2017 saw the shock WWE returns of Matt and Jeff Hardy at WrestleMania, Paige came back
after over a year out from injury and Kane popped out from under the ring and then got
put back through it.
But what can we expect in WWE's near future?
Here are 10 shocking rumored WWE returns and debuts for 2018 you need to know.
And, let's get this out the way now, none of them are CM Punk.
10.
Rey Mysterio Since leaving WWE in 2015, Rey Mysterio has
continued to wrestle around the world - most notably for AAA and Lucha Underground.
But his contract with the latter has reportedly expired, making Mysterio a free agent.
While he had talks with TNA over the Summer, WWE have also said to be interested in bringing
him back - but negotiations broke down when Vince McMahon apparently wouldn't deal with
Rey's agent Konnan.
Whatever happens, it'll probably be wise not to make him the surprise no.
30 Royal Rumble entrant again.
9.
Bobby Lashley After a WWE career which included wrestling
for future President of the United States Donald Trump's hair, Bobby Lashley left
WWE in 2008 to embark on a dual career of professional wrestling with TNA and mixed
martial arts through Strikeforce and Bellator.
With TNA supposedly "hemorrhaging funds", however, it's reported they're looking
to get rid of Lashley's big money contract when it expires in early 2018, where he's
then expected to go to WWE.
Just like his fellow TNA wrestler...
8.
ECIII ECIII went from strength to strength after
being released from NXT in 2013, debuting in TNA as Dixie Carter's spoiled nephew,
where he went on to become a two-time World Heavyweight Champion.
TNA will also reportedly let ECIII's relatively expensive contract expire early next year,
where he'd be a great signing for WWE.
Like yet another fellow TNA wrestler...
7.
James Storm Completing our trifecta of Impact wrestlers
to WWE, Storm is different in that his TNA contract has already expired - with the former
World Heavyweight Champion leaving the promotion in November.
The last time he left TNA, Storm had a several week run in NXT - and it's expected he'll
return there in 2018.
Hopefully to reunite Beer Money with Bobby Roode.
I can hope.
6.
Ronda Rousey Ronda Rousey is no stranger to WWE.
She's already beaten up Stephanie McMahon at WrestleMania, and she's been trash talking
Charlotte, Bayley, Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks all Summer.
And in 2018 she's reportedly set to sign with WWE, possibly making her in-ring debut
as early as the Women's Royal Rumble match in January.
5.
Ricochet Ricochet is one of the most exciting wrestlers
in the world, famed for his 2016 Best of the Super Juniors match against Will Ospreay going
viral - where both men told Gravity: hold our beers.
With his Lucha Underground contract now expired (where he wrestled as Prince Puma), Ricochet
will reportedly sign with WWE to debut on their NXT brand.
4.
Kenny Omega In this list's craziest conspiracy theory,
there are some who believe Chris Jericho having a match at New Japan's WrestleKingdom show
in January is actually part of an elaborate plot to lure Kenny Omega to WWE.
This follows numerous rumors at the start of 2017 that Omega was very close to joining
WWE, mostly led by John Cena trolling fans on Instagram.
While Omega's contract expires at the end of January, it's still expected he'll
resign with New Japan.
In fact, I would dismiss this crazy conspiracy theory completely, if not for the fact…
it sounds like exactly the sort of dastardly plan Vince McMahon would concoct.
3.
Hulk Hogan The most iconic wrestler in the history of
the sport became one of its most infamous when his leaked sex-tape exposed him making
racist comments - leading to WWE terminating their contract with Hogan and removing his
entry from the Hall of Fame page on WWE.com.
Over two and a half years later, WWE are reportedly considering bringing him back - but this all
depends on their sponsors' attitudes to Hogan's return.
2.
Daniel Bryan One of the biggest potential returns of 2018
- Daniel Bryan's in-ring one - could just as easily become WWE's biggest departure.
Bryan retired from wrestling in early 2016 after multiple concussions, but he's since
been medically cleared to return by various doctors.
There's only one physician whose opinion matters, though, and that's WWE's Dr.
Joseph Maroon.
If he clears Bryan to wrestle, it's very likely we'll see Daniel return to the ring
in WWE.
But if he doesn't, Bryan's made it publicly clear he'll leave WWE when his contract
expires in September 2018, and wrestle elsewhere.

Batista Batista has revealed he's been talking with
Vince McMahon about a return to WWE, but not just for a part-time deal - he wants one last
full run with the company, house shows and all.
But he has a condition: he wants to feud with Triple H.
If Vince and Hunter agree, Batista says "that's the thing that would get me back".
