I'm not a huge fan of Cold Steel knives
but the one I'm showing you today
is a very interesting one.
"Cold Steel"
"High Performance Knife"
and the knife's name is "Kudu".
It comes in a Cold Steel box, of course,
it says here few info about producer and about the knife,
the name of the knife "Kudu".
There is a picture that shows how the knife looks lile
and this is a deer, a young stag...
"Kudu" is a kind of stag or a deer or something like this.
Here is the knife.
This is how the folding knife looks like.
It says here, on the blade, "Cold Steel"
(on a side)
and on the reverse side it says "Kudu"
and there is also a drawing of a stag.
What is special with this knife?
The blade is made of s stainless steel
called 1.4116.
It's not the best stainless steel in the world,
it's actually a pretty entry level one.
Its hardness reaches up to 55 - 57 HRC.
The blade, as I was telling you,
it says the name of the knife, Kudu,
and there's also a drawing with a deer or a stag
and, on reverse side, it says the producer's name,
"Cold Steel"
and, below it, "China".
In other words, even if the manufacturer Cold Steel is from USA
this knife is made in China.
The opening mechanism is "Nail Nick".
You can see it here,
the nail nick mechanism.
You don't really have to use your nail
because the blade is quite wide
and you simply can grab it and pull it out.
The locking mechanism is an interesting one
that captured my attention.
I haven't seen one like this before.
It's about this ring connected to a clamp.
This stainless steel clamp on top of the handle
it locks the blade somewhere here.
To unlock it, I have to strongly pull the ring
and push the blade down.
I don't know if you can see it...
the clamp is a little bit high,
I fold the blade and when it's totally closed
the clamp goes down locking it.
It's the same when I open it.
The clamp stands a little bit up.
There is a hole in the clamp
and the blade has a kind of hook
that goes into that hole.
The blade is strongly locked right now, it doesn't move at all.
To unlock it, I have to pull up the ring
(see, I pull the ring)
to rise the clamp allowing me to fold the blade.
This clamp is very strong,
it pushes very hard the blade.
The blade is not rounded at the end,
that's why it gets locked on multiple positions.
This locking mechanism looked very interesting to me.
This ring can be also used for a paracord,
you can tie a string here
or you simply can hang the knife to a carabinier.
About dimensions....
it is a pretty large folding knife.
It is tight, indeed,
it is not more than 2.5 centimeters
but it is 25 centimeters long.
So, the overall length is 25 centimeters.
The blade is over 10 centimeters long,
it's almost 11 centimeters.
I have big hands and look,
there is handle left on both sides.
So, the handle is large and
the blade is also large, it's almost 11 cm.
It is almost 14 centimeters long when it's folded.
It's almost 15 cm long, 14.6 to be more precisely.
The blade's thickness is normal,
it is 2.3 millimeters thick.
I found it on Every Day Carry category,
EDC folding knife.
Taking its dimensions into consideration,
I don't consider it as being a folder
to carry every day with you.
It cuts pretty well, I didn't sharp it at all,
it's not as a razor but it does ok.
It doesn't have a lanyard hole
and it doesn't have a pocket clip neither.
I close it by pulling the ring
and I can hang it, indeed, to my belt pants.
"Cold Steel"
"Kudu"
A knife is a tool, not a weapon!
