We are an American family of 7 living, working and loving Brazil.
Welcome to the adventures of our Brazilian life.
There's no gas in Brazil! There's
absolutely no gasoline in this entire country. This is the craziest thing I've
ever seen. It's absolutely wild. We are here at an empty gas station. Completely
empty at a Petrobras gas station. No gas available. So here's what's happening
here in Salvador Bahia. The truck drivers union in Brazil have
all stopped driving. They have parked their trucks on the side of the road and
refused to move until a deal is made with the government and Petrobras. They
are protesting the rapidly increasing high price of gas and taxes on fuel . This
has created a huge trickle-down effect. Every single citizen of Brazil is
affected by this including us. Because there is no gas, the public bus system
has been significantly interrupted which means school and church were cancelled.
There is very limited food in the grocery stores. Right now there is no
fresh fruit, vegetables or meat. Our family moved here to open a trampoline
park. Our trampolines have finally arrived at the port but we can't start
our business because there is no gas and no truck drivers to transport them to
our store. But we are not alone. Many other factories have stopped production
and airlines are canceling flights. Everyone in this country is affected.
This is a national demonstration that is making history.
What is happening? All out of fuel. Strike. Truck drivers strike? Exactly.
The trucks from the fuel depot are held captive. Here, we've run out. Over there, the other station only has ethanol.
Here, everything is gone. Everything. You don't have anything? Nothing.
When will the strike end? No end in sight. No clue? No.
Is this happening in the whole country? The entire country.
This will stop the whole country. It's already stopped, practically. Other stations are running out. Whoever has stock is running out.
and then waiting. Authorization of more fuel from the depot. Alright. Thank you. It was nothing.
This is a powerful opportunity for change. What do you plan to do to make a
difference right now? When will this end? There is so much good or bad that can
come out of the situation but the choice is yours. Please share your thoughts
below. This is a time to show the world what Brazil is really made of.
This is normally a very busy highway and you can see that it's pretty much empty.
Brazilians, my friends. Do you see how much power you have to make a difference?
When you work together, look at the impact you're having on this country.
I'm so proud of you. I'd love to see you uniting and working together for a great
cause. We support you. we completely believe in you. We know this is hard
for everybody including us. But change is never easy. Brazil has the largest oil
reserves here in South America and prices have gone up exorbitantly. I think
it's 50% in a very short period of time. How can any of the truck drivers
make any money when prices go up five times in one week? It's impossible. The
taxes are are crippling to all the truck drivers and really anybody here in this
country who's trying to make a living. The truck drivers have refused to
deliver anything including gasoline to the gas stations which has a
trickle-down effect. They have done it in a very peaceful way. It's interesting
to see how effective this strike has been. They've essentially shut down the
entire country without any violence.
Thanks for watching our video. Staying connected would mean the world to us.
We love making new friends. Please drop by and say hi on Instagram and thank you.
