There's a bear!
We slept so well that even though alarm was set for six, we kept snoozing
Then we woke up 7:40
Now we're planning to head to Lassen Volcanic National Park
I don't really know anything about it but it's not too far to north
So let's go and see
I'll give you a quick overview to our car here
It's an alcove model registered for 5 people
There's no bed to lift
But you can squeeze the mattresses in there
The cab is spacious
Room for plenty of crap
Adjusting the chairs is a bit clunky
And it has automatic gearbox
The table is quite regular one
And a spot for one person there
It's more solid build than Europeans
It's all proper iron
The gas cooker gives bigger flames than the european ones too
The microwave works either with generator or connected power supply
And you can start the generator by pressing that button there
Water pump and water heater are there too
These have constant water pressure when the pump is on
The fridge is pretty large
And it's worked pretty well
The heater is below the fridge
It's pretty loud too
And air con works when generator is on you're connected to power supply
It's quite loud as well
We haven't been keeping it on too much
It's all pretty heavy
Like these are solid wood
All the cupboards and stuff
They're not lightweight like the european counterparts
And they're all quite simple solutions, like this has no locking mechanism
It stays shut with these... things
Works pretty okay
The european RVs have all sorts of fancy mechanism
Here you just remove the pipe and you have this kind of storage where you can put it to
And if you look at that mechanism there it's not the most brilliant engineering
And the lights are LED lights
They all have switches like this
It's more function over form
On a positive note they're very spacious
Even though this is a 'small car'
And bed is here in the back in this model
And bathroom is here next to it The shower is quite big
It's pretty good for a shower
And the toilet is quite normal
There's some heavy snow there
We got through the gates and there's the visitor center
Let's go see what's open and what's closed
There's some people here
And it's warm
And there's some snow there
I guess we'll find out, there was nothing on the gate about closed roads
But it said that road closed before
- It's probably just some regular thing for them
It's closed for the winter or something
The views here are really nice
It's like a spring in Finland
The rivers are flowing and the snow is melting
The food is nothing extraordinary, but at least we'll get fed
Pulled pork was frozen
Ordered some pizza but it'll probably be a microwave one
As long as we get some food and energy
Magnets
You need a souvenir, and it's nice and small one
Which colour?
Quite limited opportunities here
There's snow everywhere
So not everything is open, only good option is to walk on the road
You can walk as far as you want
And there were bears
So you can try to spot one
But she's afraid
I'd like to see some bears
But I guess we have no other options except to walk on the road
So we ended up taking the RV
See if we can take it there
A little boring to walk to the parking zone
It's a really long walk
I'm sure we can get the car there
So we got it to bus parking
There were other cars as well so it's okay
We'll leave it there
Now we go onwards
It smells of sulphur here
So there's one source of the smell behind us
This road is closed
But we keep going
I like this place a lot
The scenery is beautiful and there are no people
It feels like proper nature
and a little bit of excitement about meeting some bears
The parks that are probably not most well known have been the best places for me
There's a bear!
We saw a bear
In the nature
I don't think there's snow on the road
But they're probably afraid of avalanches
Or that
Falling objects... that's why they dont want us driving here
It might look chilly in the picture
But it's really warm here
It must be over 25C
Maybe closer to 30C
Luckily there's a fresh breeze of wind
The snow must keep it cool
so it's nice and fresh
There go the skiers
Towards the bear
Now quite a long walk downhill
It's around 5 PM
It's probably two hours or so downhill walk from here
Haven't seen people for a long time
After the skiers not a single one
Alone with the bears
Made it back to the car
That was around 5 hours of walking
Back and forth
Lovely scenery, I loved it
Now we need to go to search for a place to sleep in
Who knows where we'll find one
So we found a bag next to the street
So we have a new operation to track where it belongs
It wasn't next to the road, but on the road
So we are trying to find the owner
Some really dodgy people came next to us on an old RV at the walmart parking lot so we decided to move on somewhere else to sleep
