One Witness Just Flipped And Now Robert Mueller Could Be Closing In On Trump
Robert Mueller has been pressuring Trump associates with criminal charges to induce them to turn
on the President.
Mueller has finally succeeded.
One witness flipped to the prosecution and it could be bad news for Donald Trump.
Mueller passed along information to the Southern District of New York that allowed prosecutors
to begin an investigation into Trump attorney Michael Cohen's business practices.
This investigation is unrelated to Russia and critics used Mueller of illegally expanding
his probe by laundering the information through federal prosecutors in New York.
Anti-Trump journalists believe Cohen – who spent over a decade as Trump's "fixer"
– holds the key to bringing down the President.
And now his partner in a taxi medallion business has flipped and is cooperating with prosecutors.
This led to speculation that it is only a matter of time until Cohen pleads guilty and
begins to cooperate with investigators.
The New York Times reports:
Under the deal reached with the New York attorney general's office, the partner, Evgeny A.
Freidman, a Russian immigrant who is known as the Taxi King, specifically agreed to assist
government prosecutors in state or federal investigations, according to a person briefed
on the matter.
The broadened scope of Mr. Freidman's cooperation may prove worrisome not only to Mr. Cohen,
who is the target of a continuing federal investigation, but also Mr. Trump.
The president's lawyers are already resigned to the strong possibility that the inquiry
into Mr. Cohen's businesses could lead him to cooperate with federal prosecutors.
That likelihood may now be greater, with Mr. Freidman potentially sharing what he knows
with federal prosecutors in New York and the special counsel.
Mr. Freidman has been Mr. Cohen's partner in the taxi business for years, managing cabs
for him even after New York City regulators barred Mr. Freidman last year from continuing
to manage medallions.
Mr. Cohen's lawyer, Stephen Ryan, declined to comment on Tuesday."
The media is hot after Cohen because every other avenue of investigation has collapsed.
No investigation has turned up evidence of collusion with Russia.
The fake news Christopher Steele dossier claimed Cohen traveled to Prague to meet with Russia
agents.
Cohen has strongly denied these allegations and even provided social media postings that
indicated he was in Los Angeles when Steele claimed he was in Prague.
Anti-Trump activists in the media believe that if Cohen is turned, he could implicate
Trump in some financial crime related to his business dealings.
Since there is no evidence of collusion with Russia, it's the swamp's best chance to
remove the President.
Will Cohen turn on Trump?
Cohen has strongly denied he would ever flip on Trump, but the President's lawyers believe
it is only a matter of time.
The question then becomes if he has any evidence of wrongdoing.
No one believes he has any proof of collusion with Russia so it could end up being another
dead end.
