- Hi guys, it's Keith.
Welcome to the vlog.
This is gonna be a look back at 2018
but maybe not your standard look back.
Today, we're doing story time and the topic is the 207.
Stick around to find out what I mean.

Alright guys, let's get to it.
Roll that intro.
(rock music)
As many of you know, around Christmas of 2017,
my dad passed away.
It was one of those life changing moments.
That a lot of us have gone through,
and it's never easy.
It would've been easy to say YouTube doesn't matter.
My number weren't staggering at,
just under 1000 amazing subscribers.
It's not like I was throwing down
Casey Neistat numbers or anything.
But I pushed on so I wouldn't miss my deadline that I set
of uploading a video every Wednesday.
Early January 2018, I published a few videos
of some stuff from Louisville that we did.
Then, an unlikely source of inspiration,
the local weatherman.
(dramatic music)
We have a new computer model
and it's showing a huge system pushing through the area.
Early estimates predict levels near the same
as the the blizzard of 1978.
I'm predicting a minimum of 10 inches.
Early 2018, it was cold and snowy here in Indiana,
and the weatherman said, "We're getting a huge snowstorm."
We got some snow, but it was nowhere near
what they were predicting.
And that's how the weatherman skit was born.
At that point in time, I needed something light
and something fun to help me cope and get through
the time with my dad passing away.
Now, the weatherman skit fit that perfectly.
Chrissy and I had so much fun making that video
and the outtakes of that thing still make me laugh out loud.
You know what to do.
Go get the bread, the milk, and don't forget the
(laughs)
- I wasn't ready.
- But another stress was there too, it was YouTube.
Early 2018 they sent out this this letter and said,
"If you don't get to 1000 subscribers,
"you're gonna be cut from the Partner Program."
And the Partner Program, in case you don't know,
is how you monetize these videos here on YouTube.
So, I put out a video that was called, just, help.
And you guys responded.
But we got over that 1000 sub mark,
and I was in the YouTube Partner Program.
And I just really, I can't thank you guys enough.
That was the start of the 207.
But what does that have to do with 2018?
Well on the surface, it's the net gain
in subscribers I've had in 2018.
On the surface, you're probably thinking,
207 subscribers is not a whole lot to cheer about, right?
But to me, it is, it's wonderful.
As one of my favorite YouTube channels likes to ask,
Story Greenlight, go check them out,
what's the thing under the thing?
That thing under the thing, to me, it's community.
It's a community of awesome people
that enjoy the same thing that I do.
If you look back at our channel, at all the videos,
you'll see that that thing that I really enjoy
to do is travel and technology.
But it's more than that, it's helping you guys
and giving you a glimpse into our lives,
whether it's the tips and tricks
to places we travel all the time,
like Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee,
or helping you guys with some technology how-to's
like how to set up your smart home.
We strive to help you guys and add value in every video.
Sometimes we go vlog style, and we give you a glimpse
into our lives, like when Lauren did cheerleading camp
early last year, or when we colored Easter eggs.
But the one constant throughout the year
was our subscribers kept growing.
They grew with every video that we put out.
They grew with our trip to Disney.
And it really grew with all of our Gatlinburg
and Pigeon Forge videos we put out.
And that's my thing under the thing.
It's the people that have been here since the beginning
and everyone we've picked up along the way,
including the 207 that we picked up last year.
It's the wonderful community that we have,
and whether you're one of the 207
that have joined last year, or one
of almost 1000 subscribers we had,
we just wanna say thank you.
Here's to another great year with you all.
If you guys wanna help build our community,
make sure you like, share, and comment on our videos,
'cause it really helps the YouTube algorithm.
If you do all those things for us,
if you know anyone else that might like
our Gatlinburg adventures, or our Disney adventures,
or our technology stuff, make sure you share those videos
on any of the social media platforms.
And remember, if you're new here,
consider hitting that subscribe button.
We'd love to have you.
And we'll see you next Wednesday, guys.
Thanks a lot for watching.
Peace and love.
(uplifting music)
