Twitter Added 240 Characters?! | Saturday Rants - Duration: 6:00.
As I was saying.
What is up, my beautiful humans?
My name is Kennedy and today is Saturday.
On Saturdays I do a hilarious rant on an event that happened in the world this week.
And oh, my god so much happened this week.
Before we begin, be sure to hit that red play button for new videos three days a week where
I entertain you and help you remember to stay awkward.
Now let's see what happened in the world this week.
An earthquake in Puerto Rico and there will be links to organizations in the description
of this video, football players refusing to take a knee which I approve, and Twitter now
lets you tweet 240 characters?!
Yes, if you haven't heard or you're like me and not cool enough to be part of the test
group, Twitter is testing a new update where instead of 140 characters, you can now tweet
240 characters.
My first thought when I saw this was: okay?
I mean, Twitter is built on being the platform where you're restricted from running your
mouth.
Some people still manage to do it *Photo of Donald Trump* but the platform is fun because
you have to get creative within a very tight restriction.
Kind of like why Vine was fun.
You know, before it died.
Oh, maybe it's a good thing that there's more characters.
But Twitter was so revolutionary when it first came out.
We were forced to edit our tweets so instead of rambling on, we could get our message across
in a concise way.
So instead of saying "What the fuck is wrong with you.
You got a problem with me.
You know what, let's take it outside," you could now just say, "Cash me outside,
how about that?" and get the same message across.
What are we going to do with that extra 100 characters.
It's really not that much in the grand scheme of things.
Trump's still going to be rambling on about football instead of helping citizens, people
are still going to fight about whether liberals or conservatives are the true Americans, and
we're still going to be sending each other Gifs of adorable kittens.
And if you tweet me saying that it's jiffs I swear I will send you 240 characters of
a witty but pointless comeback!
Because that's basically all that's going to change.

It means you can tweet this:

Still a nice joke but not as iconic or memeable as the Smashmouth one.
All you get from me is a like, no retweet.
Since Twitter doesn't seem to want to give me 280 characters -
Okay, seriously, I'm confused.
Is it 240 characters or 280 characters.
It may not seem that important but this is literally the most important thing that will
happen to-
And that right there is all Twitter will allow me to do.
I'm not cool enough for 240 characters I guess.
Or 280.

I found a loophole to where I can type slightly
more than 240 you can just use a poll and then you get a whole 25 per answer wow imagine
what you can do with this life hack.
I think this is brilliant and funny at first glance.
But I've read it multiple times in preparation for this video and it's just lost its flavor.
Me when I see a tweet of 240 characters.
I have no words.

And last but not least:
I don't wanna same ungrateful but we're still gonna need that "edit" button.
We just wanted to fix our mistakes.
But it's like Twitter hear that complaint and went: you know what'll fix that, giving
you the chance to make even more mistakes.
