directly attributed to the tax reform bill she opposed.

Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio said he introduced multiple amendments that could have put real

money in the pockets of Ohioans. Instead Washington chose to cut taxes for millionaires and corporations.

But Ohioans in every tax bracket will get a tax cut, and the typical family of four

with the median income will get a tax cut of more than $2,000.

While a host of the corporations that Brown derides are offering bonuses and wage hikes,

big companies are not the only ones rushing to share the benefits of tax reform with their

employees. Bruns General Contracting in Tipp City, Ohio, is investing in plant and equipment

and boosting retirement benefits. Coach, Truck & Tractor in Conneaut, Ohio, boosted Christmas

bonuses for its seven employees.

Trump Offers Prayers For Girl Getting Brain Surgery - Duration: 2:50.

Trump Offers Prayers For Girl Getting Brain Surgery

President Donald Trump offered prayers for a little girl undergoing brain surgery to

treat a rare disease.

In her press briefing, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders spoke of Sophia Campa-Peters

and her brave battle with the disease before passing on a message from the president himself.

"Today, an inspiring family and a brave little girl from Brownfield, Texas, are facing a

challenge that is inspiring their friends and neighbors, and now, hopefully, an entire

nation," Sanders said.

"Nine-year-old Sophia Marie Campa Peters suffers from a rare disease that causes the blood

vessels in her brain to narrow and close.

Three years ago, this condition resulted in Sophia enduring four massive strokes.

The strokes left her partially paralyzed.

Since then, she has undergone numerous surgeries, but she has faced each one of them with a

fearless exuberance for life that warms the heart of everyone she meets."

Sanders said that when doctors told Sophia she wouldn't walk again as a result of the

strokes, she immediately dismissed them.

"If youre only going to talk about what I cant do, then I dont want to hear

it," the girl reportedly said.

"Just let me try."

The girl tried and succeeded at walking, and when asked how she was able to do it, she

replied that it was because she was "awesome."

"This Friday, Sophia will undergo brain surgery at Boston Childrens Hospital, and she has

one request: She has asked the entire world come together and pray for her on the day

of her surgery.

In her amazing, nine-year-old mind, that meant creating a goal of just reaching 10,000 people,"

Sanders said.

"We want to make sure she gets that and far exceeds it.

So today, Sophia, Im here to tell you that millions of people from every corner of the

world will be praying for you on January 26th.

And among those will be people and all of us here at the White House, including President

Trump.

He told me to tell you to keep fighting, to never give up, keep inspiring us all, and

never, ever lose faith in God.

With Him, all things are possible.

Thought that was a very inspiring and a great message for all of us to remember and remind

us.

So thank you, Sophia, for your strength and for reminding us of that today."

The message quickly went viral, as did a petition website where people could sign up and pledge

to pray for Sophia on the day of her procedure.

"She has requested that the world pray for her ahead of the operation," Republican Rep.

Jodey Arrington of Texas wrote on the petition website.

"Please join me in praying for her physician as he operates and for miraculous healing

as she recovers so that she would experience life for years to come."

The petition has garnered over 5,000 supporters since it was first launched.
