Jeff Sessions Stepped Up To The Plate And Handed Democrats Some Very Bad News

Democrats have settled on a strategy of 100 percent resistance to Donald Trump.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions has said enough is enough.

He stepped up to the plate and handed the Democrats some very bad news.

California is at the center of the anti-Trump "resistance."

The legislature passed a law declaring it a sanctuary state for illegal aliens.

That crossed the line.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced a lawsuit against the state for their defiance

of federal immigration law.

The DOJ is citing the supremacy clause – which holds that state law cannot pre-empt federal

statutes – as the basis for a district court in the Eastern District of California to declare

California's sanctuary state law unconstitutional.

Breitbart reports:

"ATTORNEY GENERAL JEFF SESSIONS WILL SPEAK WEDNESDAY ABOUT HIS DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE'S

(DOJ) FIRST-OF-ITS-KIND LAWSUIT CHALLENGING THE CONSTITUTIONALITY OF THREE OF CALIFORNIA'S

"SANCTUARY" LAWS, BREITBART NEWS HAS LEARNED.

RELYING ON BOTH FEDERAL STATUTES AND THE U.S. CONSTITUTION'S SUPREMACY CLAUSE, DOJ WILL

ASK THE U.S. DISTRICT COURT FOR THE DISTRICT OF EASTERN CALIFORNIA TO ISSUE A PRELIMINARY

INJUNCTION BLOCKING THE ENFORCEMENT OF THESE LAWS INTENDED TO PROTECT ILLEGAL ALIENS BY

PREVENTING COOPERATION WITH FEDERAL IMMIGRATION ENFORCEMENT.

DOJ WILL ALSO SEEK DECLARATORY JUDGEMENT THAT THESE LAWS ARE UNCONSTITUTIONAL – "PREEMPTED"

BY FEDERAL IMMIGRATION LAW – WHEN IT FILES LATE TUESDAY NIGHT.

"THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE AND THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION ARE GOING TO FIGHT THESE UNJUST,

UNFAIR, AND UNCONSTITUTIONAL POLICIES THAT HAVE BEEN IMPOSED ON YOU," ATTORNEY GENERAL

SESSIONS IS EXPECTED TO TELL A GATHERING OF CALIFORNIA POLICE OFFICERS WEDNESDAY IN SACRAMENTO.

"WE ARE FIGHTING TO MAKE YOUR JOBS SAFER AND TO HELP YOU REDUCE CRIME IN AMERICA.

AND I BELIEVE THAT WE ARE GOING TO WIN."

A SENIOR DOJ OFFICIAL MADE CLEAR THAT HE BELIEVED THE LAWS INTENTIONALLY CREATED OBSTACLES FOR

FEDERAL IMMIGRATION ENFORCEMENT IN CALIFORNIA, THE STATE WITH MOST ILLEGAL ALIENS IN THE

COUNTRY.

THE DEFENDANTS ARE THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, GOV.

JERRY BROWN, AND CALIFORNIA ATTORNEY GENERAL XAVIER BECERRA – THE ELECTED OFFICIAL WHO,

PERHAPS MORE THAN ANY OTHER, HAS MADE PROTECTION OF CRIMINAL ILLEGAL ALIENS AND "RESISTANCE"

TO PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP'S IMMIGRATION AGENDA HIS SIGNATURE POLICY.

THE DOCTRINE OF "PREEMPTION" DICTATES THAT, AS FEDERAL LAW REIGNS SUPREME OVER STATE

LAW, STATES MAY NOT ENFORCE LAWS THAT FRUSTRATE FEDERAL POLICIES.

IT HAS A LONG HISTORY, DATING BACK NEARLY TO THE DAWN OF THE REPUBLIC WITH 1819'S

MCCULLOCH V. MARYLAND.

IN THE IMMIGRATION CONTEXT, THE DOCTRINE WAS WIDELY HERALDED BY OPEN BORDERS ADVOCATES

IN 2012, WHEN THE SUPREME COURT RELIED ON IT TO STRIKE DOWN SECTIONS OF ARIZONA'S

TOUGH SB 1070 ANTI-ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION BILL IN ARIZONA V. UNITED STATES."

Trump supporters have seen liberals cherry pick courts to file lawsuits – usually in

the ninth or fourth circuit court of appeals – against Trump agenda items so left-wing

activists posing as judges could slow down Trump policy initiatives.

They were demanding Sessions and the administration fight back against this lawless "resistance."

Sessions' lawsuit against California is the first step in the administration's campaign

to reassert the rule of law in America.

We will keep you up to date on any new developments

in this case.

BREAKING: Supreme Court Justice Arrested, Indicted On 22 Counts Fraud & Corruption - Duration: 6:07.

BREAKING: Supreme Court Justice Arrested, Indicted On 22 Counts Fraud & Corruption

A West Virginia Supreme Court justice is in very hot water and is about to go to prison

it looks like.

Allen H. Loughry II, a 47-year-old justice at the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals,

faces up to 395 years in prison and $5.5 million in fines after being hit with a 22-count indictment

on numerous charges of fraud and corruption.

Someone's been a very naughty judge.

He was charged by a federal grand jury on Wednesday with fraud, false statements, and

witness tampering offenses.

Loughry will be back in court this week to answer the charges against him.

"A federal grand jury has charged a Justice on the state's highest court with numerous

and serious federal crimes," United States Attorney Mike Stuart said in a statement just

released.

"On this day—West Virginia Day—the people of our great state deserve better.

They have worked too hard and too long to tolerate misconduct that strikes at the heart

of the public's trust by their elected officials.

I intend to do all that I can to ensure that our people have the honest government they

deserve."

This turn of events must have shocked the good people of West Virginia and really, really

ticked them off.

Among his offenses, Loughry is accused of using a government vehicle and credit card

on personal trips.

He was living it up on the public dime.

He also unlawfully converted to his own use a historically significant piece of furniture

– a desk that belonged to famed architect Cass Gilbert.

Loughry has also been charged with attempting to obstruct and influence testimonial evidence

of a Supreme Court employee in an imminent grand jury investigation.

His alleged corruption is long and deep and now very, very public.

Justice Loughry was arrested by FBI agents on Wednesday at his home.

He was then transported to the federal courthouse in Charleston for processing and to schedule

his arraignment.

He was not expected to be detained pending his trial.

That surprises me.

I would think his bail would be revoked and he would be detained as a flight risk.

"Public corruption is a top investigative priority for the FBI," FBI Assistant Special

Agent in Charge Nick Boshears said.

"It erodes public confidence and undermines the Rule of Law.

We want the people we serve to know the FBI will hold those accountable who betray the

public's trust."

It's a pity the FBI doesn't hold itself accountable these days.

Just sayin'.

This looks like a very bad guy and I'm glad he was busted.

Loughry took office in 2012.

He was selected to serve as Chief Justice of the West Virginia Supreme Court in April

2017, but later that year was replaced amid reports that he and another justice spent

more than a million dollars of public funds.

He has since been suspended without pay.

He deserves far worse than that in my book.

Loughry is a registered Republican but is facing much more serious jail time than Democrats

caught in similar circumstances.

Not that he doesn't deserve it, but the law should be blind to politics and social

status.

All of them should face the same justice.

I would say however, 395 years seems excessive on all this.

I doubt that will be his sentence.

There is no doubt he's going to prison, but it will be significantly less than the

maximum here.

House Speaker Tim Armstead (R-WV) released the following statement regarding the indictment

of Supreme Justice Allen Loughry:

"I'm saddened and disappointed to read these very serious allegations of corruption

by a member of our state's highest court contained in today's indictment.

I am deeply troubled by these allegations and believe my fellow West Virginians are

as well.

"Under the legal process in our nation and state, Justice Loughry will be afforded due

process as the case against him is prosecuted.

While he has been suspended from sitting on the court and is not receiving pay, I would

reiterate my belief that it is in our state's best interest for Justice Loughry to resign

so we can begin the long process of restoring our citizens' trust in their judicial system.

"Regardless of what course Justice Loughry may choose to take, the Legislature will continue

its work to get to the bottom of what has occurred, to evaluate the evidence and assess

how best to proceed to ensure that our judges and all public officials are held to the highest

legal and ethical standards."

Sharky Democrat House and Senate leaders say they are renewing their call to begin impeachment

proceedings for Justice Allen Loughry.

They smell Republican blood in the water and are going for it.

"As we stated in our June 8th letter to the Governor, President Carmichael and Speaker

Armstead, our citizens deserve to be protected against corruption- and the Legislature must

stand strong against Justice Loughry's abuse of power," Senate Minority Leader Roman

Prezioso (D-WV) stated in a press release.

"The announcement today of the federal indictment of Supreme Court Justice Loughry is not surprising,"

House of Delegates Minority Leader Tim Miley (D-WV) added.

"The Governor and Republican leadership must take immediate action – and I am hoping

that perhaps today's news will prompt them to finally initiate an impeachment proceeding.

Continued delay reflects tacit indifference to his behavior."

Regardless of political affiliation, no one is above the law.

If Loughry is guilty, then he should be punished to the full extent of the law here.

He should resign while these charges are worked out legally.

He's charged with 16 counts of mail fraud, two counts of wire fraud, one count of witness

tampering and three counts of making false statements to a federal agent.

Even a state Supreme Court justice has to answer to the rule of law.

Shaq told ex-teammate who protested during national anthem in 1996: 'That's tripping'

Shaq, as he pointed out in a profile published in The Hollywood Reporter this week, doesn't like talking politics.

But he said he would have done the protest movement that NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick started during the national anthem differently.

And, he wasn't a fan of a college teammate doing his own protest during the national anthem two decades earlier.

From the Hollywood Reporter:.

Despite his pro-police stance, O'Neal doesn't offer a strong opinion on most topics — a rarity in today's Twitterverse.

On Kaepernick, he says, "I have nothing bad to say about the guy, but if I was making a stand, I probably would have got about 500 top athletes, set up a press conference, invite everybody to say something and come out on TV," he says.

People forget that Kaepernick isn't the first to balk at standing during the anthem.

Denver Nuggets guard Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf was doing it back in 1996.

"I called him and said, 'Hey, bro, you don't want to be standing for the anthem, just stay in the back, you know? 'Cause you're starting to offend some people," he says of his ex-LSU teammate.

"I was like, 'Look, man, that's tripping.

Stay in the tunnel. Don't come out.' ".

Abdul-Rauf also was protesting oppression and racism when he didn't stand for the anthem during the 1996 season.

"You can't be for God and for oppression.

It's clear in the Quran, Islam is the only way," he said at the time (via The Undefeated).

"I don't criticize those who stand, so don't criticize me for sitting.".

He was fined by the league and eventually reached an agreement to stand and pray with his head down during the anthem.

"It's priceless to know that I can go to sleep knowing that I stood to my principles," Abdul-Rauf told The Undefeated in 2016.

"Whether I go broke, whether they take my life, whatever it is, I stood on principles.

To me, that is worth more than wealth and fame.".

Mariners joke Ichiro Suzuki should be in Home Run Derby - Duration: 4:52.

Mariners joke Ichiro Suzuki should be in Home Run Derby

NEW YORK (AP) — Now that hes no longer an active player, maybe Ichiro Suzuki wants to start swinging for the fences.

How about at next months Home Run Derby during All-Star festivities in Washington?.

What began as light-hearted banter among Seattle Mariners coaches grew into something that caused a stir in the clubhouse before Wednesday nights game against the New York Yankees.

Hes got power and hes been launching balls into the seats, Mariners manager Scott Servais said.

A couple of coaches said the other day, You know, no one wants to do this Home Run Derby.

Why dont we just send Ichiro? Hed be awesome..

The idea gained momentum when Servais mentioned it on a radio show Wednesday, and suddenly a new Twitter hashtag was born — #IchiForDC.

Not officially retired but unlikely to appear in another major league game, the Japanese-born Suzuki shifted to a new role with Seattle as special assistant to the chairman in early May after batting .205 in 15 games this season.

The 44-year-old travels with the team and is in uniform for games, helping out with batting practice and other drills while keeping a locker in the clubhouse.

Even though hes still in game shape, Suzuki didnt seem to be entertaining the idea of throwing his hat in the ring for the annual power contest.

Im not a player (anymore) and just the long, great history that MLB has, I dont think it would be good for it, Suzuki said through a translator.

But I think its fun and Im happy that its come up..

Servais was happy the concept was being discussed, even if it was nothing more than a joke.

This is really good because hes been giving me a hard time so Im really glad to throw this back in his lap, he said with a grin.

   .

Suzuki, the 2001 AL MVP and Rookie of the Year, found humor in the situation — but promised revenge on Servais.

Its the funniest thing hes said this first half of the year, Suzuki said.

Im definitely going to get him back.

Im going to continue to get him..

Suzuki has 3,089 big league hits, but only 117 of those were home runs.

Despite reaching double-digit homers in just three of his 18 major league seasons, Suzuki often displayed surprising power in batting practice and it was widely believed he could have clubbed a lot more over the fence if he tried.

But the 10-time All-Star maintained his unorthodox, slashing swing throughout his career, leading the league in hits seven times.

Right now Im eating two hamburgers at lunch, and now that this Home Run Derby thing came up Ill have to up it to three cheeseburgers for lunch, get some more power, he quipped.

If Suzuki did try his hand against some of the games top sluggers in the nations capital, however, he knows who hed want pitching to him.

Mark Buehrle, he said, after a long, contemplative pause.

Suzuki was 27 for 66 (.

409) against the left-hander, who won 214 games over 16 seasons.

'Was that a man or a woman?' Trump mocks protester at Minnesota rally - Duration: 2:37.

'Was that a man or a woman?' Trump mocks protester at Minnesota rally

DULUTH, Minn.

— After protesters interrupted President Donald Trumps Minnesota rally, the president mocked one protesters appearance questioning whether they were a man or a woman.

Was that a man or a woman? Because he needs a haircut more than I do, Trump joked as the protester was escorted out of the Duluth event.

I couldnt tell. Needs a haircut..

The protester appeared to hold a picture of Trump with another person.

Trump also told the protester to go home to your mom, darling.

Go home..

The crowd chanted USA as the demonstrator was escorted out of the crowd.

     .

During the rally, Trump also praised North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, predicting hell turn that country into a great, successful country, blamed Sen.

John McCain, R-Ariz., for his no vote on an Obamacare repeal last year and bashed the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

The rally came just hours after Trump signed an executive order that aims to stop family separations on the border while still maintaining a zero tolerance policy to prosecute all illegal immigrants.

The Trump administration faced harsh, bipartisan backlash over the policy, which resulted in the separation of more than 2,000 children of adult illegal immigrants in the past month.

The scope of the order, however, did not address how the already-separated children would be reunited with their parents.
