welcome back to Candy's Art World I'm Candy and today I'm going to test out
the prismacolor colored pencils I'm going to make a couple of cherries I had
made a couple of cherries with my Arteza color pencils and I kind of wanted to
see what these would be like if I did the same or similar thing and to get a
good accurate comparison between the two brands it's something fairly simple to
draw and find a color so that's why I went with the cherries I do have a video
of me making the cherries with with a Arteza of color pencils I'll link it
below
but if if you see that one and see this video you can see that already just
laying down the first layer of color almost gets you to the same amount of
pigment on paper as with the three layers of Arteza color pencils
these color pencils are pretty amazing when it comes to the pigment payoff
as you see I'm not just using Reds for these cherries I'm also using yellows
and some purples and to give a little bit of highlights and shadows and depth
of color
and I'm using Mona Lisa odorless mineral spirits to to blend it out and it just
makes the color pop and this is still the first layer of color pencil
my mind was pretty blown when I seen when I seen this happen in front of my
face
I did another layer of colored pencil and put in the stems and the shadowing
and stuff and then I felt like it was pretty much done after the second layer
but I wanted to do as many layers as I used on our teaser which was three so I
go ahead and do three whole layers with it now the thing that I did end up
having happen with the prismacolor colored pencils is it did end up getting
kind of a shiny surface to the paper after the third layer that did not
happen with the artis a pencils granted it wasn't nearly as vivid as these
cherries but it did not get that like shiny surface of the and it did the
shiny stuff you don't see it unless you hold the paper a certain angle or
whatever so I probably not the biggest of deals but it is something that
happened and that didn't happen with that like uh pencils

another thing in this set this 36 set of sorry of color pencils they only had
the black they didn't have lighter Gray's or mid-tone Gray's like the Arteza
is that did but the Arteza is that I have is 72 piece and this is only 36 piece
for the Prismacolor so I might would like to pick up some gray shades for
doing shadows and stuff because I like to use variations of colors to help
blend out the shadow
