USA news on Youtube Oct 24 2017

Hey guys, thank you, good morning everybody

We are learning precious new details after that deadly terror ambush that took the lives of four u.s.

Servicemembers in western Africa we are now learning they came under fire from fifty

Heavily armed militants in the fight lasted for hours. Good morning everybody

I'm bill hemmer big show this morning as we say hello live here in America's new Zima nice to have you with us today Sandra

Good morning. Good morning to you bill. I'm Sandra Smith u.s.

12 US troops and 30 Nigerian soldiers were ambushed by

Isis affiliated militants in me share and fought outnumbered and outgunned for an hour before calling for air support

chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Joseph Dunford promising answers for the families of the soldiers and the nation I

Think first and foremost in this particular case we owe the families as much information as we can find out about what happened

And we owe the American people an explanation of what their men and women were doing at this particular time

When I say that I mean men and women in harm's way anywhere in the world

They should know what the mission is we're out here today is is to take your questions and provide as much information as we have

The only thing I'm asking for today is it a bit of patience to make sure that what we provide to you

When we provide it is factual

So Lucas Tomlinson

Picks up the covers on the Pentagon there Lucas busy day yesterday and good morning there where we start coverage now with you hello

Well good morning bill the US military's top officer offered new details into the deadly attack that killed four US

Troops in his share saying that those troops when they were under attack didn't call for air support

Until an hour after the fighting started and those french jets didn't arrive overhead for another hour a full two hours after the fighting

began

When they requested support it took the French aircraft the French were ready to go in 30 minutes

And then it took them 30 minutes approximately 30 minutes to get on the scene

But it's important to note that one that when they didn't ask for support for that first hour

My judgment would be that that that unit thought they could handle the situation without additional support

That's different from the timeline first provided by the Pentagon saying the French jets were overhead within thirty minutes after being urgently

requested now officials say the 12-man Special Forces team could not

communicate with the french jets

Above making it impossible for them to drop bombs because the jets couldn't tell the difference between friend or foe on the ground

What did the general say about the search for the missing soldier sergeant David Johnson?

General Dunford said as soon as he learned that sergeant Johnson was missing

He ordered the full weight of the US military to search for him

General Dunford, when did you alert the White House? We notified the White House?

As soon as we had a soldier that was missing. It was probably around

9:00 or 9:30

Washington DC time the night of the 4th and at that point knowing that we had a missing soldier

We made a decision to make sure that all of the resources to include national assets were available

Sergeant Johnson's body was discovered two days later by Nigerian forces now questions remain about how he got separated from his unit

Dunford said US troops in each air are not allowed to accompany local forces if they expect enemy contact

But none was expected on this Patrol Dunford said a US drone was sent overhead within minutes after the attack began

But officials say if that drone had been overhead from the beginning

It could have spotted those 50 enemy forces closing in elevating our covers there Lucas Tomlinson

Thank you more to come from the Pentagon Sandra so the u.s.

Actually has a history of combating terrorism in Africa going back nearly a decade first establishing a Joint Special Operations

Task force in Nazaire in 2008 since then troop levels have reached

800 on the ground since 2011 the US and France have trained

35,000 African soldiers to fight terrorists linked to Isis al Qaeda and Boko Haram and the u.s.

role There is still

Expanding with the trump administration moving ahead with Obama Arab plans to open a second drone base at a site already

housing US forces wow

That's happening Senator Marco Rubio on the Senate Intel committee we asked him about this mission a bit earlier today

And he says he and his colleagues need answers about what happened to save

American lives in the future

Everyone here knows full well that the US has been involved in these efforts against Boko Haram in the end

What we need to get back to here is understanding

what went wrong in this mission not for purposes of casting blame or anything but to learn from it so this never happens again because

This is the not lot this will not be the last time that we deploy special operators into conditions such as these very

Interesting commas there from senator Rubio much more on that coming up in our 10:30 a.m.. Eastern hour

You'll see the full interview Dam major point in all this

6,000 US troops operating in more than 50 countries in Africa this was not a secret to anybody you could google it and find the

Information yourself, so we'll go through all that coming you look forward to hearing from him

Meanwhile President Trump will be taking some decisive action today that will allow refugees

back into the US but with a much tougher vetting process chief White House correspondent

John Roberts is live on the South Lawn John good morning

North Lawn South South Lawn is off-limits

This morning

Good morning to you Santa another deadline expiring today, and the president's travel, ban this 120 day ban on

Refugee admissions into the United States that was imposed by the Supreme Court when it reviewed the president's travel

Ban the president needs to take action on refugees so this afternoon the president will sign an executive order to suspend

section six of the travel, ban

That's the one related to refugees and will rely on American policies for refugee admission under the new guidelines

the US will for fiscal year 18 cap refugee admissions to

45,000 that's down more than 50% from the Obama

administration the US will also enhance procedures for refugee enter entries raising the standards for vetting

individuals and will apply those standards across the board for men women and children currently men are

Vetted more stringently than women and children the finer detail sander will come out this afternoon

But that's the basics of what the president will do later on today all right John and the president's heading to the hill this afternoon

He's going up to the Senate for a lunch to talk about the fall agenda clearly tax reform is going to be at the top

Of the agenda the president in a conference call on Sunday afternoon pushing members of Congress to get tax reform done by

Thanksgiving which really means get it done by the end of the year which in reality means it probably won't be done until

early next year

Tennessee senator

Bob Corker this morning suggesting that the president should keep his nose out of the sausage making part of tax reform

Pointing out the president's tweet yesterday that he would not allow lawmakers to impose a lower cap on tax-free contributions

To 401k plans to pay for tax reform listen to what senator corker said this morning

Hopefully the White House will will step aside and let that occur in a normal process. I know recently

The White House in a couple of cases has been taking things off the table

And I would just say there's a lot of work to be done the spinach part of this

The tough part of this is up coming over the next several weeks this whole idea of lowering the cap on tax-free contributions

To 401k plans drew fire from the Senate's top Democrat listen to what Chuck Schumer said yesterday?

now President Trump tweeted this morning

They were not going down that road

But the fact that Republicans were even considering raiding America's

Retirement savings to pay for a giant tax cut for corporations

estates

Shows you just how backward their plan is

and what senator corker said this morning has reignited the Twitter feud between the

President and Senator corker the president taking sharp aim at the Tennessee senator this morning in a tweet saying quote

Bob Corker who helped president obama give us the bad iran deal and couldn't get elected dogcatcher

In tennessee is now fighting tax cuts corker dropped out of the race in Tennessee when I refused to endorse him and now is only

Negative on anything Trump look at his record

exclamation point to which senator corker responded quote same untruths from an utterly

untruthful president hashtag

alert the day care staff

There is a likelihood sander that this afternoon's Senate lunch may be more of a food fight

When it comes to the president in bob corker the president will be taking questions by the way from members of the Senate

We'll see if he and corker get into it today

We shall see is exactly how we'll leave it there, John Roberts

Thank you against nothing against dog catchers Byron your cheap little responder watching examiner Foxy's contribute. I do environment good morning. Good morning

Yes, the president corker won't be sitting next to each other today. That's my guess. Yeah, pretty good bet

Listen I I think what they want to hear is

Where is the president on taxes and where is the president on health care?

Well, and it did it doesn't need to extend much more than that Byron pretty much part of what they want to hear is just

That the president is going to use his power the bully pulpit to push this from now until

It's done because you know in the Obamacare fight the president was in it sometimes and not in it sometimes was not truly

All in all the time

And they really want to see him all in all the time on on this

If if they want to hear details from the president, you know they're not gonna hear it

He's going to speak problem as he has done in in generalities

But I do think that they want to hear what he has to say about those

401k plans and by the way the president might be giving Republicans good advice about those 401k plans. They're very popular

It's a middle class tax break and there aren't that many of them

They'll want to hear about the state and local taxes

And they'll want to hear talk about him say him discuss

What we've heard about

possibly

Creating a upper bracket a higher bracket for people who make more than a million dollars a year is this the kind of lunch where?

The president gets them to go forward

It's it's been on the schedule for some time is this the nudge that you need at times to to push it through

well perhaps

It's a nudge for them to settle their differences

But I think it's it's a fact now the Republicans understand. Fully the importance of this tax thing. We've discussed this before

having failed on Obamacare if they fail on taxes

they realize they'll go into 2018 without a big legislative accomplishment and

Having broken their top two promises for this session which is to repeal and replace Obamacare if that's and will reform tax

That's political death is an environment. That's focusing their mind

Right on you don't survive in Washington let you get that done Byron. Thank you so much sir Byron, New York and watch

Thank you Bill. Just an analysis there to the dog catchers out. It's a good job

Someone's got a different take no offense for the dog cats what a morning so far

All right, well mother nature unleashing on these southeast

a

powerful storm slamming the South the latest on the cleanup straight ahead also new warnings from a key US ally regarding an

unprecedented threat from North Korea only weeks before President Trump will be in Asia former UN, Ambassador John Bolton

Joins us for his take on what's at stake on this presidential trip plus? There's this said listen

It's the same baloney they've been peddling for years, and there's been no no credible evidence by anyone

Hillary Clinton pushing back against claims of pay-to-play while she was Secretary of State saying it's all about

Republicans getting nervous about their own Russia problem, but now at least two congressional committees are

Investigating those claims our panel on that straight ahead

We're on the edge of the greatest

Corruption scandal in American history the Clintons are only a part of this. Where do you get to attorney general Lynch?

What do you get - her predecessor? This is just gonna keep on rolling?

I'll be going over to that part of the world in two weeks

And stopping in numerous countries including as you know Japan yes, South, Korea, China

we're gonna be stopping in Vietnam and

Probably the Philippines also

So it would be a very busy 10 or 11 days there will be a lot of news in this trip to

Japanese officials warning the threat of nuclear war has grown to unprecedented levels

Only days before the president leaves for Asia

As he mentioned there, South Korea Japan there on the itinerary so too is China

So as I mentioned there will be headlines john bolton from US ambassador to the United Nations and a Fox News contributor

Good morning to you Dave. Good morning

DMZ is not on his itinerary

Maybe it changes, but if he does not go there is that?

Significant to you

well it could be they don't want to advertise that he's going though the line is it's

logistical challenges and whatnot

Honestly, I think he should go I think it's important for American troops in the region to see the commander-in-chief literally right on the line

I think it's a clear message to South Korea

So I hope these

Logistical difficulties can be overcome because as you mentioned the Japanese are right there with us in assessing

Just how serious this North Korean nuclear threat is it's a very important trip at a very important time

I agree with your assessment of the DMZ still there are those who will argue you inflame you incite you provoke. Do you buy that?

In part, that's what leadership is this division on the peninsula is something

I think we should be trying to end

But I think it's important for the president to be there as I say on the front line and we'll see what happens

USS Theodore Roosevelt is heading to the region

It was last there in June is this a sign or a signal of anything

Or is it just further movements on behalf of the US Navy in the Pacific well

I think there are a number of movements that are underway especially with the president coming into the region

Wouldn't be at all surprising. I do think if there's some prospect of a military action against, North Korea

We'll see a lot more movements in the future

But I think this is more in line with just being ready with the president out there now the Roosevelt will join the Reagan

We'll see what happens there meanwhile yesterday 34 years since the Marine Barracks were attacked in Beirut Lebanon, and what a stunning day?

That was an American history arguably it was the first terror attack on behalf of the Iranian regime

Carried out by the Revolutionary Guard Hezbollah whatever mix of combination you want to throw there in Lebanon Mike Pence made

made this a point yesterday when he said the following and

president Donald Trump

Has put Iran on notice that we will no longer tolerate their destabilizing

Activities or their support of terrorism across the region and across the world I think it's a strong message

But I'm wondering what's changed in three decades

Much well very little from Iran you know people talk about

Radical Islamic terrorism and all too often just think it's al Qaeda or Isis

Hamas and they ignored that it was the Islamic Revolution 1979 in Iran that really started the

contemporary wave of radical Islamic political thinking

Whether it's Shias that was or Sunni as some others are

Iran has been the center of terrorist activity around the world ever since then including

financing Islamic terrorism whether of the Sunni or the Shia variety

And I think it's important Americans understand there were Revolutionary Guard commanders

Supervising these predecessor elements of Hezbollah that carried out that attack on the Marine Barracks

They were after Americans. They see us as the target

That's why their nuclear weapons program along with their terrorist activities has to be taken by America even if not by our friends in Europe

Has to be taken by Americans as a direct threat than us in a word can this administration

Influence that the Revolutionary Guard the leadership in Tehran do you think they can yes or no?

I don't think they can influence this leadership at all. I think this leadership in Tehran needs to be replaced

Wow John Bolton, thank you for your time

Thank you for coming up real soon and all that

Thank you and Washington Jeff Sessions says all bets are off when it comes to hunting down ms-13 gang members

Just like we took our

Component of the streets without tax laws we will use whatever laws

We have to get ms-13 off the streets the Attorney General promising an all-out assault to bring this

Notorious gang to its knees we'll tell you how he plans to do it next

Plus after a series of cryptic messages James Comey the former FBI director finally revealing

He and his

Secrecy his secret identity on Twitter

So this is rather unusual

former FBI director James Comey

Unmasking himself on Twitter he's the person behind this mysterious account Comey confirming. He's

Behind the reinhold niebuhr pseudonym. He tweeted a picture of himself with a caption goodbye

Iowa on the road home got to get back to writing will try to tweet and useful waves end quote

the unofficial account popped up in March with his meme and a link to

FBI jobs dot gov the

Account was silent for months with Internet's loose trying to prove that in fact

It was James Comey in the last week he - and it was he tweeted from Gettysburg

West Point's and the state of Iowa

You you scrub this account, right

What did you find?

Well first of all I started following the account on Twitter the first thing I did and then I noticed that he's got a hundred

And fifteen thousand followers like and he's only sent out a few tweets no song I imagine Gettysburg

He's visiting the the war site

I get imagine West Point similar with the Academy, and I think in Iowa he's getting ready for the primary

Well, there is speculation

Also that his wife caucus sorry

Iowa caucus not the primary yes his wife is from Iowa

Apparently so according to a recent report to end that it may have been someone's birthday

So who knows it's kind of funky follow them on Twitter. Yeah, you know who it is

you know

I have designated ms-13 as a priority for our

Organized crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces. I have authorized them to use every lawful tool to investigate

ms-13

And not just our drug laws, but everything from Rico racketeering to our tax laws to our farms law

Attorney general Jeff Sessions there yesterday vowing to demolish the ms-13 street gang using all legal avenues

Members are suspected of committing several high-profile killings on the East Coast including the murder of at least

22 people on Long Island, New York last year the gang also has a history of drug trafficking and money laundering

Wriggling maggots in a patient's mouth in Brazil | news 24 - Duration: 4:44.

Gruesome clip shows dentist opening up patient's mouth to find scores of wriggling MAGGOTS in between their yellow teeth

This is the revolting moment an unfortunate dentist came face-to-face with a mouth infested by maggots.

In the gruesome clip, the slimy insects, usually found in rotting meat, can be seen wriggling about in the patients mouth.

The patient, who is believed to be female because of their long hair, has her bottom lip tugged by the dentist to reveal the infestation of maggots.

Her yellow, rotting teeth protrude past her eroded gums - an obvious sign of poor oral hygiene, strongly linked to oral myiasis.

The clip, suspected to have been shot in India, was posted to LiveLeak.

It has so far amassed nearly 3,000 views. .

The unnamed patient, connected to some form of tube, can be heard breathing heavily in the 56-second long clip.

As her top lip is also pulled away, the true extent of her infestation is revealed as the insects can be seen swarming in her gums.

Myiasis comes from the Latin word myia meaning fly and iasis means disease.

The flies larvae can feed on the hosts living or dead tissue, liquid body substance, or ingested food.

When the tissues in the oral cavity are invaded by parasites, this is known as oral myiasis.

Those at risk of the rare condition include those from poorer social backgrounds and people who have suffered wounds or other injury to the face.

It is also more common in regions with a warmer climate.

Infestations of the nose and ears are dangerous because of the possibility of penetration into the brain, the fatality rate is 8 per cent in such cases.   .

Despite having no official diagnosis, the woman appears to suffer from myiasis - which comes from the Latin word myia meaning fly and iasis meaning disease.

The clip comes after a horrific footage released in March 2015 showed a young girl whose gums were infested by a dozens maggots.

Ana Cardoso, 10, had been taken to the clinic in Brazil after complaining of a tingling sensation in her gums and things moving around.

Fat animals are pictured in hilarious online gallery | news 24h - Duration: 5:07.

The cats (and dogs) that really DID get the cream! Fat animals are pictured in hilarious online gallery

A chubby hamster, a fat cat and an overweight horse are just some of the unfortunate animals features in a new online gallery.

In one snap, a chubby Basset Hound can be seen taking a well-deserved nap as it takes a well-deserved break from snacking.

Meanwhile, one hamster appears so full of food it can barely move from its curled-up position on its owners hand.

Whether the result of overfeeding or just a bad diet, these poor pets all look less than impressed at being snapped from unflattering angles in these pictures shared by their doting owners.

Time for a nap? This Basset hound was caught taking a postprandial doze on the sofa.

Not your best angle! This poor hamster looked to be so full of food it could barely move.

Why the long face? This Shetland pony looked less than impressed about sporting a massive tummy.

Im not fat, Im plus-size! This chubby feline can barely fit into a pair of childs dungarees.

Fat and proud! This canine didnt mind striking a pose to ensure its owner got its best angle.

Visitors to the zoo couldnt resist snapping a picture of this chubby animal taking a nap.

An amateur wildlife photographer snapped this image of what appears to be a morbidly obese marmot - blissfully unaware of its size.

This tiny rodent barely has room to move in its cage after stuffing itself with tasty snacks.

This well-padded orangutan apparently couldnt muster the strength to move from its comfy position on the floor of its enclosure.

Ready for winter! This little rodent is still adorable despite its extra padding.

What are you looking at? This sloth looks rather pleased with itself after feeding time at the zoo.

This poor ewe appears to be struggling to stand thanks to its oversized belly.

Hop to it! This well-fed frog is struggling under the weight of its enormous belly.

Cat nap? This gigantic moggie cant quite muster the energy to move from its comfy sofa.

Blame it on the blubber! This seal may be carrying a few extra pounds but hes certainly all set for winter.

and relax! This chubby bear was snapped taking a well-deserved break after its latest meal.

Unconditional love: This owner looks to be struggling under the weight of her giant moggie.

Feed me! This hungry feline is desperate for a snack - if only it could haul itself onto the table.

This poor hound can barely walk due to its burgeoning belly - but that didnt stop its owner taking a snap.

Nice disguise! This hungry hamster may have been trying to blend in among the cookies.

One poor bunny rabbit could be seen taking a break from snacking duties against the railings of its enclosure.

Does my bum look big in this? One seal attempts to hide its bulky frame under the water.

Timber! This chunky tabby looks dangerously close to squashing its owner flat.

It may look like a cuddly toy, but on closer inspection this appears to be a real-life penguin chick.

Looking on the bright side! He may be overweight but this bear can see the funny side of his predicament.
