NFL Unveils Pathetic 'HAIL MARY' Solution to Disrespectful Anthem Protests.

The NFL is in big trouble.

So big, that they're now trying to address the "Anthem protest" started by failed

quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

Problem is, their "solution" is a joke and doesn't take a STAND for the anthem,

our vets, or police officers.

The NFL will allow players to remain in the locker room during the national anthem.

However, if they come out and protest the flag or anthem, their teams will get fined.

That is the new policy announced in a statement by Commissioner Roger Goodell on Wednesday.

It matches reports tweeted by ESPN NFL reporter Adam Schefter:

Anthem resolution is likely to be announced this afternoon, and it is expected to allow

players to stay in the locker room during anthem and fine teams for any flag/anthem

disrespect, per league source.

ESPN's Seth Wickersham backed Schefter's reporting:

Owners right now expected to vote on a proposal that would remove requirement for players

to be on the field for national anthem, allow them to stay in locker room if they wish,

and will fine clubs, not players, if "personnel do not show proper respect for the flag and

anthem."

Now, along with the commissioner's official statement, other details of the policy have

emerged:

On Tuesday, it was reported that the league would assess 15-yard penalties to teams whose

players protested on the sidelines.

That idea, though, was resoundingly mocked on Twitter.

As suggested by Breitbart Sports, the NFL may have released the story about penalizing

players in order to make their actual policy seem more reasonable.

That would appear to be the case with what's happened here.

If Schefter's report is accurate, the players would still be able to protest, in a sense,

by remaining in the locker room.

Conversely, should players choose to publicly disrespect the flag, their teams would get

penalized.

Which would give owners an incentive to curtail the protests.

While fining the teams could work as a deterrent to the protests, in theory, unless the fines

are significant the NFL's billionaire owners might find it all too easy to simply pay the

fines.

However, if the fines are significant, the owners may exert real pressure on the players

to stop the protests.

Also noteworthy, is the provision that the discipline of the protesting players will

be left to the teams.

That will give more liberal teams the latitude to treat protesting players more lightly.

While giving more conservative owners the ability to drop the harsher disciplines.

In any event, the fines are not likely to match or exceed the millions and millions

of dollars that the protests have cost the NFL already, as fans leave the sport in droves.

According to a survey from UBS Securities, 50% of those who said they watched less football

in 2017, listed the anthem protests as the main reason for their decision to snub the

game.

Ominously, the number of people naming the anthem protests as the main cause for watching

less, rose 18% from the previous year.

The NFL is now entering its third season of dealing with the anthem protest issue.

The protest movement began in the preseason of 2016, when then-49ers quarterback Colin

Kaepernick sat, then knelt, in protest of the Star-Spangled Banner.

Dozens of players followed Kaepernick's lead by either kneeling, sitting, or raising

a fist during the anthem.

Kaepernick walked away from his contract with San Francisco at the end of the 2016 season.

He has failed to sign with another team since leaving the 49ers.

Kaepernick has filed a collusion grievance against the NFL, claiming that NFL owners

conspired to keep him out of the league.

thought of as a "public forum" from which users may not be excluded on the basis of

their views.

"We hold that portions of the @realDonaldTrump account — the "interactive space" where

Twitter users may directly engage with the content of the President's tweets — are

properly analyzed under the 'public forum' doctrines set forth by the Supreme Court,

that such space is a designated public forum, and that the blocking of the plaintiffs based

on their political speech constitutes viewpoint discrimination that violates the First Amendment,"

the decision reads.

For purposes of the First Amendment, a public forum is an open space reserved for free exchange

or expression of opinion.

Government interference in such spaces is subject to a high degree of judicial scrutiny.

Trump Cancels Diplomatic Summit in Letter to Kim Jong Un

President Trump has cancelled a diplomatic summit with Kim Jung Un over a dispute between the two administrations.

President Donald Trump will not be meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un next month for a scheduled diplomatic summit, he announced in a letter released by the White House Thursday morning.

"I was very much looking forward to being there with you.

Sadly, based on the tremendous anger and open hostility displayed in your most recent statement, I feel it is inappropriate, at this time, to have this long-planned meeting," Trump wrote.

"Therefore, please let this letter serve to represent that the Singapore summit, for the good of both parties, but to the detriment of the world, will not take place.".

Trump and Kim were scheduled to meet in Singapore on June 12, for what would have been a historic first face-to-face meeting between a US and North Korean leader.

According to the National Review, the summit was canceled shortly after foreign policy adviser John Bolton invoked the example of the deposed Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhaffi to illustrate the consequences for Kim Jong Un if North Korea refused to cooperate with the United States.

"This will only end like the Libyan model ended if Kim Jong Un doesn't make a deal," Vice President Mike Pence said in an interview with Fox News, adding that his statement was "more of a fact" than a threat.

President Trump then decided to withdraw from the summit after a North Korean vice minister of foreign affairs responded to Pence, called Pence a "political dummy," and deemed his threat "unbridled and impudent.

" North Korean officials also publicly vowed to never surrender their nuclear capabilities in exchange for economic concessions.

According to CNN, the Trump administration was furious about the comment and "wanted to respond forcefully," multiple sources told the news outlet.

"You talk about your nuclear capabilities, but ours are so massive and powerful that I pray to God they will never have to be used," the letter stated.

"Whether the US will meet us at a meeting room or encounter us at nuclear-to-nuclear showdown is entirely dependent upon the decision and behavior of the United States," Choe Son Hui, a vice-minister in the North Korean Foreign Ministry, told North Korea's state-run KCNA news agency Thursday.
