USA news on Youtube Jan 7 2019

Hello hello, hello you guys and welcome back to my channel! in today's video

I am so excited because we are going to do another unboxing from Steve's Leaves, but

Also, you may have noticed that the holidays have passed the new year has begun...

But my friends I still have a surprise for you because two of you guys

Are gonna get a little giveaway from Steve's Leaves, as well as myself and I am so excited

So if you want to hear more about that

Check the description box down below as well as wait until the end of the video because I will tell you even more about it

But without further ado, let's get to the unboxing!

Let's see what this is the box that's always arrived

Like in immaculate condition which kind of is surprising just based off of my other plant ordering

experiences where in there kind of..

Well not from them, but from other companies where the box would be like

Destroyed and look like it had some crazy

Experience and transit and if you hear some tippy paws, it's because I'm sitting right next to the door

That the pups like to walk in and out of so it's usually their paws walking in out Indy and Ruby like to

Poke in and see what's going on when they hear me talking they get very curious

Excuse me Indy, can you go over here for a sec?

Thank you - can you sit? Wow... very impressive!

As always inside the box they have a little instruction list on how to care for your plant once it arrives

basically in a nutshell it says to, well, take it out immediately water it if it needs to be

remove all the packaging and give it some light and I don't think you're supposed to re-pot it right away either... Oh!

Actually, they updated even more! They said that they're talking a little bit more about humidity put it in a terrarium if it needs

To be, transitioning, and repotting

Very intensive. As always you just get the invoice of your plants which is really handy because often times

Well, I get confused without the invoice. It's nice to know. it is wrapped in paper

I'm going to give it to Indy because if you saw the other unboxings, you know, he likes to run off and shred them..

Let's give him a minute...

*Indy manically shredding the paper*

Don't worry I also recycle the paper is not purely for Indy's enjoyment.. Okay, you gotta see this... what you're done?! Ugh.

Let's go pick one out!

I love how they package it in a paper because it seems nice and breathable...

nice, Indy... *removes paper from his mouth*

Compared to like loose-plasticky-styrofoam things that can buffer the plant.

Whoa!!!

My gosh.. oh it's a double puppy party!!!

Hey Ruby! Okay here's your paper Indy... byeee <3

Look at that! *Gasp!*

A moment of silence again for Indy... Hi Ruby!

Oh yea, nice apple!

Very nice apple!

You doing you get all your anger out

Anyways, look at this

Beautiful begonia! This is a mix of like an olive green and a beautiful silvery pink

Oh my gosh, that camera is not doing it justice in real life

I don't know if you're able to tell I'll try and like move it around a bit

But it's kind of like a metallic-y silver.

Ohhh man

that is amazing

because I love silvery leaves to begin with and pink plants are just stunning because it's I mean it's a pink plant!

You know, I mean, what is there not to love about that? But oh my gosh, and it's in bloom. I love it.. so much!

Do you love it too Indy?

And the undersize are this beautiful burgundy color Oh

Thanks Indy... oh my gosh

I really hope you guys can see the beautiful details on this and it's so so nice and so established

I don't even know if I said the name yet. I'm so sorry. This is the 'pink minx'.

Oh my gosh it's fantastic

look at it!

Moving on to the next

we've got some paper..

But let's just go through the plant instead of the filling.. oh I just realized, by the way, usually have use

newspapers now they're using

Plain old papers, maybe they ran out of reading material. In any case. I don't mind it's the same idea

There must be a squirrel...

Let's see what we have in here..

Yes, this is the dragon one this is so full of foliage what the heck!

Okay, you need to get it close up of this before I even continue on... like look at

that... do you see the trunky-stumpy thing and all the shoots and stems it has this is

Unnaturally crazy!

Oh my gosh ice I know when I first started this channel, I was like, oh, I don't know but I'm really into begonias

I think I said that literally in my first ever Steve's Leaves haul... "but the reason why I got this begonia because I'm not like

particularly like

fascinated by them per se but

this had a crazy back store where basically..."

Wherein I picked up that one right there that U309 that I've been like ranting and raving about ever since I got it

But honestly, I think I have like upwards of like four or five begonias now, and I'm kind of obsessed

They're amazing. The details on the foliage is like

Basically unparalleled what drew me to this one in particular, well this begonia instead of any other because they have another like an escargot

That really caught my eye

But what I loved about this was how the leaves almost were like black-ish in

certain areas like on the edges as well as in the center, but then there was this hot

vibrant fiery pinky red color that I was like I

Had to say yes... plus it's all spiraled. Oh my gosh, just look at that

I cannot wait to see how this looks once. It's more developed once it's a little larger.

Oh my gosh this is going to be beautiful

And it looks very very healthy

Which I am so excited about like just look at all the stems in there

That's absolutely incredible

It kind of reminds me of like kale for some reason as well, you know like that really dark leafy kale

I think it's called like Dino kale or something at least here in the States. That's what it's called

This is so beautiful. Now. We are gonna move on to the last plant

It's always so fun too because like when you open up the paper, it's almost like a you know

Christmas present that you're opening or something like that.

Oh, yes

This is the pilea. Oh, man. I've had this one on my eye here

Let me fluff it out for you guys a little bit. Oh, that's beautiful. I think this is the pilea 'dark mystery'

It is so this is the pilea 'dark mystery' and you want to take off this plastic so I can just show you even more

because it looks like it's so

Dense and full of life and it just wants to spring out

Here we go

Let's take out this little inner liner because they line every single

Soil with kind of a little bit of paper above it just so it doesn't kind of fall out everywhere I assume

I've had my eye on this plant for a couple months actually ever since I first heard of Steve's leaves

Just because it looks so interesting, I mean it's like these oval

jagged really dark super structured and

Textured leaves. Oh, it's not focusing. Boom. There we go. And there's just so many of them. It's

fantastic visually to look at and even texture wise to feel

It's just so different. I feel like than plans that you'll see in the nursery. This one is just it's so stunning. I

Don't know. Maybe it's just me

But like I am just like blown away by this one and look again

How dense it is like how if it's not even just like one or two or three stems like this is a ton

I can't even count it, honestly

Because it's just it looks so well-established and it looks so healthy

We're just so nice because the last thing you want to do is order a plant

And then have it like conk out on you because it's like they send you one

That's not quite ready or so, but oh my god, it's so beautiful

*Indy and Ruby trotting by* Hi Indy! Hi Ruby!

I wish you guys could feel this as well like the leaves on the edge of them are kind of almost like

Jagged in the texture of the leaf is like pretty rigid. It's not very soft. Flexible hard fuzzy. It's pretty a

Stiff man.. highly recommend this one. This is beautiful. Absolutely

Stunning cannot wait to put this into a little pot to match its personality

So there you go that wraps up all the plants that I picked up for myself at Steve's leaves

But now we are going to talk about the giveaway.

I really wanted to take an opportunity to thank all of you for all of your love and support since I've started my channel

GameShark for Windows 95: The PC Game Enhancer - Duration: 15:13.

[salsa music playing]

- [LGR] Greetings and welcome to an LGR Oddware

follow up of sorts, I suppose you could call this.

Because today we're going to be looking at

the GameShark computer game enhancer

for Windows 95 and 98 games from the late 90s.

Yeah, this is a cheap device for PCs

and this is just very much just a US localization

of the Datel PC Action Replay for Windows 95

that I covered on LGR a little while back.

Of course in that video I established

that it pretty much doesn't work

with my entire library of US PC games,

and then I discovered that there was a US version

sold under the GameShark brand.

Same basic capabilities except that it

was meant to be used with US games.

Whereas the Datel Action Replay in the UK

was meant to use with UK games.

You know, there's enough difference I guess, in the code.

I mean PCs don't exactly have regens,

but it's just a code I guess that's a little bit different

you know, it's expecting either a different patch,

version number, or just the UK release is different enough

in the code base that it just didn't work with it.

So maybe this will work with those same games.

We're gonna try the same games that I did

in the Action Replay video, but I also just wanna take

a look at this package here because not only is it very long

and barely fits in the frame. It's really tall.

I assume this has a VHS tape in here.

The Action Replay version did.

That was a POW VHS so I wasn't able to play that.

It had a digitized version of the tape on CD

so we were able to see the video anyway,

but this one is of course a US release.

Even though right there it just it still says made

in England so I guess it was still made in England.

But yeah, InterAct a RECOTON Company.

Mmmm, yeah they released a whole bunch

of random peripherals and things back in the day.

I had a bunch of them myself,

but I never once saw this in stores.

This is something that somebody found.

Thank you, for sending the links my way.

I found this on ebay and got it pretty cheap,

and yeah, it's apparently new-ish in box.

So, yeah let's take a look at it.

(box cutter clicking open)

I really don't know what's inside here yet,

just due to the shape of it, I assume a VHS tape.

In fact I think I saw a VHS on one of the other listings

per this US version of the GameShark

for PCs, but I don't actually know.

And then the Action Replay that had the parallel port dongle

effectively used for just DRM as far as I could tell.

But, yeah I don't know if this has that or not

or if it's just the trainer software.

Hmmm

Okay, well there's a dongle.

Ahah, yes this looks mighty similar.

So let's see here, can you swim with sharks?

What is this? Become a member of dangerous waters.

Oh dear, well that's a cheesy thing.

(laughs)

It's just registration stuff so that's fine.

Warranty information, okay.

Yeah it doesn't look like there's

any documentation with this one either.

Same with the PC Action Replay from Datel in the UK,

it's really just this CD-ROM, can't get it out of there.

There we go. So, yeah that's it.

I mean, you don get any actual manual or anything.

There be some, there's like a help file on the disk.

At least that's how it was with the Action Replay

so I suppose we'll see. I'm not expecting much more.

I'm just really thinking this is gonna be a re-badging.

And, slightly different software to work with the US games.

Yeah this is the exact same dongle

that the Action Replay had.

So, you got one side that plugs into the parallel port

on your computer and then a pass through

so you can plug in whatever parallel port devices

without taking up the port, and yeah.

If you wanna see what's inside here its you know,

I'm assuming its the same thing as the Action Replay.

I showed that in the Oddware video.

So that's all that is, really just for copy protection.

As far as I know, and this is interesting, yeah.

The tape seems to be pretty identical.

It even has the same like little yellow VDC sticker there.

It looks like November 29, 1998. Neat.

Well, we'll put this in the VCR first and see what this is.

I guess it'll be able to play since it's NTSC, that's nice.

And then just install it, you know.

This gonna go into the parallel port.

Install the software, but yeah, tape first.

(VCR opening)

(upbeat music playing)

- [Narrator] GameShark is the ultimate game enhancer for PC.

Now you can rewrite the rules.

GameShark takes the latest and greatest

brain-busting games and blows them apart.

- [Presenter] So far this is identical

in terms of script content and whatnot

to the Action Replay, just you know,

different person narrating it and different logos.

- [Narrator] If you've experienced the humiliation

of crashing out at level four

of your favorite action-adventure game

then GameShark is the only tool

you'll ever need to even the odds.

But GameShark doesn't just help you to complete your games

more easily, a unique library of game enhancements

can actually add hours of gameplay to your favorite games.

- [Presenter] Okay I already like this one better

just due to this B roll of that late 90s machine here.

(laughs)

Cuz it just is awesome.

- [Narrator] Routines that change the way

in which the game works.

This could mean you have unlimited energy, extra lives,

invincibility, or any number of special effects.

So for example, when playing Army Men

why not activate the code for infinite health so you

can explore the levels extensively without being killed?

- [Presenter] Okay, well, it really is

just the exact same thing, so.

Yeah it might be on the CD as well.

Let's go ahead and find out though.

So, just gonna go ahead and plug the dongle

into the Windows 98 capture box, the lazy green giant here.

And then, let's get the same four games I tried last time

and try them out with this, see if they fare any better.

Ahh.

Or not.

(Button clicking)

Yeah, it's not powering on at all. That sucks.

I would assume it's not the GameShark that killed it.

Nah I mean, I don't know, that didn't make any sense.

Yeah, it's just totally not turning on anymore.

I guess the power supply went, or something.

Cuz yeah. Man, rest in peace lazy green giant.

I just made this thing.

I gotta replace the power supply sometime.

Whatever, let's try another PC.

I'm bummed out about that, but I'll get it fixed.

Until now though we've got the Packard Bell 955

that I restored on LGR a while back

and yeah, we've got the GameShark software installed.

So far, it's identical as expected.

So let's just try it out.

(upbeat music)

Well I see where 90% of the budget went.

Alright, well this is looking pretty much identical.

Wow, that is one laggy mouse.

I was curious about the about video

if that was the same as the, yeah.

(upbeat music)

Looks the same.

- [Narrator] GameShark is the ultimate game enhancer

for the PC. Now you can rewrite the rules.

GameShark takes the latest and greatest

brain-busting games and blows them apart.

- [Presenter] Strange, wonder why they have her back

And even changed her script to say GameShark

instead of Action Replay.

Yeah, I was expecting the VHS guy, but I guess not.

Alright, is this an even smaller list?

Oh no, how many games is this?

One, two, three, 17 games! Wow.

So there's even fewer titles with codes

than the already pretty lackluster Action Replay did

for PC and Windows 95, wow. Alright.

And it doesn't even have the games I was gonna try.

No Age of Empires, no Tomb Raider 2.

It does at least have Forsaken and StarCraft.

So, alright let's just try Forsaken first.

We just gotta try it out, and this is the original

US Release, which if anything should work it's this.

Because again with the UK Action Replay, you know,

the dongle was working fine, the dongle seems

to be working fine here, the software's doin its thing.

But it was the versions of the game I was using that were

apparently causing issues because UK versions

and US ones I guess differ enough.

So let's see if this original US release works.

And in fact we can actually double check

that that's installed in the correct

or it's looking in the correct spot, which it is.

So that's good. We'll go ahead and launch the game.

Alright so far so good, we've got the code selectors,

the trainer program here, looks like everything

is turned on, there's no error messages.

This doesn't necessarily mean it'll work but let's hope.

Because, oh wow that's right, I don't have a 3D accelerator

installed so we're gonna be running this in software mode.

(laughs)

Oh dear, oh this brings back some

late 1997 memories right here.

So chunky.

Yeah 320 by 200.

Okay.

So we should have infinite everything pretty much,

endless health and ammunition for special weapons we'll see.

(lasers firing)

(explosions)

Well

(chuckles)

Cheats are not working.

Running low on health and out of missiles.

Hmmm

Well, I am thoroughly confused then.

So here's the thing, there's supposed to be

if you look at the help, here's what it would look like

if it were detecting the wrong version of the game.

It would be like can't use this code,

probably the wrong version of the game see help.

And this is what the help tells you, not much.

It basically just says if you're getting this code,

it can't use it with your copy of the game

this means it was made for a different version of the game.

Yeah we pretty much know this

but what version is it looking for?

Maybe we'll have better luck with StarCraft.

Again, original US release here. Let's check it out.

Cuz yeah, that was genuinely my assumption

with the Action Replay not working.

Just cuz I have these US games not the UK games.

Now I'm just more convinced than ever

that this is just a garbage product.

So yeah let's turn on instant build,

free gas and crystals, that's good.

Make sure it's in the right spot.

It is, default installation path. Let's go.

Oh that's different.

It's not a positive difference, but it is different.

Okay so it's actually putting up the error for this.

So it actually has detected one or more codes have failed.

I'll just try switching them on again out of curiosity.

Yeah I have no expectations of this working.

Because it at least has detected

that it won't really work, that's a different thing.

Yay an improvement! Sort of, still doesn't work.

Man, what the heck is this looking for then?

Cuz again, original release here.

Yeah I'm runnin out of resources.

Oh dear.

This is seriously just pointless then, this whole product.

Not StarCraft, StarCraft's amazing but yeah, GameShark.

You can just type in codes for all sorts

of PC games back in the day and that was just

it was part of the experience, everybody knew that.

And even if you didn't know that,

that you could type in codes and download your own trainers

and then you bought this and you thought

this is how you needed to cheat your PC games,

it seems to be that chances are that still wouldn't work.

Are they just throwing somethin

out there to try and fool people?

You know, maybe it did work better

with some of the online patches,

but what an absolute crapshoot, I had no idea.

Again the dongle's working like if I unplug the dongle,

alright unplugged it, go to launch it,

dongle error can't find dongle.

Please insert the dongle into your port.

So yeah, it ahh dropped it, this really is just

for DRM copy protection, and it's doing everything

through software but the software just doesn't work.

At least with any game that I've thrown at it.

I think I've tried at least eight games now,

some of them off camera too, none of them have worked.

Except for Age of Empires just a little bit.

It worked with some of the codes halfway, but that was it.

And these are all unpatched original releases of the games.

And I don't know man, I'm just gonna ahead

and say this is a crap product through and through.

The coolest part about it is the VHS tape

and that's unfortunate.

Well anyway, that's all for this stupid PC GameShark.

This thing sucks.

Hope you found this enlightening

or maybe at least somewhat amusing, I don't know.

Check out my action replay video for more backstory

and whatnot about this product

even though it's kinda crap.

And as always there are other videos comin out

all the time every week here on LGR

so ya know, stick around if that's whacha wanna do.

And as always, thank you very much for watching.

How To Clean an Oven - Duration: 1:46.

Hi, everyone.

This is Randy from HomeServe.

And today, I'm going to demonstrate a safe and effective way to clean your oven.

While this is not a service HomeServe contracts would provide as part of your home repair

plan, I will show you a simple method you can do yourself.

For this, you're going to need some quality latex gloves, protective glasses, quality

oven cleaner found in most grocery stores, a five gallon bucket, a pack of non-abrasive

scrubbing pads, rags, or newspapers, and a trash bag.

Lay down newspapers and towels.

Make sure items are cleared away.

Begin by prepping the areas.

Cleaning the oven can get messy.

Remove the racks from the oven and set them aside.

While wearing gloves, spray a liberal amount cleaner inside the oven and on the racks.

You can also use baking soda instead, which acts as a great mild abrasive.

If you're using cleaner, follow the manufacturer's instructions on how long the cleaner should

work its magic.

You should usually be waiting 20 to 30 minutes for a typical buildup.

Avoid spraying the burners and electrical elements as much as possible.

Once the wait time is up, begin the dirty process of scrubbing away the grime using

your scrubbing pads.

Using non-abrasive scrubbing pads will make sure to get the grime off without damaging

your oven's interior.

Throw away the newspaper or rags in the trash bag or bucket as you work your way through

the oven, and add new paper as needed.

Use a rag to wipe off excess cleaner until it's all gone.

Repeat the steps for your oven racks if you'd like to clean those, as well.

And congrats, now your oven is ready to get cooking.

Being prepared for home repairs is always a good strategy.

Visit HomeServeUSA.com to see what plans are available in your area.

Thanks for watching.

How To Unclog a Sink Using a Drain Snake - Duration: 3:13.

Hey, everybody.

This is Randy from HomeServe here to demonstrate how you can unclog a sink using a drain snake.

We're working on a kitchen sink today, but you can use a similar process on most other

household sinks, as well.

To begin, we'll need a 25 foot hand snake from your local hardware store, adjustable

pliers, a small bolt that fits under the piping, rags, work gloves, protective glasses, and

Teflon tape.

If you look below your sink, you'll see a U shaped curve pipe coming down from the drain

opening.

This is called the drain trap, which seals the drain and keeps sewer gases from escaping.

Sink traps, in particular, have the added benefit of trapping small objects like rings

dropped into the drain, making them fairly easy to remove.

Traps also collect hair, sand, and food remnants, making them prone to blockage.

There are a few types of traps that are most common.

These are P traps, drum traps, union traps, and traps with cleanouts.

The drain in this sink has a P trap with a cleanout and an external cleanout.

This is probably the most common trap that you will see under a kitchen sink.

The drain model for our demonstration today has a trap with a cleanout.

Cleanouts can be opened and closed, which provide an easier entry point into the drainage

system for drain cleaning, clearing blockages, or camera inspections.

Drain cleaners and solvents should only be used as a last resort.

So today, we'll be using a 25-foot hand snake to clear the blockage, which you can pick

up at almost any hardware store.

Today, we're working on a model, but usually, you'll want to start by repairing the area,

as drain cleaning can get wet and dirty.

Now, place a bowl under the drain to collect water drainage as we begin by very carefully

removing the cleanout [INAUDIBLE] fitting and trap or cover.

Once the water has stopped dripping, insert the head of your drain snake into the opening

and begin feeding the snake eight to 12 inches at a time, while spinning the drum like this.

You will head obstructions while feeding in the snake.

This might be a blockage or it could be a turn in direction with the drain line.

Most blockages are within 10 feet of the fixture.

Make sure you keep track of how much of the snake is being fed into the line to avoid

going too far.

If you feel you've gotten the blockage with the snake, begin pulling the snake back into

the drum.

Once the head is out of the drain and exposed, the blockage may or may not be wrapped around

it.

Some are caused by grease and won't show up on the head.

Experienced professionals like your HomeServe technician will know the feel of a blockage.

So it may take a few passes before you get to it.

Now you can reconnect the drainage to test that the blockage is clear.

In some instances, Teflon tape may need to be applied on the threads to get a good seal

of your cleanout trap.

Make sure to tighten the junctures to avoid water leakage.

Once the pipes are reconnected, run the water to check if the drain flows freely.

Please remember that if the blockage is further than 20 feet, you should call in your experienced

HomeServe professional, who will be able to utilize more advanced drain tools.

Great work.

Now your sink is usable again.

I know unclogging a drain can be tricky and complicated for anyone new to the process.

Being prepared for home repairs is always a good strategy.

Best Black Hat 2018 and DEF CON 26 presentations - summary - Duration: 8:20.

[INTRO]

Lately, two largest cyber security conferences took place in Las Vegas - Black Hat and Defcon.

The number of published materials may give you a strong headache.

In this video I present the most interesting presentations and briefly describe what you

can find in them.

If you will like this series, the next episode will most likely show up in a few days.

Let's start off with a hardware backdoor built-in into some x86 processors.

After performing a specific instruction, we gain access to the memory used by the operating

system.

Thanks to this, we escalate our privileges from the regular user account to the administrator

or root.

To enable this hidden functionality, you need to have access to the kernel.

However, the researcher found out that in some cases the backdoor is enabled by default.

He created a tool to detect whether our processor is vulnerable to this attack, and also allows

its patching in a simple and pleasant way.

It makes you think, especially when you imagine how many of these types of surprises can be

found in modern processors.

Our cities continue to be more and more computerized.

For example traffic lights.

The tests based on research in the city of Austin were presented.

First example: I.Lon smartserver – authorization bypassing by adding an additional slash in

the URL.

Another example - access to the script that disables the given device - available without

authorization.

Another one is an error in API key validation.

In PHP, when we compare data using the strcmp function, and the first argument is a string,

and the second one is an array - the behaviour is undefined and can lead to security errors.

This research gives food for thought.

What if some organization would want to attack our city?

It can, for example, lead to a total traffic paralysis - if it makes it to set a red light

on all streets.

Another topic is the analysis of heart rate monitors, that are connected to the internal

network of the hospital.

Each of them cyclically sends RWHAT packages that contain information about a given device.

Also, data about the patient and his heart rate are sent.

A method for modifying these packages is presented.

Hypothetical attack may look something like this: we come to the hospital with a modified

raspberry pi.

We connect it to the hospital's network.

At this point, we send information that the patient has a heart attack.

Doctors dash into to the room and put the patient to treatment - which he does not need

because he is healthy.

Fortunately, the data shown locally on the monitor is now correct.

This is not the first time that a voice is being raised about the safety of medical devices

used in hospitals.

The main reason why research on this subject is still not very popular, is the difficulty

in accessing the equipment.

It is hard to imagine that a private person could afford to buy a magnetic resonance in

order to check its security.

Smartcard fuzzing.

Smartcards are cards that contain our private data – for example GPG keys.

That way, the keys do not leave the safe device.

All cryptographic operations are performed on the card, and only the result is returned

to the computer.

Most developers trust data that is passed through these cards.

And this is a mistake.

It is now possible, for example, to log into windows using such card.

If there was an error in handling this login, the attacker could log on to each computer.

The author of this presentation has made available a collection of tools, that may come in handy

if we are interested in finding an error of this type.

More and more systems allow us to use our voice as a password.

This can be problematic, especially for public figures, whose high-quality voice samples

can be found on the web.

The author shows how to train a model based on this data.

The only solution is to keep the phrase that is to be pronounced by the person as a secret.

Otherwise, it is possible to personate it.

The feature to log into a bank account using your voice is now highly endorsed.

But, is it convenient and safe or just convenient?

New attack on cache servers using ESI.

Suppose we have a simple website.

One part of it is static and does not change.

The other one is dynamic.

This site is very popular and uses load balancers and cache servers.

The client asks for the page.

At this point, the request to the cache server is sent.

This one sends another request to the application, which returns the page.

The cache server checks if there are ESI tags in it - if so, it executes the commands contained

in tags, by sending requests to the REST server.

This way we relieve the application server.

The problem is that the attacker can fake ESI tags and, for example, steal the user's

cookies and send them to a server controlled by him.

It seems that technology such as voicemail is already extinct.

Nothing more wrong.

Interestingly, it can pose a serious threat to us.

Operators provide special voicemail numbers that we can call from a cell phone different

than ours.

There we pass our phone and pin number and we have access to voicemail.

But why do we need access to someone else's voicemail?

When you forget your password, some large websites have an option to reset it by calling

a phone number assigned to your account.

There is also a phrase that allows you to reset the password.

The attack works as follows.

We brute-force attack the voicemail of the person we want to hack, in order to source

the password.

Next, we initiate the password reset procedure.

We want the machine to record voicemail.

So we have to call the given number at the same time when the machine calls.

That way the machine can not call in, and leaves a message.

And that's it.

We have just gained access to someone's account.

This is another example of how forgotten and unused technologies can be used maliciously

by attackers.

Barcodes can be found on every product we have.

Starting from milk and ending with electronics.

And what would happen if we had our custom barcode scanned in the store?

The author of this research published a website that is able to generate a bar code with an

interesting payload.

We can choose, for example, to start the calculator or a tetris game.

It seems that a device as simple as a barcode scanner can not surprise us.

However, this tool shows that it is different - and that sometimes it is worth reading the

specifications of the device, which we use on a daily basis, in order to find its hidden

features.

Matlab is a powerful tool for mathematicians.

The researcher took a closer look at this software.

From this presentation, you can learn how to attack different versions of this software

and how to decode p files that are obfuscated scripts.

Theoretically, the obfuscation is to protect the intellectual property of mathematicians

against theft.

In practice, it can be different.

An interesting idea for a university pentest.

How many university employees would open a matlab file with interesting content?

We hear all the time not to open word documents, exe files and java script.

But has anyone ever talked about matlab scripts?

Every parent is worried about their child.

Nowadays, we have many opportunities to find out where our child is.

For example, we can install spyware on our phone.

In this presentation, the author tested a dozen types of such software and found various

errors in them.

Starting from logins and passwords stored in an external database, the knowledge of

which allowed him to download the location of all users of this application.

Some programs normally allow you to display phone information to all users - including

guests.

Knowing our login, someone could follow our daughter.

Another application has forgotten about the access rights checking mechanism - all you

need to do is enter your ID and the date you are interested in.

After reading this research, you may find it safer not to install this type of application

if you really care about the privacy of your relatives.

And these were the first ten presentations.

If you liked it, leave a thumb up.

I also encourage you to leave a comment.

See you in the next episode.

Bye.
