(Sound of the shower running)
(Creepy music)
(scary violins)
Hey folks! It's Angela. I'm still alive, don't worry. But I am having a problem with my shower.
This shower head, I installed just a couple months ago, and it has started leaking.
Let me show you. Take a look.
Now as you can see, the water is coming up from the wrong direction up here.
And it's spilling all over the shower wall here. And also it's starting
to bubble here as well. So clearly this is a situation that needs to be fixed
before I have any permanent water damage.
All right, now, I'm pretty sure that the issue is that when I initially installed this,
which was very easy,
I'm pretty sure I didn't use any teflon tape. This is also known as plumber's tape or seal tape.
And essentially what this does, let me show you...open up the little package here.
Basically, it's a real stretchy tape that goes all the way
around the threads, and helps to provide a better seal.
Sometimes you can untwirl these, sometimes you might need a set of channel locks or vice grips
or something like that. Let's hope that I don't get soaked in this process.
Whoo! Uh oh.
Didn't get me.
Yes, see? I did not use any teflon tape. So this is real handy if you're
having these little drips here and there. Wrap it around real tight around the threads.
You don't really need too much of it and they sell this at any hardware
store and for a very inexpensive. Just ask for plumber's tape or sealing tape.
And there we go. See? Now I'm going to come in on this real quick.
See how I kind of stretched it around all the threads there, so it's real nice and tight?
And then I'm just gonna take this, twist it back on there, and make sure
that it's nice and tight. Maybe use your channel locks or your vice grips to kinda
get that on there good and tight.
You can always put a rag in between your wrench and this, to keep it from scratching it,
if you're worried about that. This is just plastic. I'm not too worried about it.
All right, moment of truth time. My favorite time!
Check that out! No more leaking!
Awesome! No more leaking! Ah, the power of teflon tape!
Thanks for watching everybody! Have a great day,
watch for my next video on ChickFix!
All right, y'all, it's a year and half later. and this shower is still not leaking at all which is great!
And if I had been smart originally, when I made the video, I would have talked more about
how easy it is to change out the shower head. We went for about 15 years
with a construction grade shower head on here, because I was too nervous to change
it, because I didn't think I knew what I was doing. And it was so incredibly easy
I was kicking myself once I finally did get it changed.
And even one that has a flexible arm on it would be easy to change.
So if you've had your eye on that massaging shower head, go ahead and change it!
