giving thanks.

Oh my goodness the
Macy's Day Parade.
Mm-hmm It's a must-see
in my house.
We watch football.
That's another must-see.

All right, all right, all
right whatever.
Uh-huh But food and family for sure.
Huge, such an important part of this.
So today we're serving up a full
menu of yummy yummy food!
I'm getting hungry.
That's right from gluten free breakfast
and beyond to creating a traditional
turkey dinner with a twist.
Oh I like that, and of
course we can't forget the sweet treats.
That's what she likes, you know I love
that!
The sweet treats!
I've got some delicious
ideas that you can do at home with your
kids or for kids at heart like us, you're
gonna like it too!
Okay so time to plate
up, uh huh.
The Balancing Act starts, right
now!
[Music] So it's times like this I wish
we had that smellivision, because the
studio smells delicious right now and
that's because Olga has been busy in
the kitchen this morning.
I think she's got a
little bit of help, but I can't wait to
taste.
Don't worry Amber we have plenty so
let's start today's menu with breakfast
and more, I'm here with Angie Worth from
Nature's Eats.
Hi!
Good morning, thanks for being
here.
So nice to be here.
It's great we're
getting ready for the holidays you've
got an amazing spread for me this is
beautiful and besides this looking
fantastic it smells great.
I know you
don't know that out there but this is so
delicious tell me what the the secret
ingredient is in all of this?
Yes it is Nature's Eats almond flour.
It's ground
premium almonds from California it is
gluten free, it's a family-owned company
and it's a number-one seller in the
country.
Well if it's number one it has
to be pretty good.
So tell me why this is
let's say a good alternative to to using
flour.
Yes it transfers very well from
your traditional flour recipes and all

you mentioned gluten-free and that's
really becoming a huge trend in our
country.

kids are allergic to gluten but some
families are just choosing to eat
gluten-free.
Many families are choosing
gluten-free as their lifestyle choice
and it's a really healthy lifestyle
alternative.
All right so let's talk
about what we have here today let's
let's go over there let's start there.
Yes so these are pumpkin pecan muffins
they're made with the nature's eat
almond flour this is a great holiday
recipe made with pumpkin of course we
all love pumpkin at Thanksgiving time.
And here we have scones.
Yes so these are
both scones, and look at those cranberries.
Yes these are also made with Greek yogurt so it adds sort of
the tanginess that you would like in a scone.
And besides cranberries are there
other products as well with nature's
eats?
Lots of dried fruits and nuts for
your holiday recipes.
More to add and more to eat.
All right what is this?
It looks fantastic.
Yes so this is an example of our
savory option, so almond flour is in
this breakfast casserole it's very
easy to make
pop it in the oven it'll free you up for
an hour you can forget about it and then
it's done and breakfast is ready all at
the same time.
Last but not least.
These are a great option for holiday
time and you know you're doing the body
good.
It's a great alternative to regular
flour.
Okay I bet you know which one I'm going
to try.

[Music] This holiday season create great
memories with good food.
Hi I'm Chef
Stuart O'Keeffe and welcome to In the
Kitchen.
Now we use olive oil in our
dressings and our salads and especially
pasta dishes all the time, but do you
know what?
You can actually bake with it
too.
Now today I want to show you how to
make classic sugar cookies using extra
light olive oil from Star.
In my bowl I
have some flour, I got some sugar, salt
and baking powder.
And now we have our
wet ingredients.
so I got my milk here
and we've 3/4 of a cup of extra light
olive oil, now you can substitute 3/4 of
a cup for every one cup of butter in any
recipe.
I have two eggs we pop those in
there so I got my vanilla in there.
So I'm just whisking these up to
incorporate them into the dry ingredients
but another great reason why I'm
using this extra light olive oil is because
there's a ton of unsaturated fats which
are great for us.
So I'm just going to add
the wet into the dry so I'm just gonna
mix everything and we want to get a nice,
we don't want lumps, we want a nice smooth
paste.
We're gonna pop this in the fridge
and to firm up before we roll it out.
Ok that looks good.
You want to wrap it in
saran wrap pop it in the fridge for
about an hour or if you're in a rush or
freezer for 30 minutes.
Okay so we're
gonna lightly dust our surface with some
flour, on the top too and I just like to
put a tiny bit on the rolling pin as well.
So you want to start from the center of
the disc and you want to roll out, until
you get your cookie dough to about a
quarter-inch thick, we got our beautiful
little star shape here.
I'm just gonna
press down kind of shimmy it a bit for
it to come loose, that is beautiful.
Alright we got our last one here ok so I
have my oven already preheated at 375
degrees I'm gonna pop it in there for
about 9 to 12 minutes.
All right beautiful and you want to get
them nice see they're nice and firm to the
touch and they're nice and brown on
the edges that's when you know they're
done.
Now the best part.
We have Eliza and Kylie to
help me out.
So I have two questions for you guys: so
what's your favorite part about the
holidays?
Baking cookies.
Baking cookies.
What's your favorite part?
Decorating.Decorating.
Ok well that's perfect
why don't you grab your cookie and you

solution to preparing healthier food for
the holidays, take it away Olga!
As we continue this
special Thanksgiving Balancing Act I'm
joined to the kitchen with our very own
Chef Mark my friend who's been very busy
this morning.
Good morning.
Good morning, Olga how are you?
I'm doing great because one thing that
you and I have in common is?
We love food! we love
food and you've been busy this morning
cooking something healthy?
Yeah well so
healthy Thanksgiving which kind of a
new concept I think.
We've been using the
air fryer.
Air fryer?
Healthy?
It's wonderful machine they allow you to fry,
roast, bake and all that all your favorite
food and we're only using anything from a
couple tablespoon to no fat at all.
All right so let me understand this the
go wise USA air fryer allows you to do all
that with very little oil?
Or none at all.
Oh my gosh fantastic!
So I can fry my girl's
favorite frying snacks like french fries?
Of course french fry?
And make it healthier?
Yeah mozzarella sticks, french fries.
Okay show me how it works, tell me what
you did?
So we did an interesting thanksgiving menu.
Okay.
Okay so we'll start with the sides,
well it's fun thanksgiving.
Okay we'll
stop with the sides.
One thing that I
thought would be really fun for the kids
and for the adults as well some macaroni
and cheese balls.
Macaroni and cheese balls!
Exactly so we made macaroni and cheese
roll them up a little a bread crumb
so make and then they go right into the
basket, ten minutes taken up golden gooey
cheesy, we can put a little bit of cheese
stuff over the top.
And I don't feel the heaviness of the oil.
Exactly there is virtually no oil,
it's wonderful little product.
Stuffing, that's really great!
Stuffing we did a
regular stuffing any recipe you want,
your grandmother's recipe or get it
right out of the box put it together put
it in a little casserole and the casserole fits right inside the
basket.
How many minutes did you put that in for?
About 15.
Just to warm it up, crisp it up
nice on top.
So I know the girl wise USA
airfryer it times up to about 30 minutes
right?
And I know has a number of presets.
How many?
Yes, there are seven presets.
Presets for fish, for chicken, for french
fries, for roasting, for baking.
And many models come like that pre
program so it takes the thinking away from
frying.
Exactly!
Okay, now where's the turkey?
The turkey is actually in this
basket right here.
Okay and the turkey
again we took a turkey breast you gotta
be kidding you made that in there?
Yeah of course we took a turkey
breast a little seasoning a few herbs and
I'll just grab the platter excuse me.
How many tablespoons of oil?
I think we used one on this one.
And it's moist inside?
And juicy, moist.
Give me a cut.
We're gonna cut a slice.
I wanna see the proof in the pudding here.
And the idea is when you fry turkeys
it's dangerous you know you have a lot
of oil, look how juicy that is.
Look you can see all the juice coming
out.
Can I have a little piece?
Of course!
This is fabulous, a little bit of oil and again how
many minutes in there?
It stayed about 40.
And you're so sweet you made
gravy for me this morning.
Of course, a little gravy.
Oh and let's just put a little bit of
gravy on there.
Look at that and you have the beautiful turkey.
You have one more thing to show me?
Yes we also make
some potatoes this morning.
It's nice and
moist the herbs come through.
So we make
some potatoes, the potatoes are in this
fryer, in this air fryer right here and
again cut the potatoes in big dice I throw
them in there for about 15-20 minutes
until they are nice and stuff and crispy.
And you get a lot in there.
Oh yeah look
at that.
In fact there's different sizes, there's
a 2.75 port model, 3.7 quart and 5.8
quarts, so how big is your family is, you pick your
cover.
Well we eat a lot so we'll get the 5.8 quart.
Exactly so the potatoes came out nice
and crispy I like to top them with a little
bit of garlic and parsley makes them a
little bit better of course as soon as
they come out of the fryer you want
to hit them a little bit of salt.
And chef the
rapid air circulation technology cooks
food by circulating hot air in all
directions ensuring fast and even
cooking, Exactly and the best thing I
like is that it's healthier, it's not
mashed potatoes yeah we took out the
butter we took out the ad cream or sour cream that some
people put into their mashed potatoes.
And how easy could it be? two minutes you cut them, put
them in here, you've set your buttons and
you're forget it.
A thanksgiving meal all that
and you're done.
And you walk away.
And chef it's an easy space-saving
countertop appliance.
Absolutely oh my gosh are you
going - I don't know you have so many
here today are you gonna give me one for
the holidays?
Well which one would you
like we have them in black we have them
in red as you can see and we also have a
really nice color we have the plum back
there.
She wants a plum.
Can I just grab it?
I love to cook I'm a gourmet cook at home .I'm
gonna try this out I love you for this.

alright let's be honest anytime, is the
perfect time to get crafty in the
kitchen and play with our food.
Today I am in heaven because Keith
Danoff is here from Haribo and he's
brought me some of my favorite candy to
work with and as you can see I've got some
junior assistants here too.
Keith these gummy
peaches are like mind-blowing to me they
rock my world but just a small percentage of the candies that
you guys offer?
That's right we have over 20
varieties in the US and thousands
globally.
I thought that Haribo was a
Japanese brand but I found out it's a
German brand and the name has a really
special story.
Yeah it's really neat it's
an acronym for our founder Hans Riegel
and the company was founded in Bond so
it's Hans Riegel Bond.
And he was
actually the first creator of the gummy
bear.
That's right almost a hundred years
ago.
Now I mean that's amazing and you
make a hundred million of them a day?
Absolutely!
Mind-blowing all right well
look we've got some, our little chefs over
here working and I want to show you this
look at these cupcakes that we're
working on we've got Ben and Sophia here
and they're taking these cups filling
them up with our favorite gummy bears
and then we're just gonna put this
cupcake right on top.
This is where the
fun fun comes in all right you ready
ready Ben?
You take this bag and Sophie
you ready?
So what we're gonna do is I
sees cupcakes we've got a little star
tip in here and you're just gonna
slightly go around and look this is so
much fun.
So now tell me about these I see some
other candies in here Keith that I've
never seen before, we're gonna decorate
with one of them this looks like a ring
to me.
It is but I've never seen the
shape.
It's part of our new Star mix
product that we're just launching it
has all your favorites plus the rings in
there so you have the gummy bears the
happy Cola, the cherries, and the Twin
Snakes.
And the happy Cola is your
favorite, right?
It is.
All right so I'm
gonna leave you guys, decorate make them
look fun, do whatever you want with them!
This is so great so the Twin Snakes,
what's the deal here we've got two they
pull apart is it just for fun?
It is for fun but
the other cool thing is half of its
sweet and the other half sour.
Oh I love it so for people who want a
little bit of both great.
I want to look at some of
the other things while our little chefs
are decorating over there.
Caramel apples are like such a holiday staple
and we were able to bring some whimsy
to it by putting gummy bears around this.
Now these are the pineapple ones
right?
Yes they are.
It looks so beautiful it looks so
festive and man when you bite into that
caramel and get a little bit of that
pineapple gummy bear, ah delicious!
And then I know
you're gonna love this because again it
it's the cola we took some basic black and
white cookies, stuffed the little
popsicle stick in them, dipped him in chocolate
and then we really elevated this by
sticking in the cola gummy bears, by
sticking in the cherry bears.
I mean I know you're gonna
love this one right?
Oh it looks delicious.
And you've got kids at home.
I do.
So this is something
that we can see is easy for kids do, it's fun
for adults to do.
I've got a highlight
this cake here because I was surprised I
had no idea these were Haribo.
Yes they look great don't they?
They're beautiful
and this cake costs under $10 to make.
I feel like if you went into a
store right now, you'd spend hundreds on
something like that.
And all we did was we took yellow
cake we frosted it and then we took
these raspberries and blackberries and
guess what?
You don't have to worry about
them going bad you don't have to pick
the good ones how gorgeous does this
look?
Looks delicious.
Why don't you put one on
top for us?
I mean this is beautiful.
Okay so another fun dessert that we're
gonna make Mud Pie cups.
So how much fun
are these right we took some pudding we
layered it with cookies I'm gonna let
you guys top us off, and then we're gonna
take these twin snakes and put them in
like it snakes coming out of out of a
cop, I mean how fun is that?
