If you need a safety plan,

think of a code word you and your children can use,

if needed.

"Look, Mummy has planned you a trip with teddy bears!"

(daughter shrieks in excitement)

Find the safest room in your home.

There must not be any dangerous objects or edged weapons in the room.

And the room must have an exit of any means.

Find out what your municipality can do for you, if you have fallen victim to someone.

Save important phone numbers, for example pseudonymously.

Tell your children what to do if they're in a threatening or unsafe situation.

Stay sober.

While intoxicated, it's hard to look after yourself or others.

Write down all threats and acts of violence.

Remember to include dates and times.

Save all messages and record phone calls, if possible.

They'll serve as important evidence if you decide to report.

Remember that you can get help immediately, and there's no shame in seeking help.

Nobody is responsible for violence committed against themself.
