I'm Miguel JiMu and I'm going to tell you about how I came to the United States.
I traveled to the United States with a fiance visa.
When they granted me my visa, they told me they would send me my visa within 2 weeks and then I could travel.
At this moment, everything was great! Until I realized a small detail....
My fiance and I had already bought our plane tickets to travel within the next week.
At 2 days before we were supposed to travel, we still had not received my visa.
We tried calling the US embassy many times but they always told us the same thing.
We had to wait for an email saying that the visa was ready to be picked up.
We were so afraid that we would not get the visa on time and lose our plane tickets.
Guys, I can't make this stuff up.
The day before we were supposed to travel I woke up and saw I had an email on my phone.
The email said that my visa was ready to be picked up!
Imagine, in this moment my whole life changed.
Because I finally knew for sure that I could travel to the USA.
In just one day I had to back my suitcases, say goodbye to my friends and to my family.
That night I was so excited to travel to the USA and travel in a plane for my first time that I couldn't sleep.
We got up very early the next morning,
On my first flight from Guatemala to Atlanta they gave me a little pair of wings for my first time flying.
It was so beautiful to see my country from the sky.
But I didn't really like the turbulence of the plane.
I was so scared when the plane lands because it shakes so much!
I was excited to be traveling, but also sad because I knew it would be a long time before I returned to Guatemala.
When we got to Atlanta, my fiance and I had to separate.
I had to go into a line for tourists, and she had to go to a line for citizens.
I didn't know this was going to happen, and I got really nervous because I didn't know english.
They asked me many personal questions, but luckily the officer knew how to speak spanish.
Once we got through immigration, we went to look for our flight to Chicago.
The airport in Atlanta really shocked me.
The Atlanta airport is so huge that we had to take a train from one gate to the other.
While we were waiting to board the plane, I watched all the huge airplanes.
In that moment, I realized everything in the US is very big.
Once we were on the plane, before we took off...
I looked out my window and saw traffic of airplanes, waiting in line to take off!
There was a huge line of airplanes waiting to take off.
While I was on the plane, I started to get anxious because in Chicago my fiance's family was waiting for us.
I had never before met my fiances dad or her brother.
When we landed in Chicago, I went straight to the bathroom.
I washed my face.
I combed my hair.
I looked at myself in the mirror and said...
Let's go, you can do this!
hahaha I still remember that moment.
Then I met my fiance's family, and it all went well!
And that is how I came to the United States!
