Hi guys! Welcome back to the channel it's Claire and Rags and it is nearly

New Year's Eve which means there's going to be a lot of celebration but while

this is a really fun time of year for us we do need to remember that can be quite

stressful for our pets so Rags and I are going to be sharing with you some

tips on your cats protocols, parties and New Year's Eve and at the end of the

vlog we are going to be announcing the winner of the petcube competition so

stay tuned so if you're going away or going out for New Year's leaving in your

pet at home you need to remember that there may be things going around your

home that include things like fireworks and noises flushes bangs and that kind

of thing and your cat is gonna find this quite stressful and scary so make sure

that your cat is shut away in a room somewhere that is quiet somewhere that

is comfortable and warm and somewhere that has water at their food and their

litter box make sure that all the curtains are closed as to make things

like fireworks sound a little bit more dollar and make sure that they don't get

scared by any flashes or bangs or anything like that now if you're staying

home over the New Year's Eve having people over remember that your cat might not

like all the extra people in their house now Ragsy is quite social when it comes

to people that she knows so she will probably spend an hour or two

downstairs with everybody sort of going around and getting fussed for everybody

but she does have a limit as most cats do especially if your cat is a

particularly shy one make sure that that somewhere that your cat can retire to

very easily and it's away from all the commotion also let your guests know that

you do have a cat in the house and that you do have a safe little space either

upstairs or somewhere else in the house as long as they're aware that that's

where their cat goes when they want to be on their own then your guest should

know that they're not to bother it when it's in there. Now when it comes to

fireworks the most important thing to know is that your cat should be shutting

doors it is not safe for a cat to be outside when there's things like

fireworks going off now if you're away over New Year's Eve and there's going to

be fireworks around your home make sure that you have all curtains in your house

shut as to dull any noises from outside as before make sure that is somewhere

that your cat feels safe in so this could just be one room that's got

food water and nice comfy bed for your cat try putting on the radio to sort of

drown out any firework noises or some of my relax my cat tracks specifically for

fireworks they work wonders. Now if you are having fireworks at your own home

on New Year's Eve make sure first of all that your cat is indoors and if

you're going to be setting them off in your own backyard

make sure that the room that your cat is being shut away in is on the opposite

side of the house this is the kindest thing you can do as it will lessen the

noises and all the lights and everything that your cat can see and hear

now with regards to the food a drink especially if you're going to your way over New

Year's Eve overnight you have to make sure that your cat is catered for now I

understand that it's a very busy and exciting time of year but you do need to

remember that your cat is being looked after make sure if you're staying

overnight especially that they have enough food cats can be quite good at

being grazes so and leaving food out for them every day sometimes works

some are more prone to overeating than others. I will not name names but just for one night

should be okay so make sure that you either your cat has enough food left or

them out or you have someone popping by and maybe a relative or neighbor to give

them their meals and make sure that they have enough water now if you're having

people over for New Year's Eve you are probably going to be having a lot of party

food, party drinks and that kind of thing and a lot of these things are not

suitable for your cat things like certain fruits certain sweet things

fatty foods and especially alcohol - these things should not be you than any reach

of your cat so if you have a party food table make sure that it is somewhere

that your cat cannot get to and keep a sharp lookout for a cat trying to steal

some food off it - she's done that a couple of times. She particularly likes the pigs in blankets, don't you? You little sneak!

Just make sure that all your guests know not to feed the cat and not to get silly

with it if they have had a little bit to drink. Thanks guys, I hope that these tips

How To Calm Your Dog During NYE Fireworks and loud noises + Announcing the WINNER of PETCUBE! - Duration: 5:28.

hi everybody and welcome back to Relax My Dog! Today me and Milo are going to be

talking to you about what you can do if you have an anxious pet around new years

especially when you have fireworks going. Firstly I want to say I hope you

all had an amazing Christmas if you celebrate it and I hope you're all

getting ready for the New Year celebrations as well and to introduce

2018 with a bang as some of you guys may know me and Milo have been doing a

giveaway on this channel where we are going to be giving away a Petcube bites

Today we're going to be introducing the winner at the end of

this video so do stay tuned to find out if you are the lucky winner but for now

let's just get started with our top tips

Now the first thing to understand is that parties like for humans aren't for everyone especially for dogs

loud music shouts people having fun laughter anything like that can be

really really daunting for a dog who is very very anxious as this can actually

make your dog feel like they are under attack a little bit as there as that can make your

dog aware of everything around them and it can actually make them very very

scared and anxious and it's on these nights that dogs are more likely to run

away or to hide away from their owners. Okay so tip number one that you may want

to do is to confine your pet. Do they have a favorite hiding place? Do they

have a crate they can go in? Do they have a particular area or room in your

house that they like to feel comfortable in? Because if so, that is probably the

perfect place for you to place your dog this will then it create a lot bit of

safety for your dog, a little bit of security that they are going to be okay

and that all the noises that they are hearing are absolutely fine; However they

it's important to understand that if they haven't grown up with a crate or a

cage that it can actually be quite stressful for them and it can make them

even more stressful than if they were not in a crate because they feel like

they are too confide in that particular area now tip. Now tip number two is to use music

to distract your pet make sure this is calming music or not for music or rock

music or anything that because that if your dog doesn't like that and that won't be

the best thing for you to use also make sure you are using a volume that is just

to distract the dog, don't make it super super loud because then it can be even

more stressful for your dog to listen to another thing is if your dog likes

watching TV maybe set them up in another room and put the TV

and that might help them a little bit more as well. Now tip number three is

something that Mylo lat absolutely loves because we do this regularly if we are

going to listen to fireworks or anything like that and that is to give them quite

a lot of exercise whether that is going for walks or just playing out in the

garden or throwing a ball for him he absolutely loves that and it does really

really tire him out so make sure you are exercising your dog as much as possible

so when they get in the house they'll just go straight to sleep

and they are completely relaxed for the whole night and they don't have enough

energy to become stressful then. Now number four is another great one that

Mylo absolutely loves - and that is to just distract your pet from whatever's

going on this it can be by using food puzzles like the lot of stuff toys you

can get where your stuff treats in there and they could just be distracted for

hours on end or introducing some new toys that again it can keep your dog

distracted or anything else that you know will distract your dog Milo has

recently become absolutely addicted to socks so we could just give him some socks

and he will be gone for hours now number five is one that can be used obviously

as a last resort and that is by dropping your dog off with family or friends

obviously if a dog is super super anxious around laughter fireworks

anything around the New Year scene then it might be a good idea to drop them off

with friends or family just somewhere you know aren't

celebrating as much as you are at your house. Now if you are going away when you

are celebrating, if you are going to another friend's house we do have a previous
