Hello everyone!
Today I'm doing a get ready with me video
I'm going shopping with my mother in law this afternoon and going over to their house for dinner
so I thought i'd share with you a very approachable, kind and natural look for visiting families and friends
If you are interested then please keep watching
For the base makeup, let's start with the Visee concealing base
I've been using this for a whole year now and it's still going strong, this is a large bottle
I love this concealer, it's light to medium cover, but very watery and hydrating, great for the under-eyes or if you have dry skin
My parents in law typically have Chinese meals all the time
So I thought I'd make them some western food today for a change
I'm thinking about making a pasta and maybe a meat dish
Maybe a BBQ ribs? or roasted lamb? or briskets?
Base makeup, I'm using the Surratt surreal skin foundation
One of you guys told me that this was on sale for 50% off at sephora, so I immediately went and got a back up, thanks for the reminder!
Some of you have asked me questions about handling the relationship between my in-laws
Actually I think i'm not the best at it myself
I'm very blessed to have really nice in-laws
Because we actually don't live together (in Chinese culture, a lot of times the couple would live with the in-laws)
So I think as long as you don't live together, there shouldn't be many issues
Now use the YSL touche eclat
Apply it right under the eyes
just to highlight
I think my in-laws are actually very understanding already
They don't really pressure me into doing anything
but i think with in-law relationships, it's very hard to score a 100%
so I don't think you need to pressure yourself into doing so
When i just got to know my mother in law, I think she really wanted to be super close with me
But i mean at the end we are from two generations, and it's hard for all our thoughts and views to align with each other
So i think as long as you respect each other, can understand each other
and be friendly with each other, be open minded and respectful, then I think that's pretty good already
I'm applying a tiny bit of powder around my brows so i can apply the brow powder more easily
I don't need much powder at all
Ok, now the base makeup is finished
Has any of you tried working at the same company as your in-laws?
So...this may be tmi, but my biggest challenge right now is not the normal day-to-day relationship with my in-laws
but i actually work at the same company as my in-laws. I have my own practice, but we belong to the same network (if that makes sense)
and more importantly, my mother in-law is actually my direct mentor/supervisor
I know...
this has been my greatest challenge so far
ok contour, I'm using this one from etude house
I think this is particularly difficult. I mean in real life, you can be casual with each other and most things don't really matter
But at work? i mean it's really hard to strike a balance
I think I am a bit lost on that really
I'm not sure how to handle a both work and family relationship, if any of you have that experience, please share with me, that would be very very helpful
I think i really struggle with the separation, now we talk about work at home and then I'm not sure if I should relax or not, etc.
I personally am not a fan of mixing the two, but I don't know
OK for brows let's go with SUQQU
So because we have this type of relationship at work, i feel like we can't really fully connect in a personal way outside of work
i am always wary that i'm talking to my supervisor and can't really fully relax even at home
do you know what I mean?
Oh btw, I was watching a youtube video, where a youtuber and her boyfriend just got engaged
they are going to get married soon
and they are sharing what they want their married life to be like
and they mentioned that they each want to live with their parents after getting married
and their parents will become neighbors
So the girl will live with her parents and the guy will live with his, and they two big families then become neighbors
Is this normal? Can anyone tell me?
In my opinion, not living together after marriage is a little odd, isn't it?
I personally think it's a little strange
but a lot of people actually think this is normal! i mean not just that couple, but also people in the comments section
They all comment and said oh this is great then you can take better care of your parents
I mean, i get it, you can definitely take better care of your parents this way
but i mean after you get married, can you not take care of your parents if you don't live with them?
or do you have to take care of them everyday?
I mean does this make me sound like a bad child? the fact that I don't think taking care of the parents every day is necessary? (both parents are perfectly healthy btw, that's a given)
Now some nose shadow
Since I'm going to my in-laws today, so I think I should keep the makeup quite natural and approachable
I don't think a lot of makeup is necessary, so I'm going for the new huda beauty paette
i have seen this a lot on youtube arleady
But let me still show you how I'd use it
ok now I just primed my eyelids, I'm using the tom ford eyelid primer
This is almost out, as you can see
but let me show you something
This palette actually has a base shade
So if you don't have a primer, there is already one in this palette
I'm gonna first apply the shade "tickle" all of the lid
this is a nude pink color
This is a very romantic look
oh btw, I'm watching a new TV show recently
It's called the marvelous mrs maisel
Any of you watching it too? It's from amazon video
I saw a lot of people recommending it and i was in need of a new show, so i decided to check it out
It comes free with amazon prime
It's really really good! Super good show
i think it has a great story and wonderful meaning behind it
Like women fighting for their own right in that age, it's great, won 8 Emmy awards too
The actors/actresses were great, and also the fashion!
Even my husband commented on how beautiful Mrs Maisel's outfits were
ok i've applied a bit of the nude pink color on the upper and lower outer parts of my eyes
now take this sparkly champagne color
Apply it right at the middle of the eyelids
this will make your eyes look more 3-dimentional
Then for the outer color, let's take this color
this shade called kinky
It's a shimmery purple color
I'm gonna use this flat brush to apply
ok continue with the show, the marvelous mrs maisel is a story about a jewish house wife, Mrs. Maisel
who lives in the fancy upper west side of NY
dreaming and fighting to become a stand-up comedienne in the 1960s
not sure how to explain stand-up comedy in Chinese, but trying very hard now....
Then blend this out using a fluffy brush
woo, i like this, very soft look
Now take this deep purple color
What are some other TV shows that you are watching?
I think i shared this in a previous video, for all of your international students out there, I think watching English TV shows and movies is one of the best ways to learn the language
Ok now let's move on to the eyeliners
then mascara
I am using SUQQU recently
This lash curler is also from SUQQU
i have recommended the SUQQU lash curler before, it's super nice
the curls stay longer, and it doesn't damage your lashes as much
I think the SUQQU one lengthens pretty well, but doesn't provide as much volume as the kiss me mascara
since we are here, let's layer the kiss me one on top and see
Hmmm, it's really better, more volume for sure
Can you see the difference? One eye has the kiss me mascara on top, one doesn't, pretty obvious right?
Ok so before apply blush, we can clean up the base makeup a bit using the makeup sponge
looks cleaner now, now for blush
let's use a cuter color
This is from Surratt, I will type the shade name in the info box below
this is a really cute pink color
so you have to use a light hand when applying it, or else it would been to barbie like
ok just like this
just a very light brush of color
for highlight i'm using this one
This is from cle de peau, i'm almost out too
I really want to use up all these hit-pan products
then i can really declutter my makeup collection
I really have too much lol
a little under the eyes too
ok last thing, lipstick
what should we use today?
we can try.....nude pink? red?
ok let's try double dare from kat von d
this is a pretty fail-proof color
will it be too bright?
ok i think that's today's look!
do you like it? I may re-do my bangs later
but it kinda looks cute this way as well, more natural looking
I think this is a great look for visiting friends and families
a cute and natural makeup look
ok let me change and show you the full outfit
ok for accessories, i have on this necklace from Les Nereides
and a pearl stud
very simple on the accessories
For my outfit, i'm wearing this crew neck cashmere sweater from UNIQLO
and a skirt from ann taylor
I love this coat, this I got from W Concept (last year)
i think it's very cute, you can tie this up
very casual but put together
you can also lose the belt if you like
the boots are from Stuart Weitzman, 5050
For the bag, I used this mini crossbody from Furla
that's my style for today
Now i'm gonna go shopping!
ok so hope you enjoyed this video, if you did don't forget to thumbs up and share
see you soon!
