USA news on Youtube May 25 2018

Hi there, it's Ernest from Trip Astute. In this video, we're doing something a

little bit different. We're going to cover the quirky and important aspects of US

life that visitors should know when visiting the States.

(light chiming music)

A few months ago, we

did a video on what I noticed when I traveled to England. It was meant to be a

fun and lighthearted video. Oddly enough though,

the video got a lot of attention and as of today, has over 400,000 views. The

video seems to be trending in the UK so we had a lot of folks chime in on their

thoughts. A lot of people shared their experience in the US and some of the

confusing aspects of our life and culture. So today, I wanted to cover some

of the biggest and most significant differences, especially those that could

really affect your experience while here. While many of you in the US might not

think that any of these things are unique, I still think it's useful to be

mindful of them especially when you have family and friends visiting from abroad.

And for those of you who are watching from outside of the US, particularly our

new subscribers from the UK, I hope this list is not only entertaining but also

useful. I really tried to focus on differences and tips that might save you

time and keep you safe while visiting the States. Lastly, before I run through

the list, keep in mind that I'm intentionally ignoring politics and guns.

While these are very stark and unique aspects of US culture, I'm really trying

to avoid political debates on this channel. So before you comment on our

President or guns, just know I totally get it, but this is not where I want to

have that discussion. So, with that out of the way, let's go through the list. Number 1:

Paying for gas. If you're visiting the US, you'll notice that most gas stations

will require you to pay for fuel in advance before you start pumping. Most

Americans will simply swipe their credit card which then puts a hold on their

account until they're done fueling. This can be a big problem for international

visitors as the pumps are often not able to process a hold or verify their credit

card, especially since the US is a bit behind on

their payment technology. If you're faced with having to pay for gas, or petrol as

the rest the world knows it, you probably need to pay the attendant cash. For most

cars, you can expect to pay around $25 to $30 for a full tank.

If you end up filling up less, then just asks for change from the attendant once

you're done pumping. As a bonus tip, keep in mind that in the US the black pump is

usually designated as regular unleaded fuel. Green pumps are usually diesel,

which is not as common in the US as it is in the rest of the world. Number 2:

Stay in your car when being pulled over by the police. This one is extremely

important to know if you're visiting the US. If you're driving and you get pulled

over by the police, you'll want to remain in your car and keep your hands on the

steering wheel. You do not want to get out of your vehicle. While that may be the

normal process outside the US, doing so will likely result in the police feeling

threatened and potentially drawing their weapons. The normal procedure

in the US is to pull over to the side of the road and turn off your engine.

You'll want to roll down your driver-side window and keep your hands on your

steering wheel. The police will usually ask for your driver's license and

vehicle registration. Though I wouldn't start looking for it until the police

asks for it. I don't mean to scare people as this is such a common scenario in the

US, but it's an easy way to startle the police especially if you exit the car

and walk toward the officer. Number 3: Turning right on the red light. This is

one that seems to disturb a lot of people when they visit the US, even

though I think most Americans find it to be very convenient and useful. If you're

in an intersection and you want to turn right, you can do so on the red light if

there is: no pedestrian crossing at the time, no cars coming toward your

direction, and no signs saying that the right turn is prohibited on the red

light. If you find yourself in this situation, you'll want to stop at the

intersection first and allow any pedestrians to pass, then you can slowly

move forward into the crosswalk and turn right when it's clear and safe. Just be

careful of folks who ignore the crosswalk signal and try to cross the street at

the last second. On that note, number 4: Avoid

jaywalking. The US has laws against jaywalking, which

is basically disregarding the law and crossing the street outside of the

crosswalk or when the crossing signal is red. This is only enforced on busy roads.

It's meant to keep people from crossing streets where they can get hit by cars

and cause disruptions to the flow of traffic. I know it's very annoying, even

for Americans, but it's something to be aware of when you want to cross the

street. Also, police officers will often just wait around busy streets to catch

people jaywalking, so be careful when you're walking around high-traffic areas.

Number 5: Tipping. The tipping culture in the US is very excessive and is

confusing even to us Americans. While it's customary to tip servers 15% to 20%

at restaurants and bars, it's often unclear in other scenarios like

valet parking, hotels, and cafes. For example, Fiona recently told me that she

struggled with determining the amount to tip when visiting a hair salon. In these

cases, we usually default to 15% to 20%, but only if you were happy with

the service. Also, keep in mind that servers at restaurants and bars

typically make less than minimum wage in the US. That means that the tip is a

major component of their wages. While I personally think they should get paid

more, just know that we often see tipping in restaurants to be mandatory unless

the service was not up to standards. Number 6: Stop signs. A lot of visitors

have complained that they often don't know how to deal with multiple cars

arriving at a stop sign at once. The official rule is that the person to the

right has the right of way, though it can be messy when it's not clear who is to

the right. My suggestion is to be defensive and move slowly through the

stop sign. It's not worth fighting over the right-of-way, especially when we're

talking about a few seconds of time. Number 7: Sales tax.

One thing that a lot of visitors find confusing is our sales tax. When buying

an item at a store, you're almost always going to pay more than the label price.

Since sales tax is different in every state and county, we add it to the price

at the register. It's something that we're used to as Americans, but I can

understand how it's confusing to others. Just know that you'll likely have to pay

up to ten percent more than the sticker price depending on where you're visiting.

And finally, number 8: Showing your ID. This one drives Americans insane too. In

most restaurants and bars, you'll need to show your ID even if you're obviously

over the drinking age of 21. It's mostly a liability issue in that most

restaurants and bars don't want to be sued or found accountable for serving

alcohol to minors, or even perceived as singling out people based on age. This

can lead to some very annoying and frustrating situations. I've even seen

elderly people being asked to show their ID, which is just ridiculous. So, if you're

planning to have a drink in the US, make sure you're carrying some form of ID

that shows your birthday. Even if you're obviously over the age of 21, it's

possible that you'll need to prove it in order to have a drink or to even enter a

bar. There are a ton of smaller things that are on my list and I'll cover them

in another video. But these are the ones that I think can really affect someone's

experience or cause confusion when visiting the US, so I wanted to focus on

them. For those of you in the US, do you have any other tips for visitors? Or if

you visited the US from abroad, are there any other items that you think

should be included in the list? Let us know in the comments section below. We

hope you enjoyed this video and found it useful. If so, please consider giving us a

thumbs up and sharing our video with others that might also benefit or enjoy

our content. We're trying to get to 5,000 subscribers by the end of June, and we

would appreciate your help getting there. More importantly, we love hearing from

folks that our videos are helpful, so if you know of anyone that might benefit

from our content, we would love to see it shared with others.

Until next time, travel safe and travel smart.

Grassley Holds DAMNING Evidence That Could Link Obama Directly to #Spygate Scandal - Duration: 3:06.

Grassley Holds DAMNING Evidence That Could Link Obama

Directly to #Spygate Scandal.

Senator Chuck Grassley is getting closer to linking the #Spygate scandal directly to Obama's

Oval Office.

Grassley is continuing to put the squeeze on the DOJ to hand over unredacted evidence

and cited the Strzok text which read "White House is running this" as means for the

DOJ to release ALL the evidence.

From Fox News

A top Senate Republican is challenging the Justice Department over extensive redactions

made in files showing text messages between anti-Trump FBI officials Peter Strzok and

Lisa Page.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, drew particular attention

to one text that suggested the Obama "White House is running this," in reference to

an unspecified investigation.

But, like in so many of the files, a name was redacted and the context was unclear,

though one report suggests that was related to the Russia probe.

In a letter sent Wednesday to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, Grassley called for

all redactions to be removed.

"The manner in which some redactions have been used casts doubt on whether the remaining

redactions are necessary and defensible," Grassley wrote.

He sent the letter following two sessions for committee staff to view less-redacted

versions of the texts between Strzok and now-former FBI official Page.

Both officials previously worked on Robert Mueller's Russia probe and ran into trouble

when their anti-Trump messages were revealed.

In his letter, Grassley said that, "When viewing the still redacted portions in context

with the unredacted material, it appeared that the redacted portions may contain relevant

information relating to the Committee's ongoing investigation into the matter in which

the Department of Justice and FBI handled the Clinton and Russia investigations."

As two examples of texts with unexplained redactions, he mentioned a text that had redacted

the price of former deputy director Andrew McCabe's "$70,000 conference table"

as well as the "text about the Obama White House 'running' an investigation, although

it is unclear to which investigation they were referring."

Grassley added: "I am unaware of any legitimate basis on which the cost of a conference table

should be redacted.

Embarrassment is not a good enough reason."

Fox News has viewed the less-redacted text message Grassley referred to regarding the

White House's supposed involvement in an investigation.

"Went well, best we could have expected.

Other than [REDACTED] quote, 'the White House is running this.'," Strzok wrote

to Page on Aug. 5, 2016.

"My answer, 'well, maybe for you they are.'"

Page replied: "Yeah, whatever (re WH comment).

We've got emails that say otherwise."

Trump And Kushner Score Major Victory—And It's All For America's Safety - Duration: 12:23.

Trump And Kushner Score Major Victory—And It's All For America's Safety

One of Donald Trump's messages during the campaign was "Make America Safe Again."

He vowed to be the law and order President—unlike his predecessor.

Now a new bill passed by the House will go a long way in achieving his goals.

Enforcing our laws and bringing criminals to justice is vital in keeping our society

safe.

But, all too often, the prison system fails in a big way.

Criminals serve their time in prison, only to come out and break the law again.

A system originally designed to reform criminals makes them worse.

What can be done to end that cycle?

Is there something our leaders can do to both help convicts change their lives and keep

our streets safe?

Trump aid and son-in-law Jared Kushner thought so.

He championed for reform that will help criminals turn their lives around.

Kushner worked with our lawmakers to craft a bill that would transform how our system

treats convicts.

And the House overwhelmingly supported it.

From New York Post:

The House by an overwhelming 360-59 vote passed a bipartisan reform bill Tuesday that provides

more education for federal prisoners and gives them a second chance after their release.

The bill would also boost current inmates' chances for a GED, vocational and college

courses as well as substance abuse and mental health help, Jeffries told lawmakers on the

House floor.

The legislation is a priority for the White House, thanks to the advocacy of Jared Kushner,

who saw how his father, Charles, was treated in federal prison.

The president's son-in-law worked closely with the bill's authors and helped host

a prison reform summit at the White House last week with President Trump.

"America is a nation that believes in the power of redemption," Trump said Friday.

"America is a nation that believes in second chances, and third chances, in some cases.

And, I don't know, I guess even fourth chances."

That vote is significant.

The vast majority of our leaders in the House voted for this bill.

Both liberals and conservatives.

That tells you how effective Kushner can be to bring people together.

After all, Trump doesn't surround himself with chumps.

But why would this bill be a win for American citizens?

The goal is to reform criminals.

What good is it to send people to jail, only for them to return to crime afterwards?

This bill will go the extra mile in ensuring those criminals who want to change their lives

have the opportunity to do so.

That will result in more Americans empowered to live in peace and safety.

More Americans working hard to gain a better life.

And fewer Americans reliant on the government, one way or another.

The bill must go to the Senate, where it's fate is currently in question.

I can't imagine any senators opposing it.

We'll have to wait

and see.

Democrats Refuse to Say This One Word, So Trump Goes Trolling on Twitter - Duration: 4:32.

Democrats Refuse to Say This One Word, So Trump Goes Trolling on Twitter.

As news breaks over Barack Obama's FBI during the 2016 election, the Democrats are reeling.

Trying to deny the facts, they refuse to use to say this one word.

However, President Donald Trump took to Twitter to roast their dishonest little shorts.

It has been an interesting week.

We are discovering just what Obama's administration was doing to undermine our democracy.

News has come out that his DOJ and FBI were abusing their power to attack the Trump campaign.

The DOJ acquired a FISA, based on shoddy information.

This is a clear violation of Trump and his team's rights.

But it only gets worse from there.

We now know that the FBI used an informant to monitor the Trump campaign.

This figure was paid by the bureau to infiltrate Trump's team.

The FBI's hope?

That they'd find dirt on Trump that would derail his chances.

The politicized FBI tried to steal our election for Hillary Clinton.

Let that sink in.

Despite this bombshell news, liberals pretend nothing happened.

They claim it was business as usual.

Of course!

Because the FBI is perfectly within its rights to violate an American's Constitutional

freedoms.

It was over a fake dossier to boot!

This massive scandal is bigger than Watergate.

Already, Trump's DOJ is opening up numerous investigations.

Heads are sure to roll very soon.

Yet still, the cronies in the liberal media refuse to use the one word that perfectly

sums up what the FBI was doing, and Trump knows it.

So, he took to Twitter this morning to really dig it into them.

In a series of early morning tweets on Friday, President Trump mocked the Democrats for refusing

to use the term "spy" in reference to the informant who was allegedly paid hundreds

of thousands by the federal government in part to try to "ensnare" the Trump campaign.

Trump also worked in an MS-13 reference for good measure.

Trump then tweeted a quote from Federalist Senior Editor Mollie Hemingway: "Everyone

knows there was a Spy, and in fact the people who were involved in the Spying are admitting

that there was a Spy…Widespread Spying involving multiple people."

But the corrupt Mainstream Media hates this monster story!" Trump added.

The president then pivoted to slamming the Democrats for "rooting against" the U.S.

in the negotiations with North Korea and connected it to their response to his condemnation of

the brutal MS-13 gang as "animals."

[Source: Daily Wire] It's really quite staggering to think of

what the Democrats tried to do.

They abused their power to prevent Trump from winning the election.

And they would have gotten away with it, had there been even a shred of truth to their

Russian claims.

Only because Trump is an honest man, with zero ties to Russia, did the Democrats fail.

Obama's FBI did everything in their power to stop Trump from winning.

They used every dirty trick the left could come up with.

And now, as the bones are spilling out of the closet, their goons in the media try to

cover it up.

They can't admit the FBI "spied" on Trump.

That would be admitting to a serious crime.

Our law enforcement cannot monitor American citizens without cause.

They need to acquire warrants from judges, only after proving there are crimes being

committed.

But where were the crimes within the Trump campaign?

There were none.

James Comey's FBI used a false dossier to spy on Trump's campaign.

It was a deliberate attempt at robbing us of our democracy.

But the left's stubborn dishonesty is not getting Trump down.

He thrives on this.

The more pathetic the left becomes, the more he can hold it over their head.

As we discover more about the Democratic Party's corruption, Trump is having a field day mocking

them.

The damn has broken.

The truth is finally coming out.

The left is in full panic mode.

They will do anything to stop this tidal wave.

But it's way too late for that.

what do you think about this?

Corrupt Bernie Sanders Found GUILTY- Hillary Is Next! - Duration: 4:47.

Corrupt Bernie Sanders Found GUILTY- Hillary Is Next!

Bernie Sanders has received some very bad news after what the Federal Election Commission

has discovered.

It may have taken some time to determine the ruling or unearth the evidence, but they found

it and it's going to cost Bernie Sanders quite a few dollars since he was found guilty.

The FEC has fined 2016 Presidential Candidate Bernie Sanders $14,000, for illegally accepting

in-kind contributions from a foreign entity.

This particular ruling stems from a February 2016 conservative activist group Project Veritas

video, where it should Australian nationals forking for the Sanders campaign while at

the same time being paid, by the Australian taxpayer funded ALP.

Shortly after the release of this video Republican, and former New Hampshire House speaker William

O'Brien filed a complaint with the FEC.

This complaint alleged that the ALP had made "prohibited foreign contributions" to

the Sanders 2016 presidential campaign.

The fines were levied in February 2016.

According to the FEC, the Austrailian Volunteers engaged in political activities included encouraging

voter attendance at campaign events, canvassing, planning events and recruitment of volunteers.

"The Sanders campaign "treated the ALP delegates no differently from any other campaign

out-of-town volunteers, and was aware that they were receiving a stipend from the ALP,"

the FEC added."

Here is more on this via Western Journal:

"While volunteering with the Sanders campaign, the Australians engaged in political activities

"including encouraging voter attendance at campaign events, recruiting volunteers,

canvassing with volunteers, and planning events," according to the FEC.

The Sanders campaign "treated the ALP delegates no differently from any other campaign out-of-town

volunteers and was aware that they were receiving a stipend from the ALP," the FEC added.

The ALP spent $16,140 for the Australians' flights to the United States and $8,282 for

their daily stipends.

The FEC determined that amounted to a $24,422 "prohibited in-kind foreign contribution"

the Sanders campaign accepted from the ALP.

A Sanders spokesperson said in a statement to WMUR that the campaign doesn't think

it broke any rules.

"During the course of the campaign, thousands and thousands of young people from every state

and many other countries volunteered.

Among them were seven Australian young people who were receiving a modest stipend and airfare

from the Australian Labor Party so they could learn about American politics," the spokesperson

said.

"The folks on the campaign managing volunteers did not believe the stipend disqualified them

from being volunteers."

"In order to avoid a long and expensive fight with the FEC over the technical status

of these young people, the campaign agreed to pay the FEC a small settlement but did

not agree that it broke any rules," the Sanders spokesperson added.

O'Brien told WMUR Tuesday he was "disappointed" the FEC did not make a connection between

ALP and the Australian government.

"I'm disappointed that it's not comprehensive," O'Brien said of the FEC's ruling.

"It doesn't go into the Australian government funding.

And I'm disappointed that it doesn't go with greater specificity into the actual things

that they were doing.

I'm disappointed that they didn't go to what was the effect on the campaign."

"It's basically the Australian government using the conduit of a socialist party to

assist the socialist candidate in the United States," O'Brien said.

The FEC's ruling against the Sanders campaign follows the Feb. 16 indictment of 13 Russian

nationals who interfered in the 2016 election in support of Sanders and then-candidate Donald

Trump.

Sanders denied his campaign received support from Russians during an interview last week

with Vermont Public Radio.

"They were supporting my campaign, no.

They were attacking Hillary Clinton's campaign and using my supporters against Hillary Clinton,"

Sanders said."

This information about Bernie Sanders might give those who are investigating others for

similar illegal activities.

Some believe Hillary Clinton might be targeted next for her possible involvement in an assortment

of incidents that people might be looking into.

Will the FEC find Hillary Clinton guilty of anything similar to what Bernie Sanders was

caught doing?

Will an organization be strong enough to hold Hillary accountable for anything she might

be involved in?

What do you think about this?
