USA news on Youtube Sep 27 2017

on Puerto Rico but the difference is this is an island sitting in the middle

of an ocean and it's a big ocean some very big oceans and if we're doing a

really good job

we are totally prepared for the second option not a preferred option but if we

take that option it will be devastating I can tell you that devastating for

North Korea that's called the military option if we have to take it we will

from yesterday President Trump asked about it once again morning North Korea

to back off during that news conference with Spain's Prime Minister meanwhile

Rex Tillerson arriving in China this week to talk about rising tension with

the rogue nation of North Korea John Bolton former US ambassador UN failed

American Enterprise Institute Fox News contributor with me in New York and good

morning to you morning I think from the viewers standpoint the rhetoric goes

back and forth every day like a ping pong where does this rhetoric take us

well I think the rhetoric itself is not so important I think what people should

focus on is really the continuing strategic clash between North Korea and

the world it's not just between North Korea in the United States and and the

clash is North Korea has demonstrated it has nuclear weapons indeed thermonuclear

weapons capabilities and it's been launching ballistic missiles we believe

can hit targets in the United States I think that's unacceptable to the

United States and we either find a way to get rid of the regime or get rid of

the nuclear weapons or as the president said you have to look at the military

option that continues day by day no matter what so we fly a b-1b bomber over

the coast I think it was the furthest north and the closer to the coastline

and what 50 years I do believe is is the fact meanwhile that North Koreans are

moving more assets to the eastern coast of their country what does all of that

tell you then well I think the inevitable outcome here is that China is

going to have to get involved or we will be at the military option so that's why

Secretary of State Tillerson Strip is potentially important you know China's

been able to say for 25 years to the United States you deal with North

Korea's you're a problem that really has never been the case they have sustained

North Korea ever since it was founded after World War two they are responsible

for North Korea getting a nuclear weapons program as much as anybody else

it really is China's problem and somebody needs to tell them okay that

President Trump goes there in November it'll be something to watch it's just

not North Korea it's also the issue of trade so we'll see how that goes this

administration has moved China and ways on this issue that the past three

administration's were unable or unwilling to do would you agree on that

I think so at least optically I would just caution here China has done this

bob-and-weave routine for 25 years they look like they're getting serious about

North Korea until our attention gets diverted and then they go back to

business as usual I don't think we can tell yet whether

this is a permanent change but ultimately it is China that can stop

North Korea China that can stop North Korea's nuclear weapons program China

that has to be held responsible for its behavior I know you saw this interview

from yesterday Fred and now Cindy warmbier

the parents of otto warmbier were with with Ainsley and Fox and Friends and

this was this was quite a story and this is part of their accusation against that

country in government now it was astounding to Cindy and I to discover

that North Korea is not listed as a state sponsor of terror we owe it to the

world to list North Korea as a state sponsor of terror what a gripping story

they have to tell what did you think of that you know people talk a lot about

personal relations and international affairs I think that's overstated but

one thing you cannot overstate and that's the character of the regimes that

we deal with and what happened to the warmbier family tells you everything you

need to know about North Korea you know it's an embarrassment to me

North Korea was on the list of state sponsors of terrorism they were taken

off by the Bush administration that never should have happened and they're

absolutely right it should be put back on immediately why did it happen then

because the administration had fallen under the siren song of those who say

you can negotiate with North Korea you can chitchat them out of their nuclear

weapons program was wrong then it's been wrong for 25 years it's wrong today so

they have fooled a lot of people up until now three straight

administration's will see if this next one is or is not thank you sir very my

Cuba John Bolton here in studio 20 minutes past the hour now president

Trump doubling down again in his war of words with the NFL / players kneeling in

protest during the national anthem why he says he is not backing down plus the

high-profile veteran wife coming to his defense and Puerto Rico's governor says

the situation there is quote apocalyptic we're on the ground to look at recovery

efforts as calls for aid continue to rise I can guarantee to everybody that's

listening the president has called has pledged to his his support the president

is very much aware we are confident that we will get the resources bob Corker a

bit of a surprise he will not seek a third term in 2018 corker chairs the

powerful Senate Foreign Relations Committee but says he does not want to

become a career politician he had faced increased criticism from the far-right

including Steve Bannon who threatened about a primary challenge against him

senator corker is our guest next hour talked to him about all matters in DC

facing Republicans and also clearly this decision from yesterday's hose

the Trump administration is sending more ships and military aid to Puerto Rico to

address the growing humanitarian crisis caused by Hurricane Maria conditions on

the island are getting worse by the day there's a shortage of food and water

millions are without power and officials say it could take more than a month just

to restore the basics President Trump says he will travel to Puerto Rico on

Tuesday comes as lawmakers intensify calls to try to help this u.s. territory

the Governor of Puerto Rico is so thankful for the great job that we're

doing and it's the most difficult job because it's owned the island it's on an

island in the middle of the ocean there's probably some very critical

medical needs that are unmet in those areas how do you deliver medicines and

life-saving supplies across roads that might still not be navigable and so the

challenges are extraordinary right now it's search its rescue its manatorian

and when we get the information we need from the administration we will be doing

more in Congress to act on all of these hurricane victims wherever they are

Stephanie is live in catania Puerto Rico where 60% of the population is actually

homeless now good morning Garrett yes Shannan in this area west of San Juan

was one of the hardest hit by flooding and you can see seven days after

Hurricane Maria but a lot of the side roads still look like I don't know if

you can see it maybe hard but right up here on the brick this is the waterline

of where it was a week ago in the waters have gone down but still there's a foot

or two of water here on a lot of the side roads the low-lying areas of this

neighborhood and you've got to tell you this isn't just water either because

there is no power and because there's no running water there sewage system is

backed up in this neighborhood so that has worked its way up to a lot of that

and this is what folks are having to walk through several times a day to get

back to their homes to and from in order to get food water and gas and that is

forcing folks to make some extremely tough decisions we only have certain

hours with light during the day which means what do we do do we spend our time

two hours three hours in a line in the grocery store five six hours in a

line to put gas on the car and our in the ATM if you are able to find one

those are the main challenges you can see a lot of the homes in this area had

their roofs completely ripped off by Maria so while they're trying to survive

they're also trying to rebuild and several folks we've spoken to this

morning have said that yesterday for the first time they saw folks from FEMA and

the Red Cross coming through this area but the actual help the supplies like

food and water is still yet to be seen and they say

that something they desperately need Shannon yeah just hearing him describe

the very basic things that take hours and hours to get if you can even find

them a good reminder about what they're facing there Garrett thank you very much

airports dammit seaports damage to make it very difficult to access and get

personnel to Puerto Rico next hour we'll hear from Roque long he runs FEMA will

talk to him about how the US government's acting now so help was on

the way but it cannot come too quickly yeah and he was just there on my name is

since briefs the president so it'll be interesting to see what he saw there on

the ground what they're recommending to the president as Congress says they now

wait to hear from him island nation and makes it that much more difficult but

they need it so we'll check out them meanwhile enough debris to fill a

hundred and twenty-five football stadiums that's how much damage is left

behind by Harvey in Texas you've got giant piles lining the

streets of Houston so how they're handling cleanup efforts there in a

moment we'll take you there live Plus next up tax reform after the Senate

strikes out again on any kind of Obamacare repeal GOP lawmakers likely to

get an earful from their constituents Arizona Senator Jeff Flake is up for

re-election in 2018 he joins us next as Republicans vow they're not giving up

just yet this is the most important thing I can ever do for the country

working with my colleagues is not to just repeal Obamacare but to replace it

with a system closer to where you live controlled by people you can vote for

and we're going to get there

we don't have the votes this Saturday that's not because of the substance of

the idea is because of the process the hand we were dealt there's plenty of

fight left in us like there's fight left in you we haven't given up on changing

the American healthcare system we are not going to be able to do that this

week but it still lies ahead of us and we haven't given up on that data Senate

Majority Leader Mitch McConnell after Republicans well for now they're giving

up on fulfilling the GOP seven-year campaign promise to dismantle Obamacare

after announcing yesterday there's not going to be a vote on the latest

replacement bill this week here's Kelly Anne Conway this morning urging

Republicans to try to explain this to their constituents they ran successfully

on repealing replacing Obamacare they're going to have to go home and explain to

their constituents why this wasn't good enough and that's going to be difficult

for many of the people who just can't get health care and health insurance it

was Anna Senator Jeff Flake joins us now live from the hill good morning senator

hi thanks for having me on okay so you're going to face your constituents

for re-election potentially next year what are you going to tell them about

how this played out well I obviously wanted to to get this across the finish

line I voted I intended to vote for Graham Cassady I voted for the other

measures that would have repealed and replaced so you know 155 thousand

Arizonans will wake up this morning without any insurance they will have

paid a fine to the federal government because they can't find affordable

insurance and so they're hurting badly and that's why I was certainly in favor

of measures to repeal and replace do you think it's going to play a factor of

this bill in primary races like yours where you're

facing dr. Kelly ward because simply people are angry at Washington and they

don't understand how after seven years of promises the White House the Senate

in the house something didn't get across the finish line well I certainly think

if I had voted against or stood against this proposal it would negatively affect

my reelection certainly but but I've been in favor I think I voted 37 times

to repeal and replace and and would do the same now so I think for those who

were voting against it yeah they'd have a bit of problem explaining that what do

you make of the president again tweeting today about getting rid of the

filibuster in the Senate dropping that 60-vote threshold for moving things

forward I mean there's been bipartisan opposition to that idea he's not giving

up on pushing it though well we you know there is bipartisan opposition to it you

should mention that we've had trouble getting 52 votes or the 50 votes plus

vice-president needed so that wouldn't have come to play here I I think that we

ought to change behavior here in the Senate not the rules the the filibuster

rule has certainly been effective and has helped those of us who believe in

limited government were not for the filibuster rule we'd have we'd have a

probably right to work laws gone across the country a lot of other more liberal

policies would have been enacted have we not had the filibuster so I'm certainly

not in favor of changing the rules are you feeling optimistic about tax reform

there's a lot of pressure I am I do think that this is an area that fits

well under reconciliation or under the 51 votes that we need by I think that

will get several Democrats to support this we desperately need it in terms of

the jolt to the economy we have a corporate tax rate that's the highest in

the world so we've got to deal with it okay there's been a lot of talking about

Democrats working together with you on this but I want to touch on health care

because you have Republican leaders Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell

talking about moving forward that opportunity to get this done with 50

votes expires on Saturday essentially unless something that's right unforeseen

happens do you think any Democrats come together on the issue of healthcare I

mean they've said listen as long as any talk of repeal is on the table that's

the end of it no discussion with Republicans at all so with Republicans

saying we're still moving forward on health care what path do you see well

there are ways we can approach it next year we can we can also do it under

reconciliation if we write the budget that way next year but you're right as

for now we're unable to Democrats coming forward working with us I just don't see

it on this issue right now that's why I think it was important to pass something

and then draw Democrats to the table believe me this would have been just the

start there are many parts of this health care system that we would have

had to fix with a bipartisan majority and a bipartisan vote but it's it's a

shame that we couldn't get started at least all right so I want to ask you

about one of my favorite topics the Supreme Court you're getting involved

urging the court trying to take up a case based on a ruling out of the Ninth

Circuit essentially they said they don't think that it's okay for there to be a

blanket policy that criminal defendants come into court in shackles they say

they don't like the appearance of it people are innocent until proven guilty

in this country then they should be of jackals face a judge face the jury and

make their case without this presumption that looks like they're already guilty

but I know you have grave concerns about what it means to court personnel every

time people are unchecked when they come in court you don't know exactly who they

are what they're accused of and what they may be capable of so how will you

try to urge the court to overturn the ninth

well just a little background here the Supreme Court has always ruled and

there's precedent that if you're to appear before a jury then then you can't

be restrained in a way that makes you look guilty and I think that that's

necessary and proper what the Ninth Circuit has done is contrary to what

other circuits have done has said if you're to appear before a judge that

there can be no presumption there and you can't be restrained in a way that

might make you look guilty what that does in in in Arizona for example where

the u.s. marshals alone in federal courts had 84,000 prisoner presentations

or times when they brought prisoners before a judge for a plea or for an

arraignment that the judge would have to make an individual determination as to

whether or not they could be restrained and that puts so much so many demands on

the marshals and also sheriff's and local law enforcement where they can't

even put restraints on

BREAKING: NFL TO BE STRIPPED OF FEDERAL FUNDING| MK Entertainment - Duration: 3:08.

BREAKING: NFL TO BE STRIPPED OF FEDERAL FUNDING|

MK Entertainment

Amid the growing furor over the NFL's acceptance of its players disrespecting our nation, the

league is receiving some bad news from Washington.

As many are aware, the NFL benefits from billions in taxpayer subsidies, which help team owners

build extravagant stadiums they claim help improve the local economies.

However, with the recent spate of protests on the field, people from all over the country

have been calling for these subsidies to be stripped from the league, and it looks like

they're going to get their wish.

According to Watchdog.org, the federal government has given the NFL over $7 billion in taxpayer

cash to either build or revamp existing stadiums.

"Overall, taxpayers have spent nearly $3 billion on the 16 stadiums that will host

NFL games during the season's opening weekend.

And over the past couple of decades, we've given NFL teams nearly $7 billion total in

aid for their stadiums," the website stated.

Some of these handouts were to the New England Patriots, who received $72 million to build

Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass., the Pittsburgh Steelers, who received $176.1 million for

their stadium, while the Indianapolis Colts took a "modest" $619 million in taxpayer

subsidies for their stadium.

As you can see, this costs us quite a lot of money.

But because of the recent controversy surrounding the league, a bipartisan effort to strip the

funding completely is once again gaining steam.

The Daily Caller reported that a bill to remove the subsidies introduced over the summer by

Democrat Sen. Corey Booker and Republican Sen. James Lankford is gaining momentum in

the Senate.

From the Caller:

Last June, New Jersey Democratic Sen. Cory Booker and Republican Oklahoma Sen. James

Lankford put forth a bill that would ban professional sports teams from using municipal bonds in

relation to federal funding to build their sports arenas.

"Professional sports teams generate billions of dollars in revenue," Booker said in a

statement.

"There's no reason why we should give these multimillion-dollar businesses a federal

tax break to build new stadiums.

It's not fair to finance these expensive projects on the backs of taxpayers, especially

when wealthy teams end up reaping most of the benefits."

The Oklahoma Republican senator agreed, saying, "The federal government is responsible for

a lot of important functions, but financing sports stadiums for multi-million – sometimes

billion – dollar franchises is definitely not one of them."

A spokesman from Lankford's office told The Daily Caller Sunday that in the last four

weeks interest in the bill has picked up since both members proposed it four months ago.

So that's that.

Protesting the country that's given you everything, and then some, comes with consequences.

Now let's just hope that the renewed interest in this bill doesn't fade away with the

controversy.

Taxpayers shouldn't be footing the bill for these billionaires to build stadiums only

they benefit from, all while their players are protesting the country that made it possible.

Thank you for watching...

Name That Celebrity Voice! - Play Along At Home (Greg Benson Collab) - Duration: 7:17.

TOMMY: Hey, get ready everybody because today we're going to take a hearing test.

GREG: What?

TOMMY: Today we're going to play another edition of Blind vs. Blindfolded

and we've got a very special guest - the great Greg Benson. How are you doing, sir?

GREG: Hey, how are you doing? Greg Benson.

Great to be here, man. TOMMY: Well, thank you so much for

being here. Greg is somebody I've been watching his videos for a very long time.

You always make me laugh. And a lot of people know who you are

but for those who don't. Tell them about what you do and who you are.

GREG: I have a channel called Mediocre Films. It's a comedy

channel. It's a variety channel. Sketches and

pranks and man on the street stuff and I even do a bunch of characters.

So it's just a bunch of... pretty much anything I think is funny.

TOMMY: Well, for today's video we're going to see which one of us is better at identifying

famous voices. Now, for you guys watching, you're going to be able to play

along as well because we're not going to reveal the answers until both of us

have made our guesses. Alright, Greg? GREG: Yeah.

TOMMY: Alright, are you ready to put on that blindfolded for us? GREG: Yeah, you got it.

Yippee! TOMMY: Ben Churchill, would you take it away please?

BEN: Alright, here's your first voice. MALE VOICE: I watch it

a lot and always nervous

for the men and women who

are fighting. TOMMY: Do you think you know who that is? GREG: I'm going to take a guess.

TOMMY: Yeah, I feel like I know who that is. Alright, so Greg write down your answer.

So I'm going to guess first before you reveal your answer. Okay, you eady?

GREG: Yeah. TOMMY: I think that is Adam Sandler.

GREG: I just guessed. I don't know if this is correct. Hello?

TOMMY: What does it say? GREG: It just says "hello?"

I don't know if that's correct. I recognize

the voice. I think you're probably right. Was that Adam Sandler.

TOMMY: I don't know. Ben Churchill, who was that? BEN: The correct answer is: Adam Sandler.

TOMMY: Hey! Nice one. BEN: Okay, here's your next voice.

MALE VOICE: It was really hard. And because we were ourselves

it made it even weirder. And when someone

would say something that was really make fun of someone,

it made it really hard not to laugh. TOMMY: Oh, boy.

Alright, I will say that is um...

I don't know. Ryan Renolds. GREG: I'm pretty sure it is Seth Rogen.

TOMMY: [gasp] It is. BEN: The correct answer is Seth Rogen.

TOMMY: I knew it was a "Hangover" guy. GREG: I got one.

BEN: Okay. Here we go. Next one. MALE VOICE: One of the things I was most struck by

she was able to do the sort of rock star thing and be an actress as well.

A lot of people have tried to do it. It's a really hard thing to do both.

GREG: I've got a pretty good idea but I might be wrong.

TOMMY: I think that's... I don't know... Bradley Cooper?

GREG: I'm going to guess Ben Affleck.

BEN: The correct answer is Ben Affleck.

GREG: Woo! I'm so excited to see how much money I've won

at the end of this video.

BEN: Here we go. Next one. MALE VOICE: Doesn't matter to me.

I don't throw my weight around. I'm not

partying with Puff Daddy.

I'm not cutting the line. TOMMY: You know what? I think I know

who that is. GREG: Jeez. I don't know. I'm just going to take a guess.

TOMMY: Greg Benson, I think that is Bill O'Reilly.

GREG: I just guesses Denis Leary. But I don't think that's right either.

BEN: The correct answer is Bill O'Reilly.

TOMMY: Yeah! GREG: That is amazing.

BEN: Okay. Here we go. Next one. FEMALE VOICE: Um, I mean definitely we like

to go out and socialize. We're so busy working that's the only time

we go out and I go out with my sisters, but I'm

not even one to drink alcohol so it's

just funny how they kind of make it seem a certain way

and we wanted to show people what we're really like.

TOMMY: Oh, I got this one. I got this. You got this?

GREG: Oh, without a doubt. TOMMY: Yeah, okay.

TOMMY: Kim Kardashian. GREG: Mmm. Cher!

Not Cher. I know it's not Cher.

TOMMY: Well, it might be. GREG: I have not idea who it is.

BEN: The correct answer is Kim Kardashian.

TOMMY: Yeah! BEN: Here we go. Next one.

MALE VOICE: I have such a fear of being a bad

artist that I don't like to spend a lot of money.

because I don't ever want to have to go on tour

or have to do a movie because I'm paying off some tour

or some third house. GREG: Okay, I think

I know who that might be. TOMMY: I think I do too.

I think that is the great Chris Rock. GREG: Ooh, yeah.

See I don't know. I said that was Chris Rock.

BEN: The correct answer is Chris Rock.

BOTH: Yeah! BEN: Here we go. Next voice.

FEMALE VOICE: I can't imagine being with

any other human being. I married him

because he was the love of my live and

he's the most fun I've ever had. TOMMY: Alright, who do you think

that is? GREG: I'm going to take a guess. TOMMY: You're going to lock one in?

I think that is Jennifer Aniston. GREG: Okay, so I'm

guessing that is Jennifer Lawrence.

TOMMY: Ooooh. BEN: The correct answer is...

Jennifer

Anniston. TOMMY: Yeah!

BEN: Next voice. MALE VOICE: She has a wonderful glow

about her. A warmth about her that's nice.

And she's a consummate professional.

And that's nice. GREG: I'm going to take a guess

but I don't think it's right. TOMMY: I'm going way out in left field here. I feel like that's

Lenny Kravitz. GREG: I'm going to go ahead and guess wrong. I think it's

Vince Vaughn. BEN: The correct answer is...

Vin Diesel. BOTH: Ohhh!

GREG: Yeah, that's make more sense. TOMMY: Yeah, it does.

GREG: Because normally when he talks there's jazz music in the background.

BEN: Here we go. Next voice.

FEMALE VOICE: I think it is in part because the people who are on

the radio are there for largely entertainment and commercial

reasons and they say things whether or not they're true.

TOMMY: I know who that is. I know who that is. Do you know

who that is?

who that is? GREG: Yes, I do. TOMMY: I think that is former

President Hillary Clinton. GREG: Woah!

Nice. I think it is... Bar of Soap!

BEN: The correct answer is Hillary Clinton.

GREG: Wow. She was in the news a lot. You'd think I would have recognized

that voice. I didn't recognize at all. BEN: So for the final one...

it's worth 5 points. GREG: Woah!

TOMMY: You could come back and win this, baby.

GREG: So whoever wins this gets 5 points. Whoever gets it's wrongs,

you're going to cut off a finger.

BEN: Here's your final voice for 5 points. MALE VOICE: People, that's really

what they don't get, instead it's

he has this bedroom but at the same time it's two stories. It was just

kind of what friends do. I've slept in the same bed as like

a bunch of my friends. It's just kind of what happens, you know?

TOMMY: I think I know who this is. I do.

GREG: You know, I sort of recognize the voice and I can't

think of the actor's name.

TOMMY: Alright, so for the possible win... I think that was

Corey Feldman. GREG: I'm guessing that was

Tobey Maguire. BEN: The correct answer is Macaulay Culkin.

BOTH: Ohhh! GREG: Man, that's

what I said. I just spelled it wrong.

Yeah, I'm a terrible speller. TOMMY: Greg, do you

want to take off your blindfold now? GREG: Oh, alright.

TOMMY: Take that thing off. GREG: Oh, it's very bright. Hang on a second.

Oh, that's better. TOMMY: Greg, it was so great having you on

the channel. Thank you so much for being a part of it and coming to play

the game for a day. GREG: Thanks for having me. I've been wanting to collab with you for years.

TOMMY: Make sure you go over to Greg's channel. Check him out. He makes me laugh all the time.

We got a link for it right in the description there down below.

GREG: Yeah, thanks for subscribing. And if you're already subscribed, go over to my channel and unsubscribe.

TOMMY: Thanks for watching. Hope you enjoyed this edition of Blind vs. Blindfolded.

As always, if you have any ideas for challenges for this game, we'd love

North Koreans ready for apocalyptic 'do-or-die battle with US' - Duration: 2:59.

North Koreans ready for apocalyptic 'do-or-die battle with US'

The General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea issued the worrying call-to-arms as WW3 fears continue to mount.

It declared that Kim Jong-un would deal a "stern sledgehammer blow" to the US and that his loyal subjects would fight to the death against Trump's armies.

The organisation represents more than 1 million of the Hermit Kingdoms people and has repeatedly pledged its loyalty to tubster Kim. DO-OR-DIE: North Koreans have warned Trump they are prepared to lay down their lives for Kim.

"The workers of North Korea are full of enthusiasm to supply more strategic weapons and ultra-modern war hardware to front at a faster speed, which are waiting for the order for the final showdown with the US.

"We will wage increased production drive, creation drive and general charge drive through the great surge of self-reliance to settle accounts with the US imperialists, and demonstrate the stamina of the working class once again to the war maniacs hell bent on sanctions.

"We, the working class, will turn out in the do-or-die battle with the US in hearty response to the call of the respected Supreme Leader and for with the dignity and honour of North Korea the old man to pay a dear price and bring about the final victory without fail.".

BOOM: Kim Jong-un could nuke Hawaii if provoked.

KILL KIM: South Korean marines have been training to shoot the Norths soldiers on sight. Its alarming statement comes after the North moved fighter jets, air-to-air missiles and fuel tanks to strategic positions on the border.

The movement of armaments was in direct response to The Donald's warning that he would use "devastating" military action if needed. Fears WW3 is nearing reached an all-time high after Hawaiian authorities revealed the island had prepared for all-out nuclear war.

According to government files, a direct hit would kill 15,000 people and there would only be a 20-minute warning ahead of the disaster.

The Homeland Security Information Network Celebrates 10 Years! - Duration: 5:47.

- After the events of 9/11, we learned that we needed

better communication tools to connect our first responders,

our law enforcement, our intelligence professionals,

our critical infrastructure professionals.

- They really didn't have one place to come and talk,

in a real-time method, in different operational scenarios.

- You need to be able to share information broadly

to be able to make sure that everyone who's involved

has that information in a very timely manner.

And that only those people who are involved in that

have that information.

And so we started to put up tools,

simple tools for them to connect with.

Those tools have matured into a platform called

The Homeland Security Information Network.

It's a network of trust across community members

for sharing of sensitive but unclassified information.

- It lets responders know

whether they're seeing similar issues across the country.

Is this an isolated issue,

or is this something that's a little more widespread?

- Over the years, the program has evolved from

a startup, grassroots type of program

to a fully functioning program.

A pivotal moment was in the 2010 time frame

as we changed our leadership stance to make sure

that we did IT correctly.

The top priority of HSIN is to make sure that we listen

to our users and provide a user-friendly solution.

- In April of 2010, the Deepwater Horizon Oil Well

exploded in the Gulf of Mexico.

May 2nd, the HSIN team was deployed per the request

of the United States Coast Guard to support

their information-sharing efforts in the Gulf.

The amount of information that had to be shared

on a regular basis was sort of astounding.

For eight weeks, the system was really put through

it's paces and we learned, as the HSIN team,

that we really had the tools that would help our partners

across the Homeland Security Enterprise

share information better, more quickly.

And that sort of propelled the system forward

to where we are today.

- Everyday we're seeing more and more users.

Everyday we're seeing more and more use.

I'm surprised on a regular basis when we hear

about the uses of HSIN in ways that we hadn't suspected.

Who thought HSIN would be used to help secure

the Super Bowl, not just during the Super Bowl,

but a year before in the planning

for securing an event like that?

We saw HSIN being used to help the Secret Service

manage the activities around the Papal visit,

and that's a big deal for getting the Homeland Security

community to understand that this is their place to go.

- The most important aspect of what we provide users in HSIN

are the people that we have that support them.

It's not technology.

We are not a technology-driven platform.

We are a people-driven platform,

and we're providing the people who understand

what what our stakeholders need.

- We leave no stone unturned.

No issue is smaller or larger than the next.

Everyone is a VIP and we strive for excellence.

I don't think you'd find a person on the program

that feels differently.

- When you come in the front door--

- Ten years ago, we didn't have the platforms

that connected the Homeland Security Professionals.

Having someone log in to one system

and reach the ends of the United States,

that's a big deal to have today,

here at the 10th anniversary of the program.

This program has been an eye-opener for me.

I came from a background of Public Health,

and this program has given me more opportunities

to feel like I really do make a difference every day.

- Today the HSIN system has over 55,000 registered users,

and they're growing exponentially as the word gets out

that this is a trusted and secure platform.

We're setting up the HSIN system so that we can meet

the user needs quickly and efficiently,

and grow to as big as possible.

- Looking at how far HSIN's come,

and how far information-sharing has come

over the past 10 years, it's been a privilege

to watch that and be a part of that.

- I'm really proud of the work

that we've done in the HSIN program.

I'm proud of the people we've been able to attract.

The country surely does have the tools it needs

to connect itself.

When the community is connected, the country is safer.

(triumphant orchestral music)
