Alright, today we are looking at the MXR GT-OD
Pretty sweet
Great overdrive
This is my clean tone on my telecaster pickup as usual
Alright, so
As usual we're gonna start things at 12 o'clock
This is just a setting I had for the last video I did
Clean channel like I said 50 watts the
Attenuator turned down as usual cuzzz
This thing cranks
Annnd let's do it
Alright, well I don't think the charm is...
When we're at 12 o'clock
I think the charm is when you turn the gain up, the output down, and the tone up
So, top is tone
Gain is on the right here
And output's on the left
Gonna turn the tone a little bit up
Gives it a little more of that 'tininess' but uh,
When you interact with the gain... turn that volume down a little...
Right?
Pretty nice sustain on there with that gain up...
Let's turn that tone all the way down...
Yeah, super busty so,
Tone at 2 o'clock, gain there, output there...
Wooooh!
Almost reminds me of some of those De-Loused...
Oh god what is it um...
Take The Veil or something...
Something like that, um , yeah,
That's really cool, um...
So, let's put the output back a little bit, keep the gain and the tone where they are
and I'm gonna flip it to the dirty channel on the amp
Woooooh!
Let's dime the gain all the way up
So the way I'm sort of understanding it is,
The gain works almost like it would on like a... Big Muff or something where it almost,
Sends it into like a self-oscillation thing...
Let's try messing with it on the dirty channel
Just, uhhhh...
The gain at like 3 o'clock,
And then we're gonna mess with the output and the tone
And then we'll bring the gain back, cool?
Let's do it
It's almost like a, little 'Marshall-y' or something...
Tone Up...
Output down a bit...
Everything dimed
Let's put this back on the clean channel for just oneeeee second...
Alright, so...
My assessment of the GT-OD is,
It's very much a driver,
It uh...
Brings things up to
That place where they get really 'sing-y'
When you run it into a distortion
Um, I could break a string on how much I wanna bend notes when it's going into my dirty channel...
Um, but other than that as just an overdrive you know,
It's pretty standard um...
It does what it's supposed to do
It really really really drives distortions
Um, as far as a gain-stacking pedal I think it's incredible... uh,
As far as an overdrive, to be honest it's...
It's decent
But, yeah if you're looking for something to really really really really boost that
Tube amp or
That distortion pedal
Orrrrr, you know to put something after a fuzz, to choke it out a little maybe...
