Trump Clears The White House In Risky Move To Make Way For Special Guests He Wants To

Pray With.

Sutherland Springs, Texas is a community that will forever be changed and the members of

First Baptist Church while battered and bruised, they are far from broken.

The White House has invited members of the Texas church where a two dozen people perished

last year to Washington for the National Day of Prayer.

The prayer service at the White House comes just two days before the six-month anniversary

of the church shooting, that took the lives of 26 members of the First Baptist Church

of Sutherland Springs.

The surviving members of the heartbreaking incident were children with one just a few

short weeks from birth.

Another 20 members were injured.

Multiple members of the same family perished and are still very much healing and grieving.

The members who will be traveling to the nation's capital for the prayer service include Pastor

Frank Pomeroy and his wife, Sherri.

Pomeroy states both he and his wife will be speaking at the White House the day before,

and then praying at Thursday's service.

Sherri describes the invitation as an honor.

The Pomeroys own 14-year-old daughter Annabelle was among the 14-year-old victims on that

fateful November 5th day.

Pomeroy also spoke of the church's plans to hold a memorial on this coming Saturday

to honor victims and survivors.

A groundbreaking ceremony will immediately follow for the new Sutherland Springs church

building to be built next to the old church.

The old church will currently and forever sit as a memorial for those lost loved ones.

The church will be built of stone, symbolizing the strength and grit of a community that

has been forever changed.

While it was hard to comprehend the incident, Pastor Pomeroy, who lost his own daughter

in the shooting, reminded his congregation to put their faith in the Lord.

"You lean in to what you don't understand, you lean into the Lord," Frank Pomeroy told

reporters during a press conference.

"I don't understand but I know my God does."

Also speaking along with shooting survivor David Colbath, his son Morgan Colbath, and

Sherri Pomeroy's sister Sylvia Timmons will participate in a prayer service with the president

for the National Day of Prayer, the newspaper reports.

According to the Dallas News

"We did not expect a personal invitation to the White House from the President,"

Sherri Pomeroy told the Express-News via text message.

"When I received that email, I confirmed the legitimacy of the invitation and accepted,

of course!"

The five Sutherland Springs visitors will be attending the National Day of Prayer's

evening services at the Capitol's historic Statuary Hall.

The Pomeroys will be interviewed by Pastor Ronnie Floyd, president of the National Day

of Prayer Task Force, and Frank Pomeroy will lead a short prayer all live-streamed across

the country.

They'll also attend a private banquet the night before hosted by the Task Force.

"We are very honored that we are invited to the White House and asked to pray for our

nation in this historic place," Sherri Pomeroy said.

"While this invitation is bittersweet because of the events that brought us to this place,

may we never turn down a forum to share the gospel of Jesus Christ wherever it takes us."

The National Day of Prayer will be held in Washington DC historic Statuary Hall, and

is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths

to pray for the nation.

It was originally created in the year 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States

Congress.

It was signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.

BREAKING SUPREME COURT JUDGE ISSUES HORRIFYING WARNING TO AMERICANS - Duration: 11:41.

BREAKING: SUPREME COURT JUDGE ISSUES HORRIFYING WARNING TO AMERICANS

Supreme Court Associate Justice Clarence Thomas says he wasn't bothered much that he was

virtually excluded from the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History

and Culture during its inaugural year, suggesting it may have been a symptom of society getting

too "comfortable" with limiting ideas.

As Christian News Alert reports, Thomas has long been praised for his constitutionalist

interpretation of the US Constitution, making him a hero in conservative circles.

Justice Thomas himself, however, has typically shied away from public statements–which

is arguably appropriate, given that Supreme Court Justices are expected to remain non-partisan.

In a rare interview on Laura Ingraham's new TV program, The Ingraham Angle, Justice

Thomas gave a dire warning about what he considers to be a danger to the free-flow of ideas in

the US.

According to The Washington Times, Justice Thomas suggested American society is becoming

too "comfortable" with limiting ideas.

The widely respected Supreme Court Justice spoke in response to his having been excluded

from the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History & Culture in its

inaugural year.

Justice Thomas was only added in September, just prior to the Museum's one-year anniversary.

Before that, the only place the constitutionalist Justice was mentioned was in an entry about

his controversial confirmation hearings, which were marred by discussions about unfounded

sexual harassment allegations from a former aide.

Conservatives largely saw the omission as a sign of conservative bias among the administrators

at the Smithsonian.

But Justice Thomas maintains he didn't care that he was originally excluded, even if his

friends and associates did.

"People who cared about me obviously did [care], but no, not really," he said.

The Justice then explained that the seeming censorship of ideas runs contrary to the open-mindedness

he encountered during the intellectual formation of his youth.

"I grew up in a time when I was just exposed to a wonderful range of ideas in a segregated

library," Justice Thomas explained, going on to say that he was exposed to a wide array

of diverse thinkers, from Booker T. Washington to W.E.B.

Du Bois.

"So you had this range of ideas, and I think we're getting quite comfortable in our society

limiting ideas and exposure to ideas," Justice Thomas continued.

"And maybe that's a symptom of it.

I don't know, but I don't think it's good for the next generation and the people

who will be learning."

Justice Thomas argued that America benefits when its citizens are willing to listen to

a diversity of opinions and engage with those whose views differ from their own.

"I think that today we seem to think that everything has to be one-size-fits-all and

people can't have opinions that make us uncomfortable or ideas that make us uncomfortable

or that we don't agree with."

He also took issue with protesters who disrespect the national anthem and flag, stating that

we need to be bound together by a common culture and values.

"I'm not surprised," he said in reference to the protesters.

"I mean, what binds us?

What do we all have in common anymore?

I think we have to think about that."

"When I was a kid, even as we had laws that held us apart, there were things that we held

dear and that we all had in common.

And I think we have to — we always talk about E Pluribus Unum.

What's our Unum now?

We have the Pluribus.

What's the Unum?"

Justice Thomas concluded by declaring American history, tradition, and culture as "worth

defending"–even if many Americans no longer feel they are.

"I think it's a great country.

Some people have decided that the Constitution isn't worth defending, that history isn't

worth defending, that the culture and principles aren't worth defending.

And, certainly, if you are in my position, they have to be worth defending.

That's what keeps you going.

That's what energizes you."

BREAKING PRESIDENT TRUMP AND RUSSIAN PRESIDENT VLADIMIR PUTIN ISSUE MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT - Duration: 16:21.

BREAKING: PRESIDENT TRUMP AND RUSSIAN PRESIDENT VLADIMIR PUTIN ISSUE MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT

Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump, in a joint statement

on Syria, agreed to continue joint efforts on fighting Islamic State until it is defeated,

the Kremlin said on Saturday.

According to Fox News, they issued the statement after a brief meeting at the Asia Pacific

Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit.

Via Christian News Alert:

In the statement, the two leaders stated that there is no military solution to the conflict.

Both parties also stated that they were committed to Damascus' sovereignty.

Originally, it was expected that the two leaders would speak on Friday, however, they had their

conversation on Saturday as they walked to a "family photograph" at the conference.

It was the first time Putin and Trump had met since the G20 conference earlier this

year.

The relationship between the United States and Russia has been strained since Congress

passed a law imposing more aggressive sanctions against the Kremlin for their meddling in

the 2016 election.

President Trump reluctantly signed the bill into law.

In response, Russia expelled half of the United States' diplomatic staff from the US embassy

in Moscow.

In the days leading up to the meeting, there was speculation about the subjects the two

leaders would discuss.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson told reporters in China that there wasn't a reason to have

a formal meeting between Trump and Putin if they could not take more steps towards resolving

issues like Syria and the Ukraine.

"The view has been if the two leaders are going to meet, is there something sufficiently

substantive to talk about that would warrant a formal meeting," Tillerson said.

On Thursday, it was reported that the United States and Russia were close to finalizing

an agreement regarding the Syrian civil war after ISIS is defeated.

The agreement in discussion contains three components, confliction between U.S. and Russian

military, decreasing violence in the region, and restarting peace talks led by the United

Nations.

According to The New York Times, Syria was not the only topic at hand during the conversation.

President Trump again asked Putin whether or not the Kremlin attempted to meddle in

the 2016 election.

This has been a serious point of contention ever since Trump won the presidency.

President Trump told reporters that Putin denied the allegations.

"He said he didn't meddle — I asked him again," Trump said.

"You can only ask so many times.

I just asked him again.

He said he absolutely did not meddle in our election.

He did not do what they are saying he did."

The president did not directly state whether or not he believes Putin's claims.

However, he did state that the issue is harming relations between the United States and the

Kremlin.

"Every time he sees me he says, 'I didn't do that,' and I really believe that when

he tells me that, he means it," he said.

"I think he is very insulted by it, which is not a good thing for our country."

It appears that Trump wishes to put the 2016 election interference behind him.

To people on the left, it might appear that Trump's desire to move past the issue is

because he was colluding with the Russian government to swing the results of the election.

Since nobody has been able to find evidence proving that the Trump campaign worked with

the Kremlin, it's more likely that Trump wants to have a more productive relationship

with Russia — especially when it comes to Syria and the North Korea issue.

(Source: www.christiannewsalert.com)

It was reported on Thursday that Washington and Moscow were nearing an agreement on Syria

for how they hope to resolve the Arab country's civil war once ISIS is defeated.

The U.S.-Russian agreement that was being discussed focused on three elements, officials

told The Associated Press: "deconfliction" between the U.S. and Russian militaries, reducing

violence in the civil war and reinvigorating U.N.-led peace talks.

The officials weren't authorized to discuss the deliberations and requested anonymity.

Mr. Putin said that Mr. Trump behaved at meetings "with the highest level of good will and

correctness," adding, "He is a cultured person, and comfortable discussing matters

related

to work."

RAND PAUL ANNOUNCES PLAN FOR OBAMACARE AND DEMS HATE IT - Duration: 11:35.

RAND PAUL ANNOUNCES PLAN FOR OBAMACARE AND DEMS HATE IT

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said Tuesday that he will propose amending the Senate GOP tax bill

to repeal ObamaCare's individual mandate and create a property-tax deduction similar

to that in the House bill.

"Today I am announcing my intention to amend the Senate tax bill to repeal the individual

mandate and provide bigger tax cuts for middle income taxpayers," the Kentucky Republican

announced Tuesday on his social media accounts, according to Western Journal.

"The mandate repeal is a promise we all made and we should keep.

I?t also allows an additional $300 billion+ in tax cuts," he added.

Paul noted that repealing the mandate will help those taxpayers who would otherwise face

an overall increase in their combined state, local and federal taxes due to the proposal

to end the federal deduction for state and local taxes.

"My amendment will fix a problem in the Senate bill where many taxpayers would see

a tax increase because of the loss of state and local deductions," he said.

"I will introduce a similar deduction as the House plan, making the tax reform plan

more fair for everyone.

This will also help ensure House acceptance of the Senate plan, as leaders there have

stated they will not accept a plan with no state and local deductibility."

The House bill, as currently amended, would allow a deduction for up to $10,000 in property

taxes, according to The Hill.

Corporations and agribusinesses pay substantial amounts in local property taxes to fund schools

and local governments.

"Repeal the mandate, fix problems with Senate bill through more tax cuts for all, and help

ensure House and Senate plans more full agree.

That will be my amendment," Paul wrote.

Paul was not the only one in Washington with the Obamacare mandate on his mind.

In a Monday tweet, President Donald Trump cited it as an issue to consider in the stretch

run of adopting tax reform.

"I am proud of the Rep. House & Senate for working so hard on cutting taxes {& reform.}

We're getting close!

Now, how about ending the unfair & highly unpopular Indiv Mandate in OCare & reducing

taxes even further?

Cut top rate to 35% w/all of the rest going to middle income cuts?"

Trump tweeted.

The Congressional Budget Office has estimated the federal government would save $338 billion

over 10 years by eliminating the mandate.

However, it also estimated 13 million more Americans would be uninsured in 2027, as reported

by Breitbart.

The House is expected to vote Thursday on its version of tax reform.

(Source: www.westernjournal.com)

Paul isn't the only GOP senator who has expressed concerns with the Senate's plan

to eliminate the full state and local tax deduction.

Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) told reporters Monday that she wants the Senate to keep the

top individual rate at 39.6 percent instead of lowering it to 38.5 percent in order to

help pay

for

a property-tax deduction.

JUST IN SPECIAL COUNSEL MUELLER ISSUES SUBPOENA – HERE'S WHO'S THE TARGET OF IT - Duration: 12:36.

JUST IN: SPECIAL COUNSEL MUELLER ISSUES SUBPOENA – HERE'S WHO'S THE TARGET OF IT

Special Counsel Robert Mueller was appointed earlier this year in order to investigate

any possible collusion between President Trump's campaign and the Russian government.

Now, it seems like they make the first serious move in a long time.

Via Mix Politics:

NBC News reported that a source close to the investigation revealed that Mueller's team

has issued a subpoena to the Trump campaign asking multiple campaign officials to produce

Russia-related documents.

The subpoenas reportedly do not compel testimony by any of the officials.

The source went on to say that the campaign has already turned over some 20,000 documents

voluntarily, so it's not clear why the subpoena was issued.

Reports indicate that Trump's campaign was caught by surprise by the subpoenas.

"Sending a subpoena to an entity that says it has been cooperating with document requests

isn't unusual in cases in which prosecutors have some concern that their demands aren't

being met promptly or aren't being entirely fulfilled," the Wall Street Journal reported.

This came hours after the top Republican and Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee

said that White House Senior Adviser Jared Kushner, President Trump's son-in-law, hasn't

been fully forthcoming with the panel's probe into Russian election interference,

asking him to provide emails sent to him involving WikiLeaks and a "Russian backdoor overture

and dinner invite."

Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif.,

sent a letter to Abbe Lowell, Kushner's lawyer, saying that the documents he has given

the committee are "incomplete."

Lowell replied by saying that Kushner has been "responsive to all requests."

"We provided the Judiciary Committee with all relevant documents that had to do with

Mr. Kushner's calls, contacts or meetings with Russians during the campaign and transition,

which was the request," Lowell said.

"We also informed the committee we will be open to responding to any additional requests

and that we will continue to work with White House Counsel for any responsive documents

from after the inauguration."

In their letter, Grassley and Feinstein said that they had previously asked him to provide

documents to, from, or copied to him "relating to" certain individuals of interest to investigators,

but Kushner responded that no emails had been found in which those individuals were sent

emails, received emails, or were copied on them.

"If, as you suggest, Mr. Kushner was unaware of, for example, any attempts at Russian interference

in the 2016 presidential election, then presumably there would be few communications concerning

many of the persons identified in our second request, and the corresponding burden of searching

would be small," the senators wrote.

The subpoena marks the first time Trump's campaign has been ordered to turn over information

to Mueller's investigation.

Mueller has previously subpoenaed former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and several

of his associates, as well as subpoenaing several banks to obtain Manafort's financial

records.

In late October, Manafort was charged with multiple counts, including conspiracy against

the United States and money laundering related to his work for a pro-Russia political party

in Ukraine.

His former business associate, Richard Gates, was also indicted.

BREAKING HIGH RANKING DEMOCRAT CAUGHT IN MAJOR SCANDAL – HE SHOULD RESIGN - Duration: 16:21.

BREAKING: HIGH-RANKING DEMOCRAT CAUGHT IN MAJOR SCANDAL – HE SHOULD RESIGN

Finally an obvious slip-up that can cause real problem for Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

He's had a nice and smooth run under the past administration, being able to get away

with anything.

Well, not anymore.

According to Christian News Alerts:

A recent report suggested that the mayor inflated the graduation rates of Chicago's colleges.

According to the report, the City Colleges of Chicago awarded thousands of degrees even

though enrollment in the community college system had decreased at a drastic rate.

Mayor Emanuel has often stated that one of his biggest accomplishments was that he reinvented

the City Colleges of Chicago.

The mayor claimed that the graduation rates and a number of degrees awarded have skyrocketed

since he took office.

Specifically, Emanuel has claimed that the graduation rate has increased from 7 percent

to 17 percent as a result of his policies.

However, all is not as it seems.

According to the Better Government Association (BGA), a nonpartisan watchdog group, Emanuel's

boasts are not based in reality.

In their report, they write,

"City Colleges has watered down its curriculum, violated its own rules on what constitutes

a degree, changed the way it counts statistics and bestowed thousands of degrees — sometimes

in multiples to the same person — to current and former students who in many cases neither

requested nor wanted them, the investigation found."

The BGA conducted an investigation that lasted for months.

They found that the mayor attempted to create the "appearance of success at a college

system where enrollment this year hit a 25-year low."

Student enrollment was down 35 percent since Emanuel took office in 2011.

Interestingly, the colleges report that the number of degrees awarded has increased, even

though overall enrollment has decreased.

The BGA's report states that the college system awarded 5,010 degrees, which is more

than double the annual amount before Emanuel became mayor.

What concerned BGA was the fact that many graduates who they interviewed stated that

they were given degrees that they didn't know they had earned.

These were degrees the students did not need.

In one case, a 73-year-old alumni was retroactively awarded an Associate in General Studies degree

in 2015.

The degree was awarded based mostly on classes she took in the 1990s.

"I got an Associate of Arts Degree there in 1994, with honors, but nothing since,"

she stated.

"It makes me sad that they would do such a thing, but this degree means nothing to

me."

In another instance, a former student was unaware of being awarded a degree.

She earned an Associate of Arts degree in 2014, but college records reveal that she

was also awarded an Associate in General Studies in 2015.

The former student claims she never received the degree.

"I never got that degree.

All I got was an AA…nobody ever called me," she said.

"Nobody ever said anything to me.

All I have is an AA framed on my wall, I swear."

According to faculty council President Jennifer Alexander, "They have manipulated data to

score political points on the backs of our students."

The results of this study further demonstrate the utter corruption that is rampant in Chicago's

government.

Unfortunately, it is unlikely that Emanuel will suffer any consequences for deliberately

working the college system to further his political agenda.

However, the more this level of malfeasance is exposed, the less likely it is that people

will be taken in by politicians like Emanuel.

City Colleges' administration has not disputed the fact that it lowered its standards, but

argues that the changes were signed off on by state regulators.

No word yet on why they were giving out unsolicited degrees like candy.
