Hi guys!
Today I'm reviewing and demonstrating the bareMinerals complexion rescue tinted hydrating
gel cream.
If you've never seen me before, my name is Maike, I am a makeup artist and welcome to
my channel!
I make mostly beauty and makeup related videos, if at any point you think you might want to
support me in that, you can always subscribe down below and I'd really, really appreciate
it.
So let's get right into the review.
This is actually the first thing I bought new after I decided to go cruelty-free, so
bareMinerals is obviously a cruelty-free brand um this is what the bottle looks like.
I got the shade Opal zero one, as far as I can tell that is the lightest shade, you can
see that on the back of my hand there hopefully um it is kind of going in the pinkish direction
um it's actually quite peach colored so I think even if you have yellow undertones or
um red undertones you can definitely pull this off, wow I put a lot of that on my hand
there hm let's let let that dry.
So, this was, this is thirty dollars in the US, it was thirty-one dollars where I got
it at douglas in Austria, which is more like thirty-six dollars, so everything here is
just a little more expensive when it comes to makeup.
It contains one point one eight ounces and thirty-five milliliters, fluid ounces of course,
um it says it is made in the USA, that is great and looking at the Sephora website at
the um shade range, I am not too impressed, it looks like it has about one two three four
five six seven eight nine ten eleven twelve shades for more lighter skins and then only
three for the deeper skin tones, but as it is a tinted moisturizer you might be able
to get away with using a lighter color on you if it doesn't cater to your darker skin
tone.
Um I guess you'll have to try, what does it say about it?
What is it?
A multitasking gel cream that combines hydrating skincare benefits with naturally radiant coverage.
What it does: Get instant hydration and a healthy glow, this multitasking gel cream
is the best of a BB, CC, and Tinted Moisturizer, all in one.
Complexion Rescue is makeup that actually, that's actually skincare in disguise, this
formula began as a moisturizer and we used our years of expertise in foundation to transform
it into a skin-qunenching complexion perfecter that's beautifully radiant and unique, so
unique that the formula itself is patented.
What it is formulated without: parabens, sulfates and phthalates?
I think that is what it, ,how you pronounce that.
What else you need to know: This product is a 2015 and 2016 Allure Best of Beauty Award
Winner: Best Tinted Moisturizer and an Allure Reader's Choice award winner.
Complexion Rescue is hypoallergenic, noncomedogenic, oil-free, and free of fragrance.
This noncomedogenic thing is pretty much a lie, because all things have to be noncomedogenic,
so some people write it on, some people don't it doesn't really say anything.
Reserch results: in an US independent study of 63 women, that's a very small sample size,
let me just say that, skin seems hydrated for twelve hours after application, skin appears
more awake and feels refreshed, skin appears more youthful, eighty-eight percent of women
agreed Complexion Rescue fits conveniently into their active lifestyle.
One week: reported 215% improvement in skin hydration, a hundred percent of women experienced
improvement in skin texture.
Right, so the ingredients seem pretty good, there is nothing really harmful in there um
I have used this for a few weeks now and I can tell you already overall, I like it I
don't love it, but I will go more into detail um during the demo and during my check-ins.
So I'm wearing it right now if you just wanna see the end result and quit this video now,
but if you wanna see how it applies and the difference to my skin before just keep on
watching.
Welcome to the unfiltered truth as you always get with my channel um my skin, wow ok that
was my cat, she is a little hyper right now so if you hear any noises that's probably
her.
Anyways um I have put nothing on face than hyaluronic acid.
I'm not gonna put a primer because I feel like I bought this tinted moisturizer because
it's something I just wanna throw on rather than go out of my house completely without
makeup, which I do a lot but just so I feel a little more comfortable I wanna just throw
something on and I do not feel like using a um primer is really what I want to do, then
I can put on a full face of makeup if you know what I mean um my skin at the moment,
I don't really have any like real blemishes.
I have a tiny one here but I have a lot of leftovers, I have my keloids here as always,
I have a lot of freckles and I have a lot of veins as always.
So the Sephora website How to Use: says how to use: suggested usage: apply to clean skin
with fingertips or brush, layer for additional coverage at home or on-the-go.
Try Complexion Rescue with bareMinerals Smoothing Face Brush for a professional flawless finish.
I of course do not have that brush because I definitely have enough brushes, so but I
looked at it and it kind of looks like the Urban Decay Optical Blurring Brush which is
this one, it's just this kind of like tightly bound um done shaped brush, so I'm gonna use
that on this side of my face and on the left side of my face I'm gonna use my fingertips
um I got the shade Opal zero one, this is the lightest shade which might be a little
bit too light for me at the moment, because I have a little bit of a tan, I know, that
is surprising, but I do.
This is me with a tan, get over it and I'm just gonna dot this all over my face and let
me start with this side with the fingers and I'm just gonna put, massage it in in circular,
oh got into my eye there, circular movements.
Now I have peeled my skin yesterday, so it might not be as noticeable, but it does tend
to really, really cling to dry patches on the skin, so flakes that I did not see before
um are a lot more visable after I put this on.
Wow I'm like really rough to my skin here um I don't wanna show you the inside of my
nose but here you can tell that it's definitely um making my dry patches look worse.
Ok so now I'm gonna go in with the brush and do this side.
Usually I feel like brushes don't really work for me with foundation but I feel like with
this tinted moisturizer the brush is working a lot better than uh my fingertips.
I just feel like it's kind of melting more with the skin and my pores look a little better
on the side with the face brush, this side than on the side with the fingertips.
I feel like in general this is not really doing a lot for my pores but the brush side
is a little better than the fingertips side.
It has an extremely dewy finish, this is just how it stays um it does not really dry down
anymore.
I feel like there is some reflective particles in there so if you want that dewy finish that's
great.
I'm just gonna let this sit a little while longer and then I'm gonna put a second layer
on.
Ok and now I'm just gonna take roughly the same amount again and I am putting another
layer in.
Again I'm going in on this side first, so now you can tell it's definitely buildable
and there is some coverage.
This is better than some tinted moisturizers I have tried, where there is really like no
coverage whatsoever, ok and for the brush.
Ok now you can definitely see on my nose and right here that the dry patches are really
accentuated and um it's really settling into my pores on my nose.
Ok and because I hate the dewy finish on my skin, because I have very texturized skin
and I feel like it accentuates that, I'm gonna use the Kat von D Lock-it Setting Powder in
translucent and this brush from Real Techniques um does it have a name?
Yes, it's one hundred, it's just a powder brush and I'm gonna set this.
And you always wanna set your face by pressing in the powder, you don't wanna go like this,
you want to press it in.
So I don't feel like this has a great amount of staying power uh I feel like it rubs out...
rubs off quite quickly um, so I'm of course gonna do a few check-ins, not sure how long
yet, it's around eleven o'clock in the morning right now, so we'll see, probably until I
go to bed, but it does mattify a lot um with the powder which is nice.
I prefer that, if you prefer the dewy look you can just leave it as it is.
So you can definitely still see a lot of my redness on my chin here um the keloids are
still shining... everything is still kind of shining through um but it is, I do feel
like it made the complexion better than it was before I mean this is a tinted moisturizer,
this is not a foundation, so you can't expect too much you know?
Just gonna give you a close up of my skin there so you can see the dry patches and see
everything well.
It's still very reflective even though I've set it with a very matte powder.
Ok I'm gonna finish the rest of my makeup now and I'll be right back!
Ok, so I finished my makeup this is the end result um it was no problem putting on bronzer
or anything like that afterwards, it was probably though because I set the tinted moisturizer
um I can definitely go outside like this, but then again I have no problem going outside
without makeup even though some people might like "oh my God your skin is so bad how do
you do that?"
um I just don't care.
So I'm gonna check in with you later, it is currently eleven thirty and I'm gonna do little
check ups during the day to tell you how this is holding up.
So I just wanted to show you quickly what the tinted moisturizer looks like in normal
lighting, I'm standing in front of a window here, the sun is kind of coming in, wait let
me get closer to the window, ok I think that's too bright um yeah, so this is what the moisturizer
looks like wihtout my soft boxes.
Hi, so it's almost four thirty now so I've had this on for almost five hours now um you
can tell that I'm very greasy on my forehead on my nose and on my chin, it has settled
into my little fold here that apparently not all people have and I never really knew that
before I did my makeup artist course, but yeah around my nose it has really settled
into my pores even more now on my nose um so on any kind of normal day I would probably
now use a blotting paper and then powder it a little more.
It has also pretty much completely rubbed off of my chin.
It is still very nice on my cheeks and yeah I will probably do another one or two check
ins, I'll see you in a little bit.
Hey, so it's about nine thirty now and I've been wearing this for about eight hours continuously
um I think it's safe to say that I'm an oily mess and I don't generally...
YETI...
KATZEN... um ok my cats are fighting, sorry, so I'm an oily mess and I generally don't
have that oily skin, so it's definitely this moisturizer like I do get oily around my nose
and on my forehead and my chin but like not on my cheeks to the extent that it's now.
I'm just gonna show you what it looks like now um but then again generally I wouldn't
go eight hours without at least blotting once or putting on you know setting powder to make
it a little less um oily um yeah, so in general what can I say about this, let me zoom you
out a little bit, so it's not as terrible um so in general I think this tinted moisturizer
is great for on the go when you just really wanna go outside for a couple of hours, just
a store or something and just to cover up a little bit, it's very moisturizing, it is
probably nothing for oily skin, because I don't have super oily skin and I look like
this um so I'd say dry skin, combination skin ok, it is not super great for texturized skin
because it has those reflective particles which in my opinion accentuates the texture
of the skin and it's great, it's cruelty free it does give a little bit of coverage and
I will definitely use it until it's finished, but I might look for another tinted moisturizer
after I'm done with this one.
Thank you for staying until the end of this video, that's pretty amazing, well done you!
