This BBK 62 millimeter throttle body is for those of you that have a 2004 to 2006 four
liter, six cylinder TJ and are looking to get a little bit more power out of that engine.
A larger throttle body is designed to get more air, and therefore more fuel into the
engine.
So you are going to get a little bit more power out of that engine.
However, the four liter that's in your Jeep has been used for a very long time.
It's been maximized from the factory for both efficiency and for power.
So you're not going to be able to squeeze a ton more power out of that engine.
That being said, if you are looking for every last drop of power, this is going to be something
that will give you a little bit of a gain.
This is a pretty easy install onto your Wrangler.
I'm going to give it a one out of three wrench installation.
Maybe about an hour or so to get it installed.
There are going to be a couple of sensors that you're gonna have to move over from your
old throttle body onto the new one, a couple of cables, but we'll talk a little bit more
about that installation in just a second.
If you are looking for a throttle body, this one from BBK is going to be a good option
because it's very well built, it's very high quality.
BBK has a good reputation for building throttle bodies, not just for Jeeps, not just for trucks,
but for all types of different vehicles, to get the most out of those engines.
This is going to be a mod that's going to be a little bit expensive for the actual amount
of gain that you're going to get from it, but again, if you're looking to squeeze every
last bit out of your TJ, this is going to be a good choice.
This throttle body is machined out of billet aluminum.
It is going to be a direct bolt-on to your factory engine, without any major modifications
needed.
So all of those factory sensors, all of those factory cables, everything is going to attach
right onto this new throttle body.
You're not going to have to change anything else up on your Jeep.
That makes for a very easy installation, and you're not going to need any sort of tune
to use this with your Jeep either.
Install it, fire it up, and it just works.
This is a one out of three wrench installation that will take you right around an hour to
complete.
The first step is going to be removing the cables from your throttle body.
You're going to have a kickdown cable.
You're going to have your throttle cable itself.
There are also a couple of sensors, that you'll at this point you really just need to unplug.
Of course you'll also be removing that intake tube from the top of your factory throttle
body.
Then you can remove the throttle body itself.
Once you have it removed, you'll go ahead and remove the sensors that are on that throttle
body.
This is a really good time to clean those sensors out as well.
You can use a sensor cleaner, a carb cleaner, a throttle body cleaner, whatever you'd like
to get any sort of buildup, any carbon buildup off of those sensors before you re-install
them onto your new throttle body.
Then you can bolt the new throttle body down, go ahead and plug in your sensors, attach
all of your cables, and also attach your intake tube.
This new throttle body is gonna run you right around $270.
That is going to be pretty much the going rate for a quality throttle body.
However, for the amount of power that you're actually going to squeeze out of this thing,
if you're looking at it for dollars per horsepower, it's not a great return.
That being said, there aren't a lot of options to get more power out of your 4.0.
So if you don't want to go forced induction, but you do want to squeeze every last drop
of power out of that engine, a new throttle body is going to be a nice choice.
So if you're looking to get a little more power out of that 4.0, a new throttle body
from BBK is going to be a great choice for you.
