GENERAL 'MAD DOG' MATTIS GOES ROGUE – SHOCKS NATION WITH MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT
Democrats love to hurl the "liar" smear at Donald Trump and anyone who works for him.
But if there is anyone in the administration you do not cross, it is Secretary of Defense
James "Mad Dog" Mattis.
And one top Democrat learned that lesson instantly after calling Mattis this awful word.
Democrats and their tag team partners in the fake news media latched onto the murder of
Muslim Brotherhood sympathizer and Washington Post contributor, Jamal Khashoggi, at the
Saudi Arabia consulate in Turkey.
Saudi Arabia – led by its crown prince Mohammad bin Salman – played a key role in Donald
Trump's strategy to contain Iran and bring peace to the Middle East.
The pro-Iran echo chamber in Barack Obama's Deep State pounced on this killing to extract
a political pound of flesh as revenge for Trump tearing up Obama's Iran nuclear deal.
Obama loyalists embedded within the intelligence community leaked that intercepted communications
had implicated the Crown Prince in the killing.
But when Secretary of Defense Mattis and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo briefed the Senate on
the administration's intelligence assessment, they backed up Donald Trump's assertion
that the evidence was not definitive.
Mattis told reporters at the Pentagon that, "We have no smoking gun that the crown prince
was involved.
Not the intelligence community or anyone else.
There is no smoking gun."
The Secretary of Defense also informed the press that he had read all the intelligence
before arriving at this conclusion.
But some Senators were singing a different tune after CIA Director Gina Haspel had briefed
10 Senators who held key positions on the National Security Committee.
Connecticut Democrat Chris Murphy came out of the briefing with both guns blazing.
Murphy smeared Mattis as a liar and accused him of "misleading" the Senate.
Appearing on MSNBC's Morning Joe, Murphy ranted that the four-star former Marine Corps
General intentionally misled the United States Congress.
"I think the secretary of Defense and Secretary of State are in a bad spot because the president
has given this bear hug to MBS and to the entire Saudi regime, so they are bound to
carry out his bizarre policy," Murphy exclaimed.
"But at the same time, it's sort of hard to call this a cover-up given the fact that
everybody in that briefing last week knew that Pompeo and Mattis were misleading us,
knew there was no way this murder happened without the consent and direction of MBS."
No one could believe Murphy would accuse Mattis of such a thing.
Throughout his distinguished career in the military and in the government, Mattis has
earned a sterling reputation.
Murphy instantly knew he had stepped in it and tried to walk back his attacks on Mattis
48 hours later.
The Connecticut Democrat tried to say that Mattis had been much more careful with his
language than he initially gave him credit for.
"They were very careful in the words they used in that hearing.
They didn't say that Mohammed bin Salman had nothing to do with it.
They said there was no smoking gun.
But in the meeting, they clearly left the impression by using that phrase that they
did not have evidence from the intelligence services that proved that he did it," Murphy
explained.
"Again, this is an elite unit that he formed that has been at his direction, and open reporting
now tells us that he was talking to them all throughout the day.
I think [Pompeo and Mattis] they were very careful in the words that they chose because
they knew what the president said only a few days before."
But no amount of tap dancing can save Murphy.
Mattis was clear when he spoke to reporters and said there was no smoking gun linking
the Crown Prince to Khashoggi's murder.
