Hey everyone, Dana here!
It's gray and I'm struggling.
Last Wednesday I put a video out from the Christmas market, a lovely Christmas market
in Germany.
It was in a castle. And the castle was all lit up at night. It was so beautiful.
There was this huge lovely Christmas tree and all kinds of Christmas music and delicious
smells, and that's one of the lovely things about wintertime in Germany.
That and also it's really nice when it just, like, really snows.
And there's just that white snow everywhere.
That's really beautiful.
But then there's the gray. Yeah.
I used to joke about it, or I have in the past joked about it with my friends in Florida.
I've said that, like, at the middle of November in Germany, this gray cloud kind of floats
over the country and then sits there until March.
Okay, of course that's an exaggeration, but some weeks it just really feels like that.
Right now I'm visiting my mother-in-law just outside of the Cologne area, and I've been
here for a week and a half now, and in that time I have barely, barely seen any sunshine.
Like I've seen just a tiny bit, tiny bit of sun the other day just as the sun was going
down, so in the sunset I saw a tiny bit of sun and, like, kind of a red glow of the sunrise
this morning.
But that's it.
Like today is actually one of the brightest days.
If I go over here, you can see there's a little bit of blue sky up there.
Um, but still no sunshine.
And, I've got to say, it's been hard for me.
Whoo! It's windy. It's windy. My little flaps are blowing in the wind.
So yeah, like I said, in the past, I've kind of joked about the grayness; I don't know,
it didn't really seem to bother me that much.
But this year I definitely feel the gray skies, the lack of sunlight weighing heavy on me
and on my heart and kind of really on my mood.
So much so that I've actually found myself really looking forward to the evening and I don't mind
that it gets dark earlier now because I look forward to the evening because at least if
it's dark out, then it's not gray.
And so I've actually been thinking about maybe getting a light box.
I don't know anything about light boxes, but I have heard that maybe that's something I
should look into.
So if anyone watching this has any experience using a light box, I would love to hear down
in the comments below about your experiences with light boxes.
Thank you very much.
And other than that, I just try to get up and go outside, even when it's gray.
I do, I have found that once I'm outside, um, that does help, even if it's gray.
Right now, like I said, I'm visiting my mother-in-law, and so right now Mr. German Man and I are
walking the dog.
You gonna throw it at me? No!
And just getting out even though it's gray, I've found helps a little bit...maybe...
but I still really miss that sunshine.
So yeah, there are some things about the winter that I really like, like the snow and the
Christmas markets.
But honestly, the gray has been really quite hard for me this year.
So my question for you is: do the gray winters bother you, and what do you do to enjoy the
wintertime, what tips do you have for me?
Please let me know in the comments below.
Thanks so much for watching.

But so far it has not been a success.
Let's find the ball for the dog.
Did you find it? Success!
