Is pretty normal that you think that kids
may break the computer or maybe download
a virus and suddenly stops working
or even your smartphone
my only recommendation is
to buy a very good protector
to void to break it since is very normal
to smash and break them
and you know what? for me kids are not gulty of break it
because you know it can happen
and you can easily solve it
buying a protection this thick
maybe the cell phone is this big and the protection is like this
and never is gonna break
when you protect correctly your stuff they don't break
in the case of a computer
I understand that is a system way more
complicated and bigger
that obviosly it can be way more
expensive but at the end of the day
the kids also has rights to access to the computer
kids can also explore everything, they
will naturally explore
if you trust them, they will teach you
where the things are, they will understand better
Honestly, in my life
as many software engineers to fix the computer to
the friends, the cousing, the aunt
and I can tell you that
many of the people that I had the
oportunnity to fix their systems
they didn't know, they were afraid and
simply I used to give them permission of everything
like install a system
or a software
or download images or whatever
because people was afraid. I used to tell them always
don't worry, do everything what you want, worst case scenary
you can call me and tell me what happened and I can help you to fix it
not a big deal
there were few places
where the parents didn't know
anything about the computer
not even turn it on or know what was installed
and when something was broken
I didn't used to ask to the parents, I used to ask to the kids
where do you have these files?
you want me to same them?
you have music? videos? where do you store your images?
many times I used to talk to the kids instead
the kids are the ones who knows the most about the computer
even myself when I was kid, my parents
used to let me turn on the computer
and I used to do everything in the computer
I broke many computers also because I've been
always exploring
but you learn by taking risks
and in the worst case we had to bring it with someone else to fix it
maybe I fix it by myself
I learned how to fix a computer because I like it
a lot but you have to let the kids explore
I started like that and today I'm software
engineer and I'm not only
fixing computers, actually I don't even fix them anymore
right now I dedicate myself more to the websites and
mobile apps that are a bigger challenge
for me. I never though
when I started fixing computers that
I would end up writting code or
connect to the server in New York
that is managing many processes and
doing may crazy things
simpy just started to explore more and more
and my explorer's instinct
growth so much and here is where I am
I ask you to give them the opportunity to your kids
nephews, grand childs
to use the computer, the computer is
one of the best things that I've had
I think is the best
and today is my way of living
is what let me buy food
