Let's talk about bras! Specifically bras worn in Germany and the U.S.

Hey everyone! I'm Dana and you're watching Wanted Adventure Living Abroad.

First up on the agenda today: a little bra vocabulary.

Bra-cabulary if you will. And I will. Bra-cabulary. Uh-huh. That's what I'm going with.

In English this is called a bra.

This part of the bra here is called the cup.

The wire here underneath the cup is called the underwire.

These are called the straps of the bra.

And then you've also got here the hooks. Ta-da!

Whereas in German this is referred to as a BH.

BH stands for Büstenhalter. Which literally means bust holder. The holder of the bust.

And it is. That's actually perfectly descriptive.

And as for the bra cups, I have seen them called BH Cups in Germany, as well as two other things:

Brustkörbchen, which literally means little breast basket.

So the cups are the little breast baskets in German.

As well as Schalen, which can also mean bowls.

So in English these are cups and in German, Schalen, which also means bowls.

Bra straps are called BH-Träger.

And in the back of the bras in German you've got the BH-Verschluss. There we go!

And before we move on from the bra-cabulary, German even has a common saying involving the bra.

Alles klar im BH? Which literally translates to "is everything okay in your bra?"

Only it almost rhymes in German, and just means something like "is everything alright?"

But now leaving the vocabulary stuff behind, let's move onto something a little bit more complicated.

Bra sizing.

You might think that I'm exaggerating here, being too dramatic, and okay, maybe I am just

a little bit, but seriously: what is up with bra sizing?

Why is the sizing of the bust holders so complicated?

Okay, so in both the U.S. and Germany bras are sized by cup as well as by the band that

goes around the bra.

And the band number is in inches in the U.S. and in centimeters in Germany.

But watch out!

Watch out here because the normal conversion from inches to centimeters does not work here.

It does not work with bra sizing.

Yes, the band size is computed using inches in the U.S. and centimeters in Germany, but

there are some sizing changes that often get made along the way, which is what leads to

the whole inches to centimeter or centimeter to inches conversion not really working

as far as bra band sizes go.

What in the world am I talking about here?

Okay, 34 inches would convert to about 86 centimeters, but on the bra sizing charts

that I've seen, a size 34 bra in the U.S. unfortunately does not correlate to a size

86 bra in Germany.

No, that would be way too simple.

And then because that's not confusing enough, there's the letter part of bra sizing, the cup size.

And unfortunately that does not seem to be the same in the U.S. and Germany either.

And to complicate things further, different charts that I have seen actually give slightly

different information on what an American cup size would correlate to here in Germany.

American bras start with a size double A and then it goes: A, B, C, D, then double D and

triple D, although in some of the charts triple D was actually written as E, and then alphabetically

from there.

While German bra sizing starts at A and does not have any double letters or anything like

that, it just goes A and then alphabetically from there.

However, some charts showed an American double A cup as being equal to the German A cup,

while other charts showed the German A and the American A cups as being the same size,

and I guess in that case then, the American double A cup would just be smaller than a

German A cup.

And I guess that size just doesn't exist in Germany? Yeah, I don't know.

I think the lesson here is that bra sizing is confusing. Very confusing.

I'm hooking to my trailer

Sorry, I am a bit distracted

Today is the 20th of april

In Montreal it is 2 degres Celcius

It is snowing a bit

And this is my first trip

Well, not really

I didn't record one full trip

Probably you know what happened, my father passed away

I have a bit of a mess in life, but lifes goes on

And I have to work

I noticed that

Driving and

making those movies

Makes me going in some way and is my way of reacting

to various things that happend in my life

So I don't really feel like recording but I am forcing myself to do so

I have to regain my energy

There is a nice opporunity since I haven't been in Florida for at least 2 years

Lately Prince is sending many single drivers that way

It just turned out that I didn't

And my last 3 trips when I came back from Australia

My boss kept sending me to British Columbia

Even thow most of single drivers were forced to do Floridas

So I could see my father

Anyway I don't know why he passed away

When I was leaving him thursday

Friday he was supposed to leave the hospital

The doctor said that he is recovering and was getting stronger

And they would release him on friday. So I left thursday

And saturday I received a phone call that he passed away while sleeping

And then again my boss sent to me once more to BC

So I can make all the arrangements

I had to cremate his body and I want to take his remains back to Poland

Enough of sad things

So I'm going to Florida

4 degres in Monreal on this 20th of april

In Florida it should be around 30 a this time

Let's escape this winter

When I will be back it shall be spring

Right now we have a real Montreal winter that started in november

and ended in april

And there won't be any spirng

We might get 3 weeks of 15-16 degres

And then heat waves

This is Montreal

Todays plan is to drive I87 south

I don't think I will take I88 and I81

I will just jump over New York

And I will end my day somwhere on NJ/DE state line

That's the plan

My load is quite heave

Peat Moss, when going to Florida it's common to take peat moss down

I have to weigh

My trailer is very light, one of the newest ones

Thermo King unit. It will make my sleep easy

Very silent unit

But I still have to weigh

to make sure my axle weigh is all right

my tractor is heavy

I need to to this so I will know if can top up my fuel

I have to first activate our scale

And then get on the platform, she takes a bit of time to scale

Now is the most important part...the drives

It has to be less than 34000

Cmon.....

I will have to slide my tandem and now....

So I am not that heavy

I am fine, I will be able to fuel it to the top

So what is my total

About 77000 lbs, very nice!

Our yard exit your already know

I din't like getting out this way

But at this time the traffic is not so bad

I'm leaving friday morning and my delivery is on monday morning

Basically I could only leave in the afternoon

I drive only 3 - 4 hours today

So tomorrow and sunday make it all the way

But I have a different plan

Since I have a bicycle

Since I am going to Fort Pierce

It's about 100km north of Miami

But Fort Pierce is close to...

close to

the ocean

walking distance is far but on a bike?

So I will get there

let's say today and tomorrow I drive all day

Sunday by 1 pm I should be there

And the afternoon until sunset I will go by the ocean

I still want to call my receiver

at around 11 am today

If I can park there with my truck

With Elog it is very relevant

For example to start my shift jsut after making my delivery

If I go to sleep on the truck stop

In order to deliver I have to start my day

And the 14h clock is ticking

And believe me it goes away very fast

The orders do not come up

I don't think I will receive any info before 11 am - noon

And probably I will load only in the evening

Thus I want to start my shift as late as I can

And if it is possible to stay by the client I will do so

If not

Too bad

I will just start from the truck stop and make the delivery

It is a FCFS

First Come First Serve

From 8 am to 2 pm I believe

So I will go at around 10 am to unload

Because when I know that if I start at 10AM

I won't feel like driving past midnight

From now on, we have to take many factors into consideration

All right, before I leave the yard I stil have to check

I think that in NYC area it will be warmer

because in Montreal it will be already 15 degres tomorrow

There is always a problem here

Every single time

No one ever leave enough space

And grid lock is created

So I as was saying

In NYC area it should be warmer

And the thermal wave should

hit my past Washington DC

I took a lot of shorts

Simple as that I'm going towards the summer

I think I messed things up here

They fixed my APU

It wasn't really broken it just need it maintenance

Fuel filter was full

Oil was to be changed

And when the fuel filter is full

it would not run

So they fixed that but they didn't have time

to fix my other problem

my engine fan is always on

and the only way to turn it off is to restart the engine while driving

Once engaged, the engine fan will never go off

I have no idea what's the reason for that

might be electric issue or the clutch itself is tired, I have no clue

We are talking about a truck witch has over 1 200 000 km on it soon 1 300 000

So this is my small problem

but other than that

the truck is perfect

they had lights here before

and it came back as it was... to a stop sign

very funny

This is a real drama

with this snow

and this guy who is going slow

this ring: the 30, was needed badly for Montreal

Witch they finished a few years ago

is already saturating

and further is even worst

but the design is made so it's easy to expand and add lines

They should have done 3 lanes right from the start

My navigation is always showing me 3 different paths

But it's never the path I want to take

Commonly, when going to Florida

through NY 95 south all the way

It's the shortest way

But there are many tolls and a lot of traffic

There is a trick

I87 to Albany

from there I88

Then I81

And then all the way to I77

Towards Charlotte

and end up much further on I95

but

I often use a different route

I88 I81 and in Virginia i cut back to I95

To Richmond

and also it's about 40 km more

But this is the most quiet and predictibale road

the least risk of traffic

because it's after Washington DC

And from there you're on flat

And the I81 I77 with a heave load it's always up and down

i don't like going that way because it's a very truck crowded highway

It's hard to to overtake

And its always slowing down, speeding up

When I'm light, it is fine but when heave no way

That being said, I shall stop talking for real now.

And after Albany we will see witch route I will take. Let's go.

This time of year

20th of april

in the Adirondacs

White summits is uncommon

But on the way back it will go away

i predict it will be spring time

I have to check the weather, I might end up in warm air today

Allan is coming this way

He is coming back from Florida

i have no idea if we will meet each other

some place before Albany

We might not even see us because of the trees and rocks

we wil see

I87 from Platttsburgh to Lake George

is a scenic highway

No advertisement is allowed

it makes a difference

the ads would just mess the view

it's a long stretch without ads, just road signs

we should have more places like that on Earth

Inspection is open

In New York state there aren't really regular scale houses

there are and there aren't

but when they have a blitz

they can stop anywhere

lights flashing

we have to get off the highway

50 / 50 they pull us over or not

it depends if they already have fish in the net

This guy passed me

So we just drive by

and go back to highway

The Sun is up

We are leaving the cold air finally, at least I hope so

yeah, the temperature is rising

in about 200 km we will be in a different weather

so let's make our glasses to more comfortable ones

In NY they are shifting towards cash less tolls

like in Mass, everything is all electronic now

warning, camera window going down!

Btw NYC and Philadelphia for sure it will be jammed

Even if they have 6 lines quite far as of now

but well, let's be protective

I always try to devide my day in half

After 4-5 hours of driving

I stop, but if I feel like I drive more

but this highway

I88 in NY

ok, for cars it's ok

but for trucks... hell it's not in a good shape

Anyway, it's windy today

we had some sunshine but it's gone now

Really I don't know when I will get to warm weather

so when my break finish?

What is new? I bought something to go under my bike

because sometimes I bring dirt into the cabin

and I have a plan to buy some carpets

because in the back it's already fine

but I want some in front to feel cozy

My friend inspired me

when I visited his truck, it was a big volvo also

my break is about to finish and I will go on

to better weather!!!

I decided to bring back fuel for my car from the USA

You know why

for the principle

I don't drive much my Mazda around

But in Montreal gas prices are going nuts

generally in Canada

Say 8 years ago

price of oil was around 120$ baril

price of gas at the pump was

1.50CAD and all time high at the time

right now the crude price is 68 dollars

and the gas price is reaching

1.40

while in the US

you can buy it for at least 40- 33% off

depends when

so for the principle

I took my tank

And I will take some fuel with me

I can take about 18 - 19 liters

just for it ok? Not for the money.

on this highway

there are two kinds of highways in NY: paid and non paid

Interstate and Thruway

Doesn't matter paid or not, quality of road sometimes sucks

NY State is specific

Up and down up and down

in about 120 km

Pennsylvania also

forget about it

beter roads begin in

in Virginia

all the way down to Florida

They have good roads there

Fast fueling

and keep going forwward

There is a new feature at Loves

you can start the pump from your phone

just get the app and input all the info

instead of doing it at the pump do it on your smartphone

or when the pump keyboard fails

just do it from your phone

do it and it's ready

So for how did I drive today?

oh 6h10min

so I have left

about 4h50min

So if I drive 4 it will be fine

all the way to the end of Pennsylvania

it should be it

Once I've got down from the hills of Pennsylvania

The weather changed just so

It's like 14 on plus and green

My day has passed quickly

up and down slower and faster bla bla bla

This ain't my favorite highway

Tomorrow it will be much more easy

I will park at the end of Pennsylvania

I should not have any problems with parking

Tomorrow will be another interesting day hwy 17

to get back to I95

And then on the flat almost all the way to Florida

In the Carolinas

North and South

I still don't know where I will go to sleep

We will see tomorrow
