El ex deportista de 33 años, había trabajado en los últimos tiempos como entrenador y comentarista y actualmente presidía una comisión dentro de la Unión Internacional de Patinaje sobre Hielo

Un día antes, SafeSport, una entidad encargada de investigar acusaciones de abusos sexuales en el deporte estadounidense, le había impuesto una suspensión que le prohibía temporalmente participar en cualquier actividad relacionada con el patinaje

SafeSport tomó la decisión en respuesta a acusaciones recibidas contra Coughlin, pero no ha dado ningún detalle sobre qué se le imputaba
