My Royal Enfield BROKE After ONE DAY - Duration: 5:01.
okay so I've debated with myself a lot over making this video and the reason is
because I really didn't want to see things like this in the comments section
you broke that thing in one day? are you kiddin me
shoulda gotten a honda heh heh heh heh heh heh
royal enfield have the worst quality ever, man
hah hah hah hah hah hah
HUHH HUHH HUHH
but ultimately you know what I decided to go for it because hey the truth is it is part of
my experience as a brand new motorcycle rider and as a royal enfield owner so as
some of you know I'm the owner of a brand new 2017 Royal Enfield classic 500
very happy that I have the chance to own it but as you might imagine from the
title I had it for only one day when it broke so the question is how on earth
did I do that and what exactly happened well first of all take a little look at
this video clip and see for yourself
as you saw from the video clip that's the gearshift lever and needless
to say it's not supposed to be flopping around loosely like that I had the bike
up on the center stand all I wanted to do was shift the bike from neutral into
first gear and I can't remember for the life of me why I wanted to do that but
the point being I don't think I applied too much force to that lever but I guess
it didn't really take all that much force to do what you saw in that video
clip so since New Year's Day was Monday Monday? Tuesday? Tuesday! I knew that the
dealership would be closed and so I had to wait a couple days just to get
somebody on the phone the day after New Year's Day, Wednesday, I got a message
saying that hey somebody's on the way to pick your bike up and we'll get it into
the shop they picked it up by Friday I got a call back and they said that there
was a manufacturer defect in the gear shift they didn't exactly elaborate on
what that defect was given that royal enfield dealerships and service areas
aren't exactly prominent in the United States of America the part had to be
ordered and it was going to take about a week to get here plus the install and
getting the bike back to me and to top it all off my temporary registration
expires on January 13th plus I've got a business trip the following week so I
probably won't be seeing this motorcycle again until another 7 to 10 days who
knows so I did a lot of homework before I picked out my first motorcycle and I'd
like to think I knew what I was getting into
I saw many many comments on the royal enfield history the various quality
control and quality assurance issues that the company is still working
through and as most of you know the royal enfield is not a common bike in
the United States of America so there's a dealer and service network issue as
well I was aware of all this before I got the Royal Enfield I fell in love
with the bike and figured you know what it's not a mandatory purchase I don't
need it as a form of transportation because I
have many other ways to get around it's for the joy of it it's more or less an
old British bike with a new model year when I took that perspective the
perspective that this is almost like owning a vintage motorcycle it really
took away some of the energy or some of the
disappointment related to future upcoming service problems and various
maintenance things that I knew I would have to do now granted I didn't expect
an issue to happen the day after I took my first ride but since it's a Royal
Enfield it's not exactly an anger to me it's not even a disappointment well not
a huge disappointment it is a disappointment but it's almost kind of
quaint it's like go look at my cute little British bike and of course it's
having a little breakdown and it's gonna take some service I certainly miss the
motorcycle hope it will be back to me soon I also do have an interest in
learning to maintain a bike in the future but I think something like this
really requires a mentality shift this is not the kind of motorcycle that you
just get on and turn the key and ride it requires love and care and maintenance
it requires being checked over before you go out warming the engine up getting
the oil circulating and I guess not pressing too hard on the gearshift lever
as well that's the perspective that I'm taking so it's not a huge loss I'm
looking forward to having the bike back again and getting to know all of its
quirks and flaws and other things you might expect from an old British bike
that's basically got a new model year on it if this was interesting to you hit
the like button it subscribe leave me a comment tell me what you think and until
next time this is Moto Royali signing off
