Back to Back Champion Football Team 15-year Reunion - Duration: 3:55.

we're here not only for the homecoming but we're actually doing an alumni

event to celebrate those 03 and 04 championship teams as well so

it's really cool we were able to bring back a lot of people from those teams so

it's been a really good kind of starting event to get everyone back into

supporting not only the stuff that we accomplished but also the teams that are

coming up it's kind of surreal you know we're older some of us a little bit

heavier but it's really cool no one's changed everybody's still the same and

we kind of pick up right where we left off

I feel great baby I feel amazing it's wonderful event get the catch up with

all the old guys it's great it's great reliving memories

what's great seeing these guys these guys started a program and the foundation

and now look at what's going on we didn't have any of this when we were

playing but through their hard work and their values

look what what it became today the field that you guys playing on right now we

actually had to build the stadium seats that was one of our practices but I do

remember a lot of the games and the wins and and unfortunately some of the losses

but I just think about the times on the bus and the hotel you know in the locker

room before or after practice you know at pregame meals and just hanging out and

laughing and really getting to know you know what these guys were about the guys

that I was going to battle with every week got rings to remember by all the hard

work we put in and scrapes and people throwing up just enjoying life now one of my

biggest memories is just thinking back that last three a day and we thought we

was going to get out of up downs and Coach Barnes had us find somebody our size and we

had to wrestle 'em and whoever lost had to do up downs that day

what I really miss about it is just the camaraderie seeing all the players work

together seeing coming back now seeing all the upgrades that the school has and

what we didn't have where we had a muddy field to practice on and now they're the

amenities is a little bit better I think it was the Christopher Newport game I

think they had two different opportunities from the one-yard line and

defense stopped them both times you know as far as football goes you

don't get much much better than being able to say that you stopped someone at

the one-yard line and then ended up winning the game and the conference because we

won the conference

what words do you have today for some players who are on the team now keep

your players what would you want to tell them really the guys just need to go out

and you know just cherish every moment because you know you only have so many

guaranteed games and just play hard and understand just what this whole college

football thing is about it's about you know gaining those lifetime friends and

meeting those people that are going to be in your life forever

and never give up on your dream it always could come true I'm a person that

tore ACL thought my career was over came here to d3 where you're

not going to get the same competitiveness day in and day out but I

worked hard I didn't let people say you're in D-3, you're not gonna

make it I tried to prove people wrong and long as you keep trying and trying

and getting better at your to your position do your techniques you'll be

seen hey man we've come a long way take it in you know you don't have much

and I'll say time to just think about it just take advantage of the opportunity

that you got you may feel like you didn't get your opportunity but when it

comes you got to cherish it everybody's against you but just know that your band

of brothers always gonna be there for you we got guys here that it's been

years 15 years in the making and it feels like

you know we just never missed a beat

DTM-Fahrer Robert Wickens: Schwerer Unfall – jetzt ist der 29-Jährige querschnittsgelähmt

Er startete gerade erst in den USA groß durch, doch schon nach kürzester Zeit wurde der Traum des jungen Autosport-Piloten zerstört.

Jetzt kämpft er für ein Leben zurück auf den Beinen.

Autorennen sind sein Leben, doch sie haben ihm jetzt auch ein Stück Lebensqualität geraubt.

Der ehemalige DTM-Pilot Robert Wickens erlitt schwere Verletzungen bei einem Unfall im August.

Bei dem IndyCar-Rennen kollidierte er mit dem Fahrzeug seines Konkurrenten Ryan Hunter-Reay.

Der 29-Jährige erlitt mehrere Verletzungen: eine Fraktur der Brustwirbelsäule, eine Rückenmarksverletzung und eine Nackenfraktur.

Jetzt gibt er ein Update zu seinem Gesundheitszustand.

„Einige hat die Schwere meiner Verletzungen irritiert, deshalb wollte ich euch wissen lassen, wie die Realität aussieht", schreibt er auf Instagram.

Dazu postet er ein Video von sich bei der Reha.

Stück für Stück kämpft er sich zurück ins Leben. Aufgeben ist keine Option.

„Mein Oberkörper wird stärker und stärker. Ich habe nur Videos von kleinsten Bewegungen in meinen Beinen gepostet, aber die Wirklichkeit ist, dass ich weit davon entfernt bin, selbständig zu laufen".

Das Leben in Gottes Händen. Der gebürtige Kanadier wollte gerade erst in der IndyCar-Serie groß rauskommen, startete 2018 zum ersten Mal.

Das Rennen am 19. August entschied dann aber wohl über das Schicksal des jungen Mannes.
