Welcome to Monterrey! I'm finally here.

It is sunny

though it's about 16 Celsius degrees and pretty cold wind

so good for me I wear a jumper. If I don't I'll freeze!

Currently I'm in the Fundidora Park where César left me.

Because he has to work a little bit I'm going for a walk

Supposedly there is an artificial river somewhere in here.

And I am curious how it looks like made by Mexicans.

My experience tells me that their constructions don't have the best quality.

Anyway, we will see.

A few things about Mexico

First impressions: people are really nice!

I was in trouble finding a bus.

I mean a bus stop.

And English here is not always perfect

Luckily I had an opportunity to polish my Spanish for a last few months.

So I'm getting better with it and I suppose in a few weeks time

my fluency will be back. I hope.

Anyway people are very nice and helpful.

And the weather is getting wonderful and amazing.

Me and my newly known friends entered the National History Museum.

There are beautiful exhibits like these.

I went for a walk with a fellow Robin who organised a meeting.

He's from Amsterdam.

And now he is organizing Pancake Night. Apparently for quite a few years.

I am lucky enough to be on this party.

Another day in Monterrey...

Another day in Monterrey.

How does it look in this country.

I have to admit, that girls are really pretty.

I'm walking down the street of Jose Maria Morelos

It's a pedestrian street.

With lot's of stores, restaurants and everything.

And as it is Sunday, there is a lot of people.

I don't know about the rest of the country.

But here, in Monterrey i've noticed while walking down the streets...

that on almost every corner is a kiosk selling things for a few pesos.

The exchange rate is more or less 17-18 pesos for 1$

Plan for tomorrow is to wake up in the morning.

And at 7am get to exit road from the city.

I am here already. So it's time...

to catch my first ride in Mexico.

There is no optimism...

So, I made it! I'm on my way.

Driver says it will take 8 hours. I hope no!

We were passing by another truck that is broken.

And we are trying to fix it.

So, it turned out that the guy doesn't have enough fuel.

Or something got inside the fuel tank.

And he is simply unable to start the engine.

There is some pressure pump to help with that.

But it doesn't help.

No one knows what's up. We will pump some fuel in.

I arrived in Zacatecas, or rather Guadalupe.

Because my host lives here.

And I was left on the highway about 1km that way.

We've spent on hour helping another driver, who forgot to refuel.

My driver only commented that he is an idiot.

And that's it!

Time to start another day. Piramides are waiting.

Food eaten, so I can go now.

And for this two tacos I payed 18 Pesos = 1$

I just did 54km. I just got out here on the bus stop.

Ticket for the transport by the name of Combi - minibus for 12 people.

Costs 35 pesos one way.

And now I have to walk 2.4km.

Walk.

Question.

Why I wanted to come here if this is such an unpopular place with not much inside?

First, because this were the closest ruins on my way

So, I wanted to visit something as soon as I can.

And second, it is a very unpopular place.

So..

It's always nice to get to know something new.

Teotihuacan and others... Tulum etc.

There is a lot of it on the internet.

You can read about, see it...

And about La Quemada there is not a lot.

That's why I'm providing you this information with pleasure.

And here - entrance.

It's an archaeological site

It has a pyramid, defense wall.

And this place is also known as...

Chicomóztoc

Not sure how to pronounce that.

And it was created between

200 - 1200 AD

It's 'Juego de pelota'

Meaning, football field.

It is 70m long.

The pyramid's name is Votive.

And it's the most preserved part of this archaeological site.

As you can see there are stairs at the bottom.

They were not there before.

The pyramid was covered with clay from all four sides.

And only from one side you could access it.

And on top was a clay altar.

That, unfortunately was destroyed by wind and rain.

There is no defense wall, that was behind the pyramid.

But I can see that there is a lake.

There is a third reason why I wanted to come here.

In here you can visit the place without restrictions.

You can get to everywhere, touch everything.

The only thing you can't do is take peaces.

Rocks, stones, etc...

From here you can see the whole site.

And there something that I don't know yet the name of.

But I will find out for you.

So the buildings name is Columns Hall.

And apparently it is the biggest building of Mesoamerica with a roof.

It is from 600-700 AD when it goes to construction time.
