fifty years ago Berkeley California was famous for its free speech activism
today it is a very different place this week Berkeley's City Council unanimously
unanimously declared to be the world in quote a climate emergency to fix that
emergency Berkeley called for a push to halt all carbon emissions worldwide and
said governments must make efforts to quote humanely stabilized population a
phrase ribière would surely love Anna Shay Hussein is a writer and focal
commentator and she joins us tonight they stop for coming on thanks so much
for having me so I I'm a pretty literal person they say it's a climate emergency
sounds right to me so if it's an actual emergency why does
anyone in Berkeley have an air-conditioner sincere I mean I hate to
sort of ask that people live out their purported beliefs but if they're telling
the rest of us we need to have fewer kids why are they still driving and
using AC honestly you know I totally agree with you Tucker but I also don't
think they're just telling us to have less babies I mean climate change and
the impact that human beings have on environment is related to a lot of stuff
not just the amount of children that we're having it's about carbon emissions
it's about eating less meat so I think we can all agree that we care about our
planet but it's not just about having a less children oh no and I don't think it
is totally no I did the idea is insane and grotesque and it's it it's a window
into what this really is which is social dimension how is that see okay but hold
on if they are saying it's an emergency how can they justify riding buses having
cars refrigerators any activity that adds to the sum total of co2 emissions
and said why are they still committing these activities no I'm sure why should
I listen and take anyone seriously who's driving a car and simultaneously telling
me not to have more kids well I don't think they're saying that it's a company
of factors and the climate is really complex tucker right it's not just one
thing you need to stop having babies I need to stop writing my car I think in
general the younger generation the Millennials are becoming more
environmentally cautious we have more ride-sharing apps I mean I think the
technology is catching up to the fact that people are becoming more conscious
people are much poorer because they are deeply in student loan debt and they
have no money
okay that's also part of it there's more than one factor when it comes to climate
change and what we can do to reduce our impact right look I'm I actually am in
favor of a clean environment so I wonder why have you noticed this that places
that spend the most energy telling the rest of us that the world is ending
because of change also tend to have the dirtiest streets and the largest number
of people were leaving themselves in the sidewalk and the most trash why not if
you really care about the environment maybe you could clean up the sidewalk in
front of City Hall does that ever occur to liberals I wonder you know what not
just liberals it's not liberals that are responsible for climate changes all of
us and I agree with you we can't just talk the talk we have to you know also
follow up with actions and why no but seriously
if you care about the environment and making the world cleaner by the way I
agree that we agree with that we all want to keep the environment cleaner and
yeah but yeah you've been to Berkeley recently have you been to New York City
if you've been to San Francisco there are people if their trousers down
relieving themselves on the sidewalk you know yeah you know what it's not
necessarily about where in the world is more populated it's not who is using
more resources and I completely agree with you we all
for talking past each other can can you agree that if we're going to make the
world cleaner we can start by cleaning up the sidewalks and then maybe we can
get to the part about fixing the hole in the ozone layer it's everyday what is it
why are the cities with the the most open and aggressive commitment to the
environment of dirtiest why is Portland Oregon a filthy place down specifically
about Portland but not all in cities that are saying that we need to do
better about our environment our filthy where are you getting that stat from
okay but just track with me really quick just for this one question if you say
you care about the environment do you agree or disagree that maybe you should
start by cleaning up the street in front of your house it's not why can't you do
both do both I'm not saying you can't do both but why is it my people lecture you
me about the environment live not environments that are about the net we
can all do more right no we don't all care about the planet about the planet
that's why my house has nobody sleeping on the front step because I care about
the environment thanks for having me up next the creepy porn lawyer isn't doing
as well as he once did fear not though he knows exactly who to blame for his
troubles a creepy porn lair update next
overexposed he is overexposed Joe and he is under-delivered you don't go on cable
news 1012 times a day that's bush league all of those things are what bush league
lawyers do when they're in it to get the publicity this attorney michael avenatti
is like feeling very Gloria Allred on me overexposed
oh the fickle media they use him then discard him the creepy porn lawyer
appears to have overstayed his welcome you saw that coming
the first one or two hundred TV hits were fine but even now MSNBC is getting
tired of him so what's the creepy porn lawyers next move well it's obvious if
you've been paying attention blame Russia duh in an interview with The
Daily Beast creeper porn lawyer says that Russia Putin is running a smear
campaign against him in the press you shouldn't be shocked by an explanation
it should sound pretty familiar the left is blamed Russia for pretty much
everything you can think of Trump winning the 2016 election the release of
DNC emails brexit the NRA left wing populism in Mexico that was Russia's
fault but so is right-wing populist with another ones left in right-wing populism
in Italy simultaneously the campaign to release the Devin Nunez memo marine
lepen dries Jill Stein here in the United States the Catalonian
independence movement in Spain social media attacks and Paul Ryan hacking of
the electrical grid a 2017 documentary not winning an Oscar WikiLeaks the
Facebook support for Bernie Sanders the desire to investigate FISA abuses
opposition to the deep state an airplane crash that killed 69 Russians in
February not wanting to give guns to the Ukraine even and this is the best of all
President Trump's decision to bomb Syria in which thousands of Russian troops are
currently stationed that was a Russian operation - apparently the Russians
managed to do all of this working at cross-purposes against themselves and
still and this is the amazing thing any credit by the way to Slovak vigor still
have enough energy to go after a creepy porn lawyer here in American cable news
world they're amazing those Russians
on the show we have chronicled the war on standards on at the FAA where
irrelevant biographical questions were imposed on
aspiring air-traffic controllers sadly this is far from the only example of
standards declining in the United States beneath public view there's never debate
on any of this it just happens it's happening in fact in scientific fields
you wouldn't think it would but it is and in the pages of a City Journal
Heather McDonald has chronicled it in detail how schools or other institutions
are cutting requirements in an effort to be more diverse whatever that means
Heather McDonald also wrote the upcoming book the diversity delusion and she
joins us tonight Heather thank you for coming on so we were really stunned to
find that the FAA was intentionally trying to hire unqualified air-traffic
controllers because it's insane and dangerous but you wouldn't think that
that same impulse would find its way into the hard sciences into medicine for
example or research science but you say that it is it's very disturbing Tucker
there's not a single meritocratic institution that is free from the poison
of identity politics the federal government is wasting tens of millions
of taxpayer dollars pressuring scientific labs to hire by the
irrelevant criteria of race and gender it's doing research on get this
intersectionality in the STEM fields research conducted by two specialists in
gender identity this is not what Congress had in mind when they created
the National Science Foundation in 1950 to sponsor serious scientific research
we're putting our scientific competitiveness at great risk by
introducing the total irrelevance e of of race and gender diversity into
scientific accomplishment well I'm not confused because I thought the left
quote believed in science they had all March announcing that I think about a
year and a half ago is there scientific evidence that the race or gender of a
scientific researcher for example is material that it affects the outcome of
the experiment in some way well the left hates
science when it's
