Hi, Dr. Minkoff here.
One of the common things I hear from patients is that
occasionally they get urinary tract infections.
We had an earlier video which addressed this,
but urinary tract infections can be very common
in a situation called, "honeymoon cystitis".
Okay?
So, a person's having more frequent sex than usual.
They get a urinary tract infection.
It's tough.
They burn.
They hurt.
It's uncomfortable.
They have to get some treatment for it.
There is a way that probably 95% of the time
you can avoid getting a urinary tract infection
when you're having more frequent sex.
And that is this:
What happens is, during sex the bacteria that are in the vagina
may be pushed into the urethra,
the opening of the bladder,
and get into the bladder and cause a urinary tract infection.
So, here's what you can do:
Before sex, you can buy at a health food store,
a solution called "Sovereign Silver".
It's a silver solution which actually comes as a gel.
So, buy some of this and keep it with you.
Before sex, put a big glob on your finger
and put it right over the opening of your urethra.
Okay?
Now, silver is an antibiotic.
It will kill E. coli.
It's there just in case.
When you're done having sex,
get up, go to the bathroom, urinate, empty your bladder.
Now, if any of the bacteria got past the silver gel,
and they're in your urethra,
if you urinate right away, they'll get washed out.
So, you urinate right away and then put another glob of the silver on your urethra.
I found with patients that if they do this diligently,
there's probably a 98% chance
they're going to prevent themselves from getting urinary tract infection,
and it's an easy thing to do.
Just keep the silver gel with you.
And the main thing is,
you just have to do it or it won't work.
Okay?
Hope this helps.
